  • Whoever made this video, SERIOUSLY made Buffalo look great!! If only the entire of Buffalo looked that way. Great Video

  • Toronto vs Miami? Are u serious? Not only are they Un comparable cause they're both completely different, but toronto is in a different country. Toronto is a Canadian New York city its very beautiful there and tons of attractions..Miami, surf nightclubs and the beach. A good get away place. Toronto is the sort of place you'd wana live, romantic scenery, kind people, ALWAYS something new to do.

  • Buffalo is nice and all, but Rochester is quite a bit better these days. It's about the same size if not bigger now.

  • @Benjamin8202 WoW ur bills are doing awesome! U must have thought they were goin to make the playoffs. But like all buff sports teams they choke and the city is still shit. Take the chicken wing bones out of their mouths maybe that's why they choke hahahahaha and downtown smells like piss

  • Good thing you posted photography from 50+ years ago because it sure as hell doesn't look like that now! They have all decayed!

  • Great Video, It really shows the BEAUTY of Buffalo!!! Buffalo is with a doubt THE BEST CITY!!!

  • Which is better? Rochester, NY or Buffalo, NY?

  • @Lovingirl80 You are truly a fucking bitch. 585 Rochester, NY all day.

  • @redcomic619 awww, crackhead getting vewey vewey upset. *sniffles*

  • @Lovingirl80 Yeah because you're a fucking cunt and ungreatful to the city in which you live. How dare you say the shit you do. If I went to NYC and said that shit, I would get jumped. But here in Rochester I guess everyone is a fucking little bitch and they don't give a fuck about living in truly one of the greatest cities in America. FUCK YOU!!

  • @redcomic619 Yeah, because you like crack? I understand you need to get high.

  • @Lovingirl80 Yeah you're fucking retarded. I don't even smoke weed, but I'll light up with you if you want. Sounds like you need to hit the peace pipe.

Either that or you need some dick. Fucking cunt.

  • Hey #UN# this video captures a lot of what we're trying to do too with Buffalo NY. Check out our videos if you would be so kind and let us know what you think of the quality!

  • I cant get a chance to see the pictures ! They go by too fast.

  • @1701mcfly the video images go along with the music. They're suppose to flash by. at the end of the video you can always pull the bar back and hit pause.

  • @coryjhill I dont mean any offence, but i got dizzy

  • I love Buffalo. It's the most underrated city in the United States.

  • What is the building with the 2 green topped spires at 2:20 ?

  • @DONGOE It's the old Buffalo Psychiatric Hospital

  • @coryjhill - THANKS!!!

  • You bastards...you killed the last buffalo in Buffalo Union Station!

  • Nice video, but if you are trying to show the great architecture you need to slow it down .... the images go by so fast there is no time to even see what they are.

  • ive always liked Buffalo, great airport, cheers from Toronto

  • i live here

  • I enjoyed the photos. Bflo. has beautiful buildings...even the dilapidated ones have charm.

  • if a sports team is all you people care about wake up

  • @crewcut74 Buffalo Bills are trashed!!!

  • @starlost1957 i grew up here ive been knowing that for 23 years

  • I wish the slides were slower.

  • Buffalo is'nt as bad as everyone thinks. Sure we have some very warn down areas and our east side is bad but people have been doing alot lately to try and fix up some of the downtown and bring more people to it. I like Rochester too, but its doentown isnt pristine. Also toranto is an amazing city but it also has its problems. Buffalo just needs new ways to get people downtown and fix up some of the surrounding areas and i think that will help drive out some of the violence and crime we have had

  • @Jeff515515 Get rid of the blacks and they will comeback downtown

  • @stcywll It's crazy how ghetto they are running amuck you can't have Doctors in the city or go shopping at the city mall without them glaring at you or starting fights. I changed my doctor to penfield because of the craziness. I wasn't raised to be an animal so why doesn't the City do something about it? make no loitering laws for public businesses like Damon City college is packed with hoodrats outside the bus stop.

  • @Lovingirl80 I'm from Toronto, I like Buffalo, but the nigs make it a scary place.

