I wouldnt hold my breath for degale. A clear interim champ who will be run over when he faces an opponent with equal reach. His hits are wobbly, he wont stand against the top dogs
james can go all the way - he learned alot from defeat - lets all get behind our brit fighters!! they r representing. big respect to any1 who gets in the ring
If Lame DeFail continues to fight like this then he's going to be Britain's Super Middleweight version of Frank Bruno. Good at a certain level, but...
People need to remember DeGale is still relatively inexperienced as a pro, you cant knock the will he showed to win in this fight. His defence needs work along with his movement and tactical awareness will come with experience.Kessler is a tough pro but is not the same man Calzaghe fought so DeGale would not be a no hoper vs him.Think about Groves the man who beat DeGale he is far more protected than DeGale,at least DeGale actually wants and agrees to fight top quality fighters
I've yet to see Degale and be blown away. He's a very good fighter, on the way to being great certainly, but he's not as nearly close to it as some people would lead you to believe. Here for instance he had a very competitive fight with a smaller and much older guy, kind of worrisome. I wish him the best though, who knows what'll come of him.
@BoxingBadBoy77 Exactly what I was thinking, the way he turns his shots over is just poor. Degale has to go train with someone who he has some respect for, someone who can help him to develope his jab, straighten up some of his shots, and stop him cuffing too much.
@whisperkid1 The fight wasn't brilliant by no means, it was very tactical/cagey from DeGale and all out from Piotr which usually makes good fights the only annoying bit about watching this fight was it was like DeGale was holding back, he really needs to learn how to put a higher punch out put because he isn't going to get a decision like this one in a neutral country that won't take biased views to the home town fighter.
@whisperkid1 Nah it wasn't shit just not a brilliant fight, this fight just leaves alot of room for improvement for DeGale he will need to study this fight see the mistakes he done.
Still there are alot of good fights remaining in boxing to happen by end of this year, Lucian Bute then a hopeful fight with him and Chad Dawson.
@POLChelseaFC chad dawson got a lucky win, Not as in he's not good enough to beat hopkins but as in it should be ruled no foul and no contest. Throwing people of the floor is not boxing related.
@whisperkid1 Yeah that fight was a joke rugby tackle, I hope if he does get Pascall like he wants that he gets brutalized...
The way that fight end was a disgrace gives boxing a bad name and to add to it his attitude towards a veteran of the sport is just blatantly disrespectful I'd take more pleasure in seeing the guy retire but seeing a man like Bute or Pascall hand Dawson his ass to him would be good to watch.
@POLChelseaFC Yeah true but thought the ref was a joke. My lil brother could ref better then him and he doesnt even know what boxing is. Lets hope dawson does beat in his next, Or lets hope he gets rugby tackled.
@whisperkid1 Referee was fucking senile mate lol, its same with the man who refereed the Ortiz and Mayweather fight, he is a legend but you gotta know when to quit...
I mean how is it hard to see what Dawson done...
Not a single punch contacted from the time Hopkins when up in the air and put down on the canvas and yet he called it a TKO bizarre!
Haha, yeah rugby tackled and see what he has to say about it with the shoe on the other foot.
I'm sure Hopkins will challenge that decision though.
@DirkDigglerV3 The Polish lad was bullying DeGale that much is pretty blatantly obvious, he was pushing him back DeGale was getting himself up against the ropes quite alot, DeGale was also taking the bigger punches from this and looking very sloppy when trying to retaliate.
@POLChelseaFC....you dont score points for pushing someone back. You score for landing more punches which DeGale clearly did. Like i said, you cant score....
@DirkDigglerV3 You're missing the point obviously, DeGale was wanting to be the one who picks punches, roll the punches and use foot work, one he did not do enough of either of that this fight was similar to Pawel Wolak and Yuri Foremans fight, Piotr was the aggressor he done more work in the fight he landed the harder better shot, listen you wont ever be able to understand boxing if you actually thought DeGale as the challenger deserved that, that's called being blatantly biased.
@POLChelseaFC....again u are more focused on what DeGale "didnt do enough of" and not what the "POL" actually did to win more rounds. Fuck off with that "challenger has to take the title" BULLSHIT. You score boxing by rounds. By who won more rounds and who landed more punches. Not who the "agressor was".
@DirkDigglerV3 You're being uneducated in terms of boxing if you actually thought this man took the fight, at most DeGale only took a draw...
Same with DeGale fighting George Groves he was far to cagey wouldn't open up and let his punches flow he will never be a top contender fighting like this.
@POLChelseaFC....no you are, you're talkin about things that arent in the criteria for scoring fights. And please stop talkin about what DeGale didnt do and say what ur boy actually did apart from occassionally land a hard right hand. Who landed more punches? Degale? Who won more rounds? DeGale. End of story.
@DirkDigglerV3 End of the day unbiased view Piotr Wilzceski was ahead by 2rounds, if it hurts you so much just wait until DeGale steps up and fights a fighter who isn't just a European champion...
