No... I don't think so. If you know any families torn apart by infidelity, the children usually resent their unfaithful parent. How, in a world full of murder, lies, greed, can we say that our moral laws are what they are because they've evolved in us? It makes no sense to me.
I guess what I really wonder is... for people who believe we are on this planet by mere accident- with no designed purpose or destination, what is the point in following a moral code or law? Why not just live life in the moment- do whatever makes you happy with no regards to how it makes others feel? What reward is there to being a loyal husband when it could be so much more fun to just sleep around? Will his children grow up to want to sleep around too, cuz those are the values they were around
Do you two believe that we have a conscience? Or something inside of us that makes us inclined to hold courage and honesty above cowardice and deceit? You can look back as far as you want in human history and those values will remain.
If this "conscience" does not come from God, who instills these values in us? I don't think we can rely on humans, who are selfish and greedy, to place these values in the world... because we'd end up believing it is okay to do whatever you must to reach the top.
Without there being a -standard- as to what is good or bad, or right or wrong, then we really can never truly know what is right or wrong... and we can't say we get our "morals" from our surroundings... because everyone's is different! We can go back to 9/11 and remember that the hi-jackers of those planes thought they were doing something right and good. they were brought up under those morals. but obviously, to those who grew up under different morals, their actions were in no way "good."