  • @Benjamin8202 hahahaha typical buffalo trash response if u judge your city by sports teams and championships welll then your a big fuckin goof loser hahahaha "0-4 in superbowls" and "NO GOAL" hahahahahahaha ur a buffalo puke!!!! I'm going to read a book now.

  • FUCK BUFFALO ND FUCK USA!!!

  • Ha ha ha ha Buffalo sucked then and it sucks now!!!! I was from there and now live in Rochester it is definitley the toilet bowl of western new york!!!! All those slums and shitfuck they ruined buffalo

  • @peppperz91 You're a dipshit and rochester is a shit hole... What the fuck is there to do in Rochester? Rochester has just as many "slums" as Buffalo. I can't think of one reason to be proud to be from rochester. Maybe the Rochester wings, or Rochester Sabres, or Rochester Bills? Oh wait... you guys have absolutely nothing hahahaha. Read a fucking book once in a while.

  • @Benjamin8202 Fuck YOU. Buffalo is a fucking little shit town and you know it. I can back it up with fact, but I don't have time to argue with little Buffalonian faggots like yourself. Come to Rochester any day and see me homeboy. 585 all day.

  • @redcomic619 Buffalo is way better that Crap-chester. Look at the development downtown these days. Our waterfront is being rebulit, a new 130 million dollar giant courthouse has been built. Marriot is building a new hotel downtown... The Buffalo-Niagara medical campus is expanding every year! Hundreds of old, abandoned buildings have been put to use... Just a few years ago, the avant was created, not to mention the new canal-side development that has taken way too!!

  • I love Buffalo! I'm from there and I'd love to fix it up to make it just as beautiful as it was in the old days!

  • I live in Buffalo and I have to say I rather live in Canada

  • Comment removed

  • @Nick718BkLyN I've seen what I've seen. Maybe You're just STUPID and don't see that.. THEY"RE ALL FUCKING ABANDONED. And I obviously know you have the right to own guns! But that just causes alot of problems. I've been to the U.S stupid. I don't live in an igloo. I live in FUCKING TORONTO BITCH and it doesn't snow here in the springtime. Go shoot some mexicans at the border and stop fucking with a canadian. Because you're obviously jealous...

  • @m3m12 Way to fight a revolution against tyranny... oh wait canadians are giant pussies. Go export some more asbestos fuck face. Look it up.

  • @Benjamin8202 Suck my penis you worthless piece of motherfucking fat buger lard..

  • @m3m12 LMFAO

  • @Benjamin8202 You have alot of niggers in your shit hole btw

  • @m3m12 They are in the inner city spreading into the suburbs of Buffalo, NY in the next 20 yrs.

  • @m3m12 It is from slavery, they threw away their possessions sort of like getting rid of cattle and leaving them to breed without direction. I noticed when I go to a bar they come in and TAKE OVER and loud and ghetto animals.

  • @Nick718BkLyN Who cares about the economy?!?! I was talking about the cities! Not the economy! And NYC itself has by far the most abandoned and destroyed factories I have ever seen. And we're doing fine with our economy.. And again tell me why your cities are so abandoned, have so much crime, violence rape, GANGS.. Sure Canada has some of those problems too. But in the U.S it's 50x worse. Alot of the cities in Canada are EXTREMELY well taken care of. No gangs, no ruined houses. And NO GUNS!

  • @Nick718BkLyN WOW DUMB AMERICAN. You clearly don't understand that the only reason you're richer is because you're gaining more income from your industries. You're one of the highest producers of pollution. And you also don't understand that ALOT of the cities in U.S including NYC are underfunded... and therefore have a lot of gangs. psshh Buffalo? Detroit, Compton, Milwaukee etc? ALL GHETTO. All the crazy ass mother fuckers out there in NYC don't their taxes because they're poor...

  • @m3m12 Wecome to Canada comrade. Your papers please.....

