HA so ur making fun of the sti cuz its a 2.5l motor? compare the number of world rally championships the sti has won to the evo and then ull find out which car is better. mitsubishi is shit. subaru offers a wide array of great cars. forester impreza and outback are all great cars. mitsubishi has the shitty galant the fucking lancer and other pieces of unreliable shit.
For all the EVO lovers truth is they are way over-rated. I test drove a Evo GSR before I bought my 2.4L lancer and it sucked on the highway, the gears are way to small basically like driving your 5 speed on the highway in 4th gear. As for the MR if I wanted so spend 40,000 It would be on an SRT8 charger which will beat the MR in everyway except maybe on a go-kart track. As much hype as the Evos have the real reason Mitsu almost ditched the Evo is they barely sell any of them.
Aside all the talk about whats better. This car is awsome. I loved it. Its got a nice sounding turbo on it. And all the carbon fiber makes it a sexy beast
Just wanted to point out because several people asked. The only turbo that I've seen rrm sell is for the 2.4L gts. I have a 2011gts and can believe it can keep up with a STOCK Evo with a few mods. It's not about hp it's about torque and yes awd does absorb hp anyways.
@nephilymbass1 is about traction, FF tend to understeer alot and loses tractions at low speed, so there is no way you could put all those torque down in 1st and 2nd gear....
@wtf000000000000 a few months ago I would have totally agreed but truth is with AWD you still have understeer issues. But I don't plan on racing around a track. My solution for torque steer(which I think is what you meant to say) was figuring out the GTS is actually faster if you shift into 2nd and 3rd at 5000 instead of letting the tach get near redline( because above 5000 you WILL loose traction in 1st and 2nd), once your in 3rd torque steer is a non-issue. Now if they only a made RWD lancer

+100hp on a FWD car makes it every bit as fast as an EVO. That AWD system just sucks up horsepower. So the # at the crank isn't nearly the number at the pavement.
i'm no expert but when he said they've changed the turbo and now have 100 hp extra surely you should be able to get another 100 bhp form an Evo with just exhaust, induction kit, cams & retune ???? if i was changing the turbo i'd be wanting loads more power than 100 !
Everyone compares this kit to an evo which is dumb. It is 20k more, and a completely different animal. Now compare this kit to something a little more realistic, and in the same price range. You should compare this car to mazdaspeed, dodge srt-4, and cars of that sort. You're not going to find a car this new, this nimble, this good looking, and this fun to drive in the price range. The lancer gts out performed the ralliart in most braking tests, and rigidity measurements are higher than a evo 9.

Lancer Evoultion $34,095 MSRP $34,095-$19295 = $14,800 difference. and if your gonna sped 20k for a FWD car then thats your thing. The base Mustang is $22,310 MRSP and will run rings around this all day. and it beat the Subaru WRX and STI according to Car and Driver test. and fwd in a heavy car like this you are always struggling against that understeer and not being able to put all that power down.
@wgshooter If you are talking new cars you're correct, but i bought a used 08 lancer es for $9500+4000=$13500. I guess i never specified new, or used. 08 isn't brand new, but is pretty new for a car in that price range. In that price range it'd be hard to find a car that new that amount of power with the amount of stability the lancer has. Besides that i like the look of the lancer way over any cars comparable to it. Fwd isn't my fav :(, but it does better then rwd in the snow where i live.

I'm sorry but for 4 grand you might get some bolt ons and a bigger turbo that adds 100 horse, but you're still a rough 20 horse/ 30 torque away from the Evo's output; added to the fact you're not getting the ECM, gauges, and other misc. addons of an Evo but that of a Lancer ES. And perhaps the MOST important part, you're not getting the S-AWD control that the EVO has All the money in the world into the engine of that Lancer doesn't make up for the lack of the AWD Get a real Evo, not this wannabe

It is purely entertaining to read some of these comments. People really take this comparison to heart. Any of you who track cars know the value of AWD, however MANY people have Lancers, I personally see more Lancers than Evo's on the street. RRM is a good resource for THOSE people. Overall this car was a blast to drive, my only gripe was WRTV didnt do this at the track! Would have been way more fun and informative...but thats all they had so hope you all enjoyed it for what it was.
@kerryanndlc If WRTV has done this at the track they probably would have turned some decent runs.. however a fwd turbo lancer will never be as fast as an evo around the track... if you are going to drop multiple thousands of dollars into a regular lancer with a base price of around 16k, you are better off finding a used evo x for about 24k... nothing against the fwd turbo lancers but the evo x wil have better re-sale and will be a stock awd car...

The EVO has independent AWD, 3 limited slips, a stock 291hp Mivec, Chassis stiffing, race lightening, Brembo brakes, a race tuned ECU, and O' yeah in the MR EVO a 6-speed TC-SST transmission - which if you haven't used this German built transmission you need to at least try it. I have it in my Ralliart and it is the shit. So bottom line if all you want is to drive in a straight line as fast as an EVO then go with the hunk of shit they're hocking.
This must be a front wheel drive with 5 speed manual box(stock). This $4000 conversion - Is it available as a kit to offshore markets like South Africa, because it'll sell like hot cakes, seeing as the GTS, Ralliart & Evo are not readily available here, even aftermarket upgrades/parts are null.
nice, might have to get myself one for sure mind you my lancer already smashes holden sv6 (G8 V6) and has no trouble with keeping up with a ralliart hmmmm evo hunting would be next lol

@kerryanndlc If WRTV has done this at the track they probably would have turned some decent runs.. however a fwd turbo lancer will never be as fast as an evo around the track... if you are going to drop multiple thousands of dollars into a regular lancer with a base price of around 16k, you are better off finding a used evo x for about 24k... nothing against the fwd turbo lancers but the evo x wil have better re-sale and will be a stock awd car...

The EVO has independent AWD, 3 limited slips, a stock 291hp Mivec, Chassis stiffing, race lightening, Brembo brakes, a race tuned ECU, and O' yeah in the MR EVO a 6-speed TC-SST transmission - which if you haven't used this German built transmission you need to at least try it. I have it in my Ralliart and it is the shit. So bottom line if all you want is to drive in a straight line as fast as an EVO then go with the hunk of shit they're hocking.

This must be a front wheel drive with 5 speed manual box(stock). This $4000 conversion - Is it available as a kit to offshore markets like South Africa, because it'll sell like hot cakes, seeing as the GTS, Ralliart & Evo are not readily available here, even aftermarket upgrades/parts are null.
