The song quality is in general, higher than when JMann was there. The thing that really disappoints me is the lack of Shmotz' amazing keyboard parts, this song has a great intro, but alot of their new stuff just doesn't have that sort of thing :(

Not to mention if Mushroom head wasn't a mediocre band in masks they might sell some albums, I'm suprised they are still signed. Nu metal is dead. Last time I was at a show they headlined it wasn't even close to being sold out at a smaller venue in Philly. To the few hardcore fans they have, I know its hard to see them go, but some bands should just hang it up.
Well for starters, Mushroomhead isn't Nu metal. Mudvayne is Nu Metal. Mushroomhead is Industrial. And Mushroomhead is signed to Megaforce records, which works with Filthy Hands Production, which is owned by Mushroomhead, so in a sense they are signed to themselves.
As far as the concert you went to, Mushroomhead originated as a small local Cleveland band, so they still do play at alot of underground clubs, which is most likely where you saw them last. But if you didn't know, Mushroomhead just toured with alot of well known bands for Mayhem Fest, which is a big deal, and this song was featured on the Saw VI soundtrack, which is also a big deal. Mushroomhead isn't pathetic like you make them out to be. They formed 17 years ago, and they aren't going anywhere
Band see almost nothing from album sales unless they themselves are on their own label managing themselves, what bands make money off of is touring and merchandise sales and sponsors. Get your eye patches out and be a pirate YARRRR!

This band was done when J-mann left and waylon took over, but even savior sorrow was decent, i saw them when they were touring for that album and they were still going strong. If the new album sounds like this i wont be buying it.
Half the stuff on Savior Sorrow were shocking,this sounds alot better then all the songs did past Burn,J-Mann was better but Waylon has hardly ruined the band like Sepultura was when Max left.

i talked to jeffrey nothing on myspace and he said the album was gunna be out in early spring, so ill be looking forward to it and i like what im hearing

I actually liked savior sorrow... and i know a lot of people didn't because the sound was a little different, but thats what i like about mushroomhead is that they will always be awesome. If they haven't sold out by now, after being in a band for 16 years, i think it's safe to say that we can look forward to a really kick ass album coming out.
I actually hold no fear for the new album. I too have grown to really enjoy Savior Sorrow, though it is a marked departure from XX and even XIII. As I said to TheScoopa1337Ninja, I have the utmost confidence that MRH will not disappoint in the least with the Slaughterhouse. Getting heavier, as they have claimed they will with this album, will be a most welcome tweak to their latest sound. Regardless, as we have come to expect, MRH will blow the minds of the true fans, mainstream be damned!
Well we all have opinions here, I'm a juggalo and my opinion is J-Mann needs to get back with the band.. Pitch Black Forecast doesn't seem quite as promising as MusHRooMHeaD Does for him and R.I.P. I know he took time off to spend time with his father on his death bed, but thats all passed now..

And to me SS Sounded more like an apology from the band for J-Mann leaving due to other reasons aside from his father, like him feeling as if he didn't get enough time on the mic and shit... But it literally sounded like a musical apology from the whole band..
I personally like Waylon. I've met him and spoke a lot with him, St1tch and a few friends of the band. From what I gather, Waylon is a stand up guy, he's got great vocals and the songs that sound like an apology (save us and embrace the ending) are more about Waylon spending almost all his time in Ohio to work with the band while his family stays in North Carolina. However, I do love and miss Jason.

The second I saw the name of this song, I instantly thought Mortal Kombat. All in all its a good song, and im hyped for the new cd but...was that a little guitar solo towards the end? That scares me a bit, coming from MH.
@TheSoopa1337Ninja Naw, I'm actually kinda thrilled that there might be more guitar solos on this album. It was something that I always felt was missing from the band--a missed opportunity to showcase how talented Gravy is. Then again, I am a big Slayer fan from way back, and their music was always built around Hanneman and King's amazing solos. Regardless, this has to be one of the most anticipated metal albums of all time (at least in my mind).
Yea...I see what your saying, and it does help in showing that Gravy has some real talent, and I myself do enjoy a good guitar solo, but just...coming from Mushroomhead it seems sort of...weird for me, having seen them go through 3 cd's sololess....still, it sounds good.
I also see your point as well. Just the concept of MRH becoming more conventional is a frightening prospect. However, I have complete confidence that should they introduce a few more solos in their latest music, it will not diminish their sound nor tarnish what we have come to expect from them in the least. Love JMann with a vengeance, but to each his own and Waylon does still 'groove', perhaps even more so.
And the solo. Now, THAT'S what I call a groove. That is FLOW, people. Now I'm all excited for the new piece; I found Savior Sorrow to be kinda hard to adjust to (love it just the same, though)

mushroomhead still continues to impress me. they are one of the only nu-metal bands that still hold up well to the test of time. and this album is coming out on my birthday. this is the first time something i like comes out on my birthday in my 25 years of existence.