  • @Nick718BkLyN WRONG! Stop being jealous... all your cities are filled with black ghetto people and abandoned hoses. Of course some cities are rich, but most of your country is a shit hole. So sftu

  • I met the girl of my dreams in Buffalo. I wish it had worked out for us. Because of her I will never forget this city.

  • With exception to the HSBC tower, it looks pretty much the same. And that's a good thing

  • Buffalo sucks...The surrounding towns are mostly nice, but the city is terrible

  • The Selling out of this country & unraveling of moral fiber is proportionate, east to west, nothing unique about Buffalo..I'm still proud to have come from there. sincerely ..transplanted WNY native

  • Poor? I live in Buffalo and am not poor. I don't think you want me to start comparing statistics between the US and Canada. Canada is that country that wanst to be the US, but knows it doesnt have what it takes, so they resort to tearing the us down instead.

  • Regarding Buffalo & especially Niagara Falls, NY, people need to understand something. In the 1950's the region had a choice. Heavy Industry or tourism. Heavy Industry grants almost immediate, numerous, well paying jobs, but will eventually burn itself out. Tourism grants less jobs/income, but is stead/perpetually lasting. They chose Industry. You can't really, easily convert polluted factory land to tourism.

  • get rid of all the low life niggers in buffalo

  • @bauer444 That would be like 60% of the population.

  • @bauer444 >> You're what's really wrong with Buffalo. Sure Racists and Morons are everywhere... but there's something extra archaic about Buffalo NY and Cleveland Ohio

Both were manufacturing and port hub meccas.. and that blue collar anger over the "Ni@@ers" taking the jobs has remained and resonates to this day.

Of course the fact that American capitalism is now employing people in far off lands for far less.. While still looking to it's base for revenue never factors in...

    Now you're poor

  • Another former decent and prosperous American city that today is trashed.

  • The east side is full of grimy welfare receiving niggers who sell crack to each other all day, the same ten dollar bill circulates up and down the street, The west side is grimier spic Puerto Ricans who trade there food stamps for herion. The south side is drunks and the north is a big conglomeration of those three. The only thing good about buffalo is the University at Buffalo. The rest is a waste land where there is absolutely no reason to be unless you are a junky or a crack head.

  • @aclukow or a pothead. they got good weed here in buffalo

  • I hate buffalo they show buffalo like its so grand when its more like what detroit looks like now. I live in buffalo all you see and hear about is murders and gangs members running this whole city. Young teens dieing on street corners and teens who are too stupid to tell analog time trying to raise kids. Fu** Buffalo!

  • Buffalove!

  • I've lived in Boston for 16 years, but i am originally from Buffalo. Watching this video makes me so sad because this city is a shell of what it once was; in it's hayday it was one of the most revered places in the country. I wish so much that the state would invest in it's second largest city and breathe new life into this forgotten gem. Buffalo, I love you!

  • The dirty thing about any form of economic liberalism is that it not only stifles what is, but seriously downgrades what could be.

The high amount of wealth redistribution in the Buffalo area has killed the jobs that would have replaced the manufacturing jobs that left. Unfortunately, creative destruction turns into pure destruction when morons are in charge.

  • @johnbaine2 haha are you kidding me? no disrespect to my hometown of Buffalo, i love Buffalo, but i've been to Toronto, it sort of pwns us. they're not even in the same league..

  • we all know canada and america are great nations, but we can all agree that buffalo is SHIT city

  • Socialism has maimed Buffalo. In the 19th century, my ancestors helped to build the once great city based on hard work and free enterprise. I was born there nearly 50 years ago, just in time to see it mauled by leftist policies (beginning with Federal mandates for welfare and housing). Socialist wealth redistribution didn't work in Cuba or East Berlin, and it doesn't work in Buffalo. Now, I am afraid to drive down Delaware. But, I don't live in Buffalo anymore. I left with the exodus.

  • @astocker Leaving doesn't help, it's part of the problem.

  • @astocker how, exactly, specifically, has socialism ruined buffalo? do you even know what socialism is? cuba and east berlin were/are communist regimes, not socialist. there's a huge difference. do you not think that the capitalist industrialists and factory owners moving production to china, mexico, india; all those places where they can pay low wages might not have more to do with the problem? every time you haul your fat right wing ass into walmart, you only exacerbate the situation.

