Makes me wonder, if other life out there is facing similar struggles to our own, and if they to ponder the question if there is other intelligent life like them.
I love Celestia! Once I just started clicking on distant stars and "flying" to them. I kept hopping from one star to another until eventually, I couldn't see any more stars in front of me to go to. I zoomed out and was amazed with what I saw- I had gone from the Solar System to the very edge of the galaxy! It was fucking crazy...
@KNIGHTCleric Celestia is still a work in progress, I believe. If cerebus could have done one billion galaxies (not milky ways, there's only one galaxy we call the Milky Way) I'm sure they would have.
Emptiness is still form even if form is empty. Given infinite time and space all things are possible and it would seem at first glance, to me that all things become inevitable if theres infinite time for it all to o down . Were not talking patience, the multiverse has "time" or lack thereof , on its sides.
Could it be possible that time is meaningless to the universe? We really know nothing about it. About as much as a fish in a pond knows about the earth. In fact, probably no where near that much :P
I agree 100%. How can we as a species be so ignorant to believe that the entire universe was created for humans, a species that not only kills each other but also that has been around for less than 1 million years, give me a break..... Religion will die in the next century.
We may be increadibly small but we're something because we know how small we are and how big the our galaxis and stuff may be. Thats incredible.. so small but so clever, aren't we <3
and it goes alot ferther out then that, so we are pretty much nothing if u think about it, were something but not rele, theres deffinitly other life out there
well, there are 2 theories.. we ar something in the limited universe that grows every second or we are nothing of a infinite universe (literally) but if the infinite universe is true (in my opinion i dont beleive in) then i dont think there would have been a big bang because it is impossible (that people know) to ahve the univers growing at an infinite speed since the begining of our time
This is a faily good video. I'm not sure you should judge importance according to size though. After all, te human brain is the most complex structure in the known universe
I don't think we are "nothing". Our lives have lots of meaning. The fact that we live in only one infinitely small part of space and time simply means that there is no organizing principal of our importance, other than what we create for ourselves, and for each other.
We are small. Agreed. However, I find it interesting that from the scale of very biggest (Universe), to very smallest (Quarks and Plank length) That were actually closer to the bigger side of things. Really like your movie BTW.
Your remark would be valid if we know the size of the universe (empy space beyond cosmos) but we don't, I think we are closer to smaller, unless there are smaller things in regression than photons.
Haha... Sorry dude, I just couldn't resist. If you want to disscuss it privately, we could spare everyone the nerd debate. BTW- before you do, check out my space flick. It's totally pointless, but I think you'll like it. Cheers.
Y'know, I've always found the soundtrack to Cosmos incredibly annoying, but used in this "powers of ten" sort of way, it's quite beautiful. As far as homages to Sagan himself go, I absolutely love the moving starfield depicted at around 2:10, which is a lot like the beginning of every episode. This is the sort of video I love seeing. Celestia really is a powerful tool, isn't it?
Well, to me it says a lot. When I see how big the Universe is, all that we did till now seems to be so small and insignificant. It shows to me that our problems doesn't matter, that we give too much attention to things that really are bullshit. To the Universe teaches that you have to love your neighbours; we're at the same ship, travelling to nowhere.
this is so stupid...See it and think what really matters in our lives. We are nothing compared with the Universe??? what nonsense is that!?:| my god.. who gives a fuck about how beautifull the universe is this didn't say anything about what really matters in my life.

How can something, be nothing?...I think the statement "little bit of something" would be a more fitting title.

I believe "we are nothing" as a methafor in the sense of size, and not an existential remark. Spelled out for those who didn't get it.

Thanks! The music came from Cosmos, the series that Carl Sagan did in 1980. I think the theme song if from Vangelis.
