quick question...

Im 8 days into flowering (og kush, cheese, t.dream & bubbleberry). is it too late to do a lower trim? really dont want to stress plants out too much at this stage.

@law180 Yes it is fine to remove lower branches at any point during flowering. The earlier the better, since there is no point in allowing the plant to waist energy for weeks on end only to remove the branches later.

ermmm, if they havent flipped to 12/12 the plants will grow at the nodes that were pinched off for a week or so, possibly making 2 shoots instead of one at the nodes along the lower branches, this is bad technique ...... should have lollipopped at around a week or so into bloom ....

@cybermental Sorry to say it, but your are totally and 100% wrong. Topping branches results in a split top. If you remove a branch were it grows from a larger branch or main stem nothing will grow back.

@cybermental Im not sure I understand what you mean by "the apex at the nearest leaf". Branches grow from the nodes along the main stem and branch stems of a plant. If you prune away a branch leaving nodes below it on the same branch like you would if you are topping a plant the plants energy and hormones (Auxins) to help drive fresh growth will be divided among the other branches below the portion removed producing greater branching. @cybermental If however you remove an entire branch back to the point were it has diverged from a larger branch, the Auxin and plant energy are redirected down the next available route, the tops of the plant. A bit hard to explain without pictures.

First hats off for a helpful vid. Will just say that I know a guy that had his first harvest and is quite eager to start his second flowering. How big should they be to be put into flowering? have close 6 weeks before i want to start, have a 1000 hps goin on and first time ill be using it. started with fl lights, not worth time. The first run was sad, but now a lil exp and thirst to get better may help. Appreciate any tips, thanks for the vid!

@crisberger Since you are apparently very experienced with AN's product line, would you mind sharing with us exactly what it is that you don't like about their products? Or is or only problem with their dosing calculator? I've used AN products in the past with good results, but like yourself, I'm aware the miracle grow works as well. I don't recall anywhere in the video anyone promoting AN products other than mentioning that they were used. Pretty sure this is not an AN conspiracy.

ok question time lol...1. my plant is 4weeks in flowering and dont stink AT ALL, but look awesome!! whats the deal there? is it cause i got my head in there 10 times a day and dont notice? 2. And is it true mirrors soak up light instead of reflecting it? cause i got mirrors on 3 out of 4 walls, seems to work ok but i read somewhere that mirrors soak up light and i would be better off with a MATT WHITE paint(not gloss) is this true? hope ya can help happy tokin!!!

@shady691 It could be that you are gradually getting used to the smell as it increases with maturity. It could be that the strain you are growing does not have a strong smell. This is not uncommon and has no bearing on the quality of the finished and cured herb. As for mirrors, yes they reflect light. go outside on a sunny day with a mirror and try to reflect the suns light. Pretty darn bright. So bright you can start a fire. Mirrors reflect at specific angles, white defuses the light

If i were in the 4th week of flower would it be a bad idea to prune? Lets say the lower branches have flowers on them already. Would it still be optimal to prune the lower branches?

@Truthhurts3pm it is fine to prune off branches in the 4th week if you believe those branches are not going to yield anything but larf. It's better to get this done before flowering so the plant can use that energy to create big buds instead of little ones lower on the plant that won't end up filling in

@viglotti221 unfortunately its kind of a judgement call and takes a bit of experimenting to figure out which branches to remove. The idea is that by removing some of the lower branches the plants can redirect energy to the branches you want to keep. Decide which tops you want to keep and remove the others.

@TheSmokeyBadger Crap these plants look sparse and spindilly.... Sensi (AN) is crap... is garbage... and 64 plants.. EVEN IN SEA OF GREEN.. is stupid.. and dumb.

Try canna... as a fert... grow say.. 6 plants. AND UNDER FERTILIZE until your plants are larger and busy... then go to MFG low end reccomendations

@crisberger The plants are a little spindly and sparse. Part of this is due to Blue Dream propensity to long internodal spacing and partly it is because the plants were not topped. This isn't our grow room or necessarily and growing method we recommend. It is simply a video on pruning lower branches. As for Advanced Nutrients, I personally believe they produce a lot of good products but I have no objections to Canna's products either.