  • @olafbigandglad its actualy capitalism that destroyed buffalo along with urban plight all the rubber factories and tire plants that kept the masses working @ living wages were shipped over sea's due to the wonderful free trade laws that regan put in place and then bush, clinton and bush, each made it worse as the decades rolled on with variouse free trade agreements

  • @astocker Pure partisan garbage! 2 major things brought Buffalo down. First, the stinking corruption! City Hall, from the mayor on down to the cops was corrupt. The United Cigar Store on Main and Eagle, downtown was a huge bookie joint with a backroom straight out of THE STING. The cops showed up every week to get their payoff. But come election time they busted the place anyway.

Reason 2 was Brain Drain. The brightest kids grabbed their diplomas and ran. I moved to NYC, myself.

  • wow

  • Buffalo is an empty shell of nothingness

  • Hey i went to the Riviera once. But really Buffalo sucks

  • we moved to south carolina 4 years ago i miss buffalo terribly its so boring here i wish she'll just choose to pack up and move back.... i miss all my family and friends its so dull down here...... :-(

  • I am a Western New York native and I think these are very good pictures of Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Western New York. Love the music too.

  • wow canada is soo much ... less abandoned

  • @m3m12 that's because the US side is park land... actually Niagara Falls State Park is America's oldest state park.....it's not abandoned...

  • well it seems kind of ghetto.. but oh well.

  • @m3m12 You shut you mouth and get back in our hat!

  • @A1R5N1P3R Pardon me? I thought USA was Canada's toilet. No wonder USA has so many shit cities.

  • @m3m12 Who keeps letting you out of our hat?

  • @A1R5N1P3R No one. I just flushed the toilet.

  • @m3m12 what are you talking aboot?

  • @m3m12 All the foreigners are living downtown Toronto while the whites are living out in the country side of Toronto.

  • @starlost1957 The whites live in the inner city where house prices average $800 000. The "new canadians live in the old suburbs where teh shit apt buildings are and houses are cheaper.

  • @m3m12

Canada is garbage, went to toronto, what an ugly disgusting city, I live in miami btw, Richest and most vacationed city in the world.

  • @DarkosApprentice don't be hatin loser... You can't compare miami to Toronto there two different cities in general. And just like miami, Toronto has it's bad parts..andd... What that fuck did you see? Toronto is a beautiful city !

  • @DarkosApprentice Miami is the most crime infested city in the world. I lived in NYC in the 50's,60's, 70's, and 80's and would go out on the road for months at a time. Sometimes I'd get home and find I had neglected to lock the front door of my Village apartment. Was just as I'd left it. Moved down to Miami and the first robbery in my house was about 6 months into living there. And that was just the first robbery. Get real. Toronto is a beautiful city. Depends on how you see it.

  • @BillSalem

Lol I think you've been watching too much scarface or 80s movies, miami is alot more beautiful than toronto, Toronto has cockroaches/rats in apartments while miami doesnt, miami has beaches and surfing.

  • @DarkosApprentice You must be joking. The place is totally plastic. Miami is infested with huge cockroaches! You haven't seen a cockroach til you've seen the monsters in Miami. I couldn't believe my eyes! And lizards. All the picturesque coconut palms are infested with snakes, huge bugs, and lizards. Also, drugs and crime everywhere. I moved out to Oregon. Now this is beautiful. And superb windsurfing. A beautiful dramatic coastline which is the envy of Washington and California.

  • An excellent job on beautiful Buffalo!

  • I like both Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Hell, I love Western New York in general.

I did some research about the area (for a rant blog about the local economy on MySpace).

All the research points to greed and corruption.

Yes, GREED and CORRUPTION have destroyed Western NY.

NYS needs to start over (economically). First, I think these damn corrupt officials should be removed from offices.

I WANT TO SEE A WNY WITH A THRIVING ECONOMY AND LITTLE TO NO GREED AND CORRUPTION!

