I just wonder, (In cartoon world that is) How many miles of Dick, she had put in her, Just wondering. And it is all the mans fault . Nope I would not fuck her if I was a Toon. But she could jerk me off. hahah
Bordoni had something of a hit in her early talkie feature "Paris" (1929,( a lost fim, sadly....) And so her inclusion in this short, at the time, would have been considererd a treat, to the audiences of the time... I always thought her voice was was quite engaging, actually... She was quite the thing at the time...
I love this cartoon. The sequence between 7:10 and 7:28 is briliiant. The essence of early Fleischer cartoon, and you'd only find something like that in a Fleischer.
Max Fleischer was the Seth McFarlane of the 1930s!
I always loved Betty Boop! Growing up in Italy and being a child in the 1970s, the Italian TV was showing Betty Boop cartoons and, even if it was originally made in the 1930s, I always found it fascinating and educational, as if I was learning a piece of history. I always wanted to invent a time machine to go back to the 1930s and 1940s. i love that time period, which is also why I love the Squirrel Nut Zippers! :-)
Beautiful example of period art, both animation, live film, and overlay editing. In context, cutting edge technology and a reflection of the historical times.
No matter how many new versions of stream-of-consciousness and quick change of context non sequitur humor come along, Max Fleischer's cartoons never seem dated.
The poster of this video is ugly and in no way does he own fifteen rabbits. I bet he has never even seen fifteen rabbits in his whole life, You lieing sack of crap. BTW nice video....
It's preposterous and silly and also magnificently and wonderfully artistic, so children can in fact learn that their own silliness is not without value; what it isn't is bestially, horribly stupid as is our standard network fare (all exceptions noted). It takes what's vulgar in human nature and renders it innocent, as opposed to, say, American Idol, which renders everything vulgar!
How is this offensive? These were meant to play before movies like "It Happened One Night", which may seem like films made for adults, but hardly on par with the sexy violent fart humor that prevails in today's media. I thought it was beautiful.
You know, I find it interesting and mind-boggling that people on here get upset about the messages in animations from long ago, when it is perfectly acceptable to watch The Simpsons, South Park et al on prime time TV. It's only entertainment and was not meant to be offensive back then - just funny. These days, cartoons are deliberately blatant about what they have to say and nobody turns a hair.
Not for children - these were made for everybody. Back then, people didn't freak out about cartoons ruining their precious childrens' minds like they do now.
Viva la Bordoni. Just a Gigolo, what a great song. The frenchy version is not that bad, the song evokes more the nostalgic of the memories of youth than in the Prima's. Funny, at 0:25 she didn't sing: corpz' et âme. 1932, reeespect!!!!!!!!! Madame la Bordoni your accent is nice and sweet.
While microphones were used differently and more seldomly then, they were still the mechanism used to capture sound. It is incorrect to say that microphones were not used.
Did she just sing "If you got any balls let ,me hear you make some noise at about 5:00!" This shows even with a crappy tv budget Betty Boop is still one edgiest, surreal, most submerged cartoons of all time. Thanks for posting this!
I'm disappointed that this "U.M & M."