@MEDzZ3RO dude im all for change, but for the better. Jeffrey nothing doesn't even sound like he cares anymore and gravy gives a boring attempt at a solo. This band was done when J-mann left and waylon took over, but even savior sorrow was decent, i saw them when they were touring for that album and they were still going strong. If the new album sounds like this i wont be buying it.

Half the stuff on Savior Sorrow were shocking,this sounds alot better then all the songs did past Burn,J-Mann was better but Waylon has hardly ruined the band like Sepultura was when Max left.
The solos not bad,I don't think we are hearing the same song,lol.

you are wrong man, I feel that mushroomhead has gained more ground with Waylon rather than Jmann because Jmann sort was a one man band all the time. Waylon looks more together with the band, rather colaborates more. No doubt mann is one hell of a vocalist-but I believe waylon has taken this band to heights mann never did. I 've been a fan of shroom for about 10 years and I've seen how they have changed over time and never have they been more different and more kick ass now that they have waylon

Some of the new stuff seems to have a new type of feel to it.
I kind of don't like their Savior Sorrow album though, but this song and "Exploiting Your Weakness" are cool, different than normal mushroomhead.

ehh to each his own, i saw waylon with them live in NC, where he is from, and he was really into the show, BUT i could not help but wish it was j-mann when they were doing solitaire unraveling, which is still in my top 5 songs of all time even though im now into many more bands that do not sound like mushroomhead....meshuggah, opeth, nile, etc.

@ccblapl I know your fear, but mushroomhead is one of those things that won't tarnsh.. I actually liked savior sorrow... and i know a lot of people didn't because the sound was a little different, but thats what i like about mushroomhead is that they will always be awesome. If they haven't sold out by now, after being in a band for 16 years, i think it's safe to say that we can look forward to a really kick ass album coming out.

I actually hold no fear for the new album. I too have grown to really enjoy Savior Sorrow, though it is a marked departure from XX and even XIII. As I said to TheScoopa1337Ninja, I have the utmost confidence that MRH will not disappoint in the least with the Slaughterhouse. Getting heavier, as they have claimed they will with this album, will be a most welcome tweak to their latest sound. Regardless, as we have come to expect, MRH will blow the minds of the true fans, mainstream be damned!

Well we all have opinions here, I'm a juggalo and my opinion is J-Mann needs to get back with the band.. Pitch Black Forecast doesn't seem quite as promising as MusHRooMHeaD Does for him and R.I.P. I know he took time off to spend time with his father on his death bed, but thats all passed now..
I wonder if J-Mann's guest appearence on this album will lead to another one of the characters in the band killing off his character, or what it could be and mean quite actually.. 'o_0

And to me SS Sounded more like an apology from the band for J-Mann leaving due to other reasons aside from his father, like him feeling as if he didn't get enough time on the mic and shit... But it literally sounded like a musical apology from the whole band..

I personally like Waylon. I've met him and spoke a lot with him, St1tch and a few friends of the band. From what I gather, Waylon is a stand up guy, he's got great vocals and the songs that sound like an apology (save us and embrace the ending) are more about Waylon spending almost all his time in Ohio to work with the band while his family stays in North Carolina. However, I do love and miss Jason.

maybe slipknot didnt steal anything from mushroomhead. all we know is that mrh didnt sign and then all of a sudden a band nobody had heard of at the time signs with a similar style. we can argue all day about that. but we cant argue that slipknot is a bunch of sellouts...and how can fans of slipknot admit they are fans when call you guys maggots? honestly wtf?mrh all day bitches....

The second I saw the name of this song, I instantly thought Mortal Kombat. All in all its a good song, and im hyped for the new cd but...was that a little guitar solo towards the end? That scares me a bit, coming from MH.

@TheSoopa1337Ninja Naw, I'm actually kinda thrilled that there might be more guitar solos on this album. It was something that I always felt was missing from the band--a missed opportunity to showcase how talented Gravy is. Then again, I am a big Slayer fan from way back, and their music was always built around Hanneman and King's amazing solos. Regardless, this has to be one of the most anticipated metal albums of all time (at least in my mind).

Yea...I see what your saying, and it does help in showing that Gravy has some real talent, and I myself do enjoy a good guitar solo, but just...coming from Mushroomhead it seems sort of...weird for me, having seen them go through 3 cd's sololess....still, it sounds good.

I also see your point as well. Just the concept of MRH becoming more conventional is a frightening prospect. However, I have complete confidence that should they introduce a few more solos in their latest music, it will not diminish their sound nor tarnish what we have come to expect from them in the least.