    Who agrees with me?

  • @Nicksolo85 I'm from Buffalo it's not nice yeah the bars kick ass and are safe but the rest of the city has it's up's and down's mostly down's.

  • @TheIceman567 one of my favorite places to go in Buffalo is Spot Coffee (I specifically like the one on the corner of Elmwood Ave and Cleveland Dr best).

I also like going to the observation tower above City Hall as well as the Waterfront.

I also enjoy the Taste of Buffalo (don't get to it every year though).

My sisters and I walked around Buffalo last year. My older sister likes to go sight seeing and take photos. So yeah, we saw some other pretty cool things in downtown Buffalo.

  • @Nicksolo85 I'm not trying to bad mouth i LOVE Buffalo! Great City better the Niagara Falls as we all know.

  • @TheIceman567

Niagara Falls (at least around where the Factory Outlet and the Niagara Falls Airport are) isn't too bad.

Parts of downtown NF (especially in the more run down neighborhoods) are infested with bums, panhandlers and other criminals. I should know because I as well as my brother have encountered some panhandlers.

This 1 little lady followed my brother around once begging for $2.00. He said no and she asked $1.50? She kept following him and then he snapped at her and she fled.

  • @Nicksolo85 I know as well my cousin still lives in the hood Niagara Falls is my home town i lived there for 11 years.

  • @Nicksolo85 It's been corrupt since I was a kid there, (late 1940s, 50s). Friday afternoons, when I was 12, my mother would send me down to the United Cigar Store, then on Main and Eagle, to get Dad's paycheck so he didn't gamble it all away. United Cigar Store's backroom was identical to the The Sting. Blackboards with stats on horses, racetracks and races. They paid off cops and City Hall weekly. Including the mayor! Then the cops raided even tho they got paid off. Now that is corrupt!

  • @BillSalem I was born in 72. to me It's a shame how Buffalo is today. we are the most conveniently located city in the country. you can get to canada (clifton hills, toronto, etc) and NYC and Chicago, ohio, Detroit and the south within shorts hours and not "have" to take a plane. we should much more better than this and have more money, jobs, opportunity and the like.

Bflo has potential and its all being thrown away with both hands. remember the festival of lights???

  • @BillSalem Why has the greyhound bus station removed all its restaurants? when buses pull in late or too early in the morning, there are no food places to refresh yourself within any walking distance for those who dont know their way around. thats pitiful.

Buffalo has money making potential and unbelievable archetech. some ppl envy those born in Hawaii, NYC, LA, Paris, etc. but Im glad God put me here but its so sad what's become of Bflo. It angers me that we waste Buffalo!

  • @721rem Agreed! Greyhound has shot itself in the foot by closing all the restaurants and bars. Here, in Oregon, we had a great bar next to the bus station. Lotta cowboys and red-necks --- but great bands on the weekends and everybody went there dancing. Greyhound suddenly said they couldn't allow such a disreputable place to be near their station. Stupid move! Really stupid.

Since Greyhound closed it, it's just an ugly hole in the wall. Greyhound Must have been bought out by Christians.

  • @BillSalem Im a christian. not offense taken however. I dont support bars. there's more to life than drinking and getting hurt later, It's just that the greyhound station in your town could have replaced the bar with a nice restuarant or mcdonalds. something that ppl can come to after a long bus ride and sit, eat, unwind and use the restrooms.

Christians arent trying to take fun out of life. satan and sin has already done that. God just want to prevent death while satan plans it

  • We LOVE Buffalo NY and would like to thank all of those who have made their way down Elmwood Ave to Vino's Italian Restaurant. We look forward to serving you!!

  • Anyone visiting Buffalo should make the trip to the Elmwood strip, it's still quite lovely - and yes, Vino's is outstandingly yummy.

  • @haypenny I have been there, walked alongside the street with my family, and thoroughly enjoy the crisp cool wind....I love Buffalo !

  • I LOVE BUFFALO !~~

  • @eeyore08101 Me too!

