As a child I always wondered how the religious people could accuse and treat Jesus as they did. Looking at this message board it makes a lot of sense. Whenever someone challenges the common understanding of the world people get very very angry. Let's be humble people. Just consider if at least some of what he's saying is true. Just because it's new to you doesn't make it new to God.

Amen Brian. Christ makes all things new. Christianity has had some really horrific beliefs in these years following Christ's death and resurrection. One of the most damaging one being the idea of an eternal hell. It's time people were freed of such blasphemous ideas. Let's change this world for Christ.

I dont' agree that the 'postmodern' worldview is as prevalent as these guys think it is. For e.g., there are many scientists and medical doctors who are still stuck in the 'modern' worldview.

I don't think from this posting that McLaren is saying the bible is not relevant but rather we going thru a new paradigm shift (gone thru many in past ) and we have to attempt to understand it to address the world today...and therefore understand how to REACH unbelievers in a way that U and I can relate to them. You need to understand that people think within a framework within each shift and era.