Lucian Bute, Carl Froch, Wolak, Cotto, Brian Magee even him infact all those guys who are in top ten or even twenty will kill DeGale...
@POLChelseaFC.....unbiased? LOL....sure mate. Ahead by 2 rounds based on what? Oh yeah "agression". "Pushing DeGale back". And "DeGale not doing enough". None of which are in the criteria for scoring boxing matches.
@DirkDigglerV3 Face the fact DeGale never won the fight, running away the whole entire fight isn't the way to gain a belt plus the whole dirty tactics of leading with the head that DeGale does even in this fight it's a shame...
Naturally bigger guy getting bullied by a shorter guy who was 8years older, getting put against the ropes taking punishment, taking the harder shots what did DeGale do that whole entire fight other than try to fight a style that he really isn't good at.
@DirkDigglerV3 He never landed the better punches and throwing barrages of punches one round and not doing it the next would make you land more but it doesn't make you win more rounds smart ass.
@DirkDigglerV3 You're English and on your profile you have James DeGale as a favourite boxer, this fight I looked at it unbiased unlike you.
James lost it on the early rounds, anywhere else this fight would of most likely finished as a draw or Wilczeshki would of won by one or two rounds, hence the commentators "the way we are looking at it"
That means the way they want it, home town supports home town fighter.
The Polish lad was just better that night, neither of two are world champion material
@DirkDigglerV3 Another thing you don't understand is DeGale never done enough, as the contender for the belt you HAVE to want it to get it, he never done enough!!
@DirkDigglerV3 Another thing a judge gave the fight as a draw 114 114...
I GUARANTEE YOU!!!
If he was in another country not surrounded by mostly all DeGale rooters he would of been able to judge this fight fairly just like the others, can't you not remember the fight when JMM went over to Indonesia to fight Chris John... JMM got ROBBED!!
Just like this Polish lad got robbed on the night, if you can't see this perhaps boxing isn't the sport for you.
@POLChelseaFC....im rewatching the fight on my tv and ur scorecard is absolutely laughable....LOL. You score even rounds....wtf? And all of the "even" rounds were DeGale rounds which you obviously didnt want to score to Degale. Round 9 was a clear DeGale round.
@DirkDigglerV3 On what emphasis was the even rounds DeGales?
Fact is I'm English and I never even thought DeGale won this fight just like loads of other experts who never had DeGale winning this fight this was another case of Chris John vs Juan Manuel Marquez, obviously you wouldn't of heard of that fight because your knowledge doesn't go that far into boxing this was a fight that was thought in biased view with the judges being effected by the crowd, DeGale fans have been known for stupidity.
@DirkDigglerV3 You're aware that it isn't criminal to give a unbiased review of this fight?
Simply what your saying is just moronic though, you're the guy who has a big 1 next to James DeGales name on your favourite British boxers which apparently is in no particular order.
Sure we believe you, that is the problem with British people (not all) they think everything should go our way!
Fuck I bet you even thought we deserved to win the damn World Cup playing like shit!!
It was a good performance by Chunky and in terms of pro boxing he is still a baby. Anyone claiming Degale cant box does not know anything worth knowing about the sport.
what the hell is with people on here? there is so much hatred especial for Brits. there is no such thing, as a home advantage. yes i get that judge favour fighters but if they gave all the decision to the home fighters, they would not have a job. i am not a fan of James de gale but he hasn't had many fights and this is boxing guys. its not about knocking people out, its about hitting and not being hit...
degale is a slow featherfisted bum..just watch this! he was going life and death with a guy who couldnt stop someone with a hammer! people say oh he's had 12 fights only..the guy is nearly 26 and in his prime right now so there are no excuses..its now or never!
@ArkadiuszEurope Last round I have Piotr ahead 107-104, DeGale repeats a tactic he done against Grove and try's to entangle his legs to unbalance him referee should of noticed it.
DeGale minus the dirty tactics earlier on the last round he deserves the last round.
Piotr Wilczewski 116-114 at end of fight imo
He deserved to retain his title, DeGale as the challenger didn't put fourth enough effort, enough clean shots he messed it up in the earlier rounds.
Wilczewski win this fight

Seventh round DeGale picks up work rate and does pick better punches 68-66
Eighth round started good for Piotr but more better work from DeGale 77-76
Ninth round very very tight but the punches landed by Piotr were better 87-85
Tenth round, even nobody done enough to steal the round punches aren't that clean from DeGale as the commentators are making it out to be 97-95
Eleventh round DeGale needs a knock down in my opinion, definitely goes to Piotr 107-104

First round goes to DeGale 10-9
Second to Piotr, not enough effort from DeGale, Degale trying to steal a round last couple of seconds, fight is beginning to look very scrappy. 19-19
Third round nobody bossed it, score it even 29-29
Fourth round definitely goes to Piotr 39-38
Fifth round another round to Piotr, started good for DeGale but half way into the round it turned awful for James 49-47
Sixth round DeGale is just getting out worked not putting enough output, commentators are biased 59-56