  • why this video not showing the rest of buffalo???? only north n downtown?? there's 3 other directions of buffalo not shown in this vid and the heart is missin!!!!!

  • nice! great music!

  • Buffalo Publis school system failed alot of the inner city kids thats why I would never send my child to any of them no one cares

  • I LOVE BUFFALO!!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!!!

  • Buffalo has deteriorated horribly. Crime has risen steadily. Yes, there are areas that are lovely, and yes the people are like everyone else. But compared to what it once was, it is a wretched shell of its former self.

    No Republican Mayor since 1954.

  • How could you ruin the last few seconds like that? You were doing beautiful pictures of the city and then you throw in Niagara Falls for the last few pictures. You shouldn't have done Niagara Falls at the end, maybe in the middle.

    Otherwise, great show!

  • Buffalo still is a beautiful city, you just have to make the most of it

  • Excellent work!

  • i live in buffalo

  • Consider the decline in population and the growth in land area covered by development since, say 1960. I'll bet you see a perverse inverse ration (population decline while growth coverage increases) the center cannot hold.

Fuck this country and all those who live in it. America & Americans: We're the worst.

  • Speak for yourself asshole

  • thank you for saying that

  • No Problem Cory just telling that putz like it is

  • And VIVA Buffalo NY

  • what a dump this city is, topped out in 1950 and has been going down for almost 70 years now. Their NFL team will move to Toronto or be the team that London, England gets.

  • Iam shufflling off to buffalo

  • Buffalo is a Greek tragedy of a city. A heartbreak.

  • i want to go to ny

  • it still looks the same in buffalo

  • Pictures can do wonders! Come to buffalo and then see if you make that same comment! Buffalo has changed so much. It was so beautiful! I've lived here all my life

  • Remember how beautiful the West side was! Rows of stately Victorian homes are now slum tenements. South Buffalo is also going down hill, except for McKinley where people still have dignity. The East side is now a vortex of misery & violence. And even the north, Amherst for example, has a higher crime rate than the south. People's attitudes need to change, our values must return, and we must demand personal responsibility from everyone if we are to see improvement. Vote Mickey Kearns for Mayor!

  • i remember when black rock was a nice town now look at it, kenmore and tonawanda are next..

  • I know! Riverside used to be a nice place to raise a family too. Now it's a vortex of crime and filth. So sad.

  • From opulence to blight. So sad. How many decades was the end result in the making? Buffalo is actually a toxic waste zone--the environmental causes of very high concentration of chronic, debiltating diseases, such as Lupus, MS, Autism, Thyroid disorder, etc. This is well-documented in medical journals. If Buffalo wants to turn itself around, it needs to go back and clean up or "remediate" a century worth of industrial pollutants and chemical dumping in residential areas.

  • It took about 50 or so years. The last Republican Mayor was in 1954. Since then, it's been socialism all the way. The chemicals you mention aren't as big of an issue as it once was, because socialism has killed much of our industries. We even have a nature preserve plunked in the middle of the city - which is laughable; it's surrounded by abandoned factories floating in dirty water. The waterfront looks like yucca flats after the blitz.

  • @haypenny socialism? Nys taxes have killed industry. I lost my job for that reason.

  • @ choochyo: Yes, exactly. I'm so sorry you lost your Job. I think we'll all need to move to Texas soon. I work in the criminal Biz, so I'm never completely out of work - but I only work a few days a week now. I hope you find a new career that makes you a million dollars my friend.

  • You said it! But I am totally impressed with how it used to be. At least it wasn't always the blight it is now

  • To be honest, I love Buffalo... but, it's been in a recession for so long, that when people complain about how awful this recession is...

...I kinda fake angst, or sadness for them.

The truth is, that as a child of Buffalo, I've never known what NOT living in a recession economy was like.

So when people now complain how horrible it is in their part of the country; I can't relate because they are as I have always been... My perception has always been that of a recession.

    Am I going to hell?

  • Okay, I live in Amherst right now and it seriously is NOT that bad!

