In the USA we got American Broadcast Corp (ABC), CBS, National Broadcast Corp (NBC), FOX, and Local Indepent Station and PBS Public Broadcast System

CBC is a public broadcaster so you can only compare it to PBS... except PBS is mostly crap.

the other networks you listed belong in a different category but the Canadian equivalents include CTV, and Global as the major ones.

Why are "Prime Time News" and "Venture" being promoted specificly for public broadcasting. I always thought CBC was the public broadcasting network Canada - although it may be different: I grew up with ABC Australia and BBC Television.

I would guess maybe because the CBC wanted to have some kind of slogan or tell the fact that they are a public broadcaster, rather than private, to go with their new logo that was only a year old before this video was taped. Not really sure, though. I think the CBC has always been a public broadcaster, though.

I think they just wanted to reiterate the fact that they are CBC.. Canada's Public Broadcaster.
