This area gave my mother and I a lot of trouble. She didn't like to play it without the infinite energy Game Genie code. But you had to be careful you didn't pick up an energy boosting items if you used that code, otherwise the game would lock up on you. And my mom was the sort who had to collect EVERY! item she found. Needless to say we never beat the game. Think we got as far as Phthia and Phrygia.
I thank you too! I could do some "no hit" runs, but I prefer getting hit a little in being more effective and faster. (However, I dislike being hit!) :P Lots of people seem to like it more! I am sure it allows me to show more skills in doing so. ;)
This is the 3rd game I know of where you can walk upside down. How do you know where to go? It seems like there are so many routes you can take. I have to buy a copy of this. Very cool.
Knowing where to go is something we learn from playing it one or more times. The very first run we do at this game is more to learn and search than already knowing where to go. Talking to people throughout the game can help too! ;)
Haha, it just seems like there are so many doors. Trial & error is the way. Sometimes I have to play something 100 times before I finally know what to do. I picked up Rad Gravity after 16-17 years of not playing it (because I gave up) and all of a sudden started discovering the things I never could when I first played it without any help. There is only 1 thing I needed help in discovering in that game (the last energy bar).
Me too! Me too! Oh my! Castlevania 2(NES), Castlevania Symphony of the Night(PS1), Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link(NES), Galious 2(NES), Metroid(NES),Metroid 3(SNES), Clash at Demonhead(NES), Faxanadu(NES), Legacy of the Wizard(NES), Super Adventure Island 2(SNES), Ys3 Wanderers from Ys(SNES) are very good games and all the same style than Battle of Olympus. They are all 2D games in which we have to search for items, clues, bosses, secrets. Those are still my favorite from this style of games! ;)
Wow, there are so many of those that I haven't played yet. I still remember how excited I got when I found the hidden town of Kasuto in Zelda 2 and that magic container near the island palace.
Another game where you have to collect clues, but is not an RPG type game is Superman (NES). I like that game and got pretty far once, but then got killed. I have to play it again soon.
Did you see what Capcom is doing with Mega Man 9? It is an 8-bit game and they even added the flicker & slowdown as an option to make it like you're playing an old NES game. I really hope other companies do the same. Maybe we can see more 8-bit Zelda & Mario games among others. I also would like to see 16-bit Zelda & Mario games again. I just hope Mega Man 9 does well so this can happen.
No, I didn't see. I don't care anymore about new games. I focus on old games only. I still have lots to do with them! The fact is that I have great nostalgy! :))))
The thing is, Mega Man 9 looks like Mega Man 1. There is no more slide (introduced in MM3) or Mega Buster (introduced in MM4; which I never liked). I don't care about the new games either, but when I saw an 8-bit Mega Man game coming out, I have been getting very excited. I am hoping they will make more new games with the same graphics & sound quality & playability as the old games. Mainly because the supply of old games (though large) is finite.
Yes, i totally understand what you mean! Reviving soem memories of old games with new musics and same controls is somehow a dream! Nice talking with you by the way! ;)
Even the sorceres attack and teleportation looks like those in Zelda 2 !

I remember this was when the game started getting really hard. It took me forever to figure out where to go and what to do.

Aha! I think this is where I got stuck and never got any further... So now I know! I didn't wait for the fishy to take me across the water. Oops.

3:24 Why didn't you cast Reflect?

Christ, that was beautiful. My jaw dropped at the end when I heard that beautiful sound and that white horse descend.
Yeah, the graphics are primitive, but something about it.

Why is Sparta so run-down and abandoned?
Blasphemy and Madness upon the Game Designers I tell you. >_O
LuigianoMariano 2 years ago
Sparta is located near Laconia
molonlave2010 2 years ago
I know Sparta is located near Laconia. I'm just wondering why... Oh. Nevermind.
The player was actually traveling through Helos and Boiai.

does anyone remember what happens when you cheat poseidon out of olives? or what it another god? haha no more sandals!! haha :p
IcAnDoDaT 3 years ago
Ha! Ha! I never did it with Poseidon. The only god I lost my Sandals to was the one in crete, later in the game. ;)
HalDanGhor 3 years ago
That's with Ares in the temple of Crete, if you dare to cheat him into getting the Power Bracelet.

Those wizards you fight at around 3:25 look a lot like the Wizzrobes in Zelda 2.

Yes! And they must come from those in Zelda 1 too! :)

Did Battle Of Olympus have a sequel?
wtcvidman 3 years ago
I don't think there is a sequel to it. Instead, people says it looks like Zelda 2. ;)
HalDanGhor 3 years ago
It actually looks like a cross between Castlevania & Zelda 2. A very interesting combo (I love the 2D Zelda titles & the 2D Castlevania titles).