  • Amherst =/= Buffalo

Just look at your crime statistics if you're unsure. =)

  • The subway being put in down main st, it sure killed buffalo's downtown. It tied the street up for so long that everything went out of business or became worse.

  • Went to buffalo last weekend quite possibley the worst city i have been in since Gary,IN

  • No, you're right melbrooks - it was voted one of the top most miserable cities in America. That's the problem. It was once a great city, second only to NYC. Now, due to crime and creeping socialism, it's been declining rapidly. I've lived in Buffalo my entire life - and even compared with the 1970's, Buffalo today, is a shadow of it's former self. And the East side is a cesspool. It's heartbreaking.

  • Yeah I understand that it once was a great place to go back then but gangs and crimes just make this place unbearable to live there.

  • Yes, we have the Crips and Bloods here, as well as other gangs. I'm in the legal field, so I meet the most horrible people from all over Buffalo. But the most horrible are the politicians who've let it get to this point. There are still parts of the Buffalo area and it's suburbs that are normal, even nice places to live - but overall, it's rotting from within.

  • thats horrible . I was planning a trip to Buffalo this fall but i think ill just stay home now it aint worth it .

  • It's not "creeping socialism," it's ruinous free trade policies brought to us by the GOP and corporate Democrats like Bill Clinton that is responsible for this sort of decline.

An unrelated factor: Buffalo's horrible winters are a huge drain on the city's appeal...Many people simply don't want to live in a region with brutal winters where you get clobbered with giant snow storms

  • Right - 'free trade'. Whatever you say. Ever go downtown and see the line out the door of hundreds of people in the welfare line? Most are women on their 5th pregnancy? All have cellphones and designer clothes. Those women aren't thinking about free trade - they're hoping to get paid more taxpayer money for being irresponsible. We have more social programs than functional schools. Snow? Our snow is nothing compared to other cities like Fargo, N.Dakota for one example. And it beats hurricanes.

  • Inflated sense of entitlement bred though multigenerational welfare dependency. People are raised as consumers rather than contributors to society. The welfare system needs to be overhauled. It should be teaching people to "fish for themselves." Dependents have no sense of purpose or meaning in their lives--their only means of feeling a sense of "belonging" is to join gangs or breed indiscriminately--bringing babies into the world to meet their needs, rather than the other way around.

  • Absolutely fifthqdrnt. If you go downtown to the welfare office you see a line out the door - of able bodied young people wearing expensive sneakers and leather jackets. Babies have them too. On the way into the city is yet another large housing development with a massive banner that reads, "Free Housing". And the city courts are filled to capacity with people under 25 years of age. All funded by suckers who pay some of the highest taxes in the country.

  • @fifthqdrnt I like your use of words.Big words=intelligence.

  • If only we didn't have to pay all those taxes for NYC then Buffalo would probably be doing alright...

  • That's definately a factor. But, I don't think it would ultimately make too much of a difference. We have a great deal of political corruption in this city, along with a do nothing mayor, a profoundly corrupt and inept school board, rampant crime [at least a murder a day], and high numbers of single mothers on welfare [the root of all poverty and crime]. More of our tax dollars remaining here won't change people's attitudes or penchant for bad decisions. We need to stop subsidizing stupidity.

  • LOL Ya gotta watch out for them Dastardly Single Mothers, COME ON!!! Gimme a break

  • They're not 'dastardly' - nobody said they were. It just causes more poverty and instability. Go to any area where mothers are irresponsible and fathers are absent - and you'll see a heap of poverty and crime. No big mystery - just cause and effect. Did you know Buffalo is the 2nd poorest city in the USA? It's true.

  • cleveland is 2nd

  • @haypenny 3rd ,,,,detroit cleveland buffalo

  • If we actually had jobs in buffalo, and if 26 percent of all people didnt live in poverty, and if people didnt flock to the suburbs, we would have higher tax revenue...Thus giving the govt money for police, education and attraction of business. One of the reasons why this city decline (and others) is because of suburban sprawl...And nobody cares about urban issues anymore..

  • All the pictures were mostly of downtown wow do I luv this city everyone is just so close together thats why im never guna move .
