Great song! I usually play this song more than once when I play the CD. The lyrics are just great. A real "pick-me-up" tune. I also always liked the moral message in this episode.
My absolute favorite PF song. Like so many posters, I find myself singing this song a lot. Ah, such warm fuzzy memories! I hope I have been able to give my children a little piece of those. My 17 yo just bought "I think i love you" for his iPod! It's right next to his AC/DC and Foreigner :)
I realize every generation "remembers when" and claims "their times" as the best - but for those of us lucky enough to grow up in the late 60's - early 70's -- we know those times truly were the best. You could leave the house in the morning, play all day with your friends, come in "when the street lights came on" - grab a bath, put on your pj's, and watch the Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch. Man oh man life was good! What a shame kids these days will never know such innocence.

This song reflects my life at this present moment, especially the line,"I'll leave myself a little time to go a different way".No worries,I'll pick myself up and dust off the dirt in due time!
This is yet another hidden gem from the Partridge Family.Their hits were good too,but their other album cuts held their own against them and then some.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I haven't seen The Partridge Family in forever. Here goes: I know that the premise of the series is that The Partridges are a recording and touring group that play and sing feel good music. However, I could have sworn that, every now and then, there were occasional episodes with no singing at all, instead, said episode(s) would just play like a regulat family sitcom. Am I right?
The story was based on a real-life family - the themes were family oriented with a music item in each episode. Believe me, watched them all with my sister who had (and still has) a huge crush on David Cassidy. He was very cute and soooo easy on the eye!! Great song - should re-vamp it and release it today - would be a hit!!
@cmulwee001 Of course, the Partridge Family was based on real-life 60's family and pop group, the Cowsills. As I understand, mama Cowsill and family wanted nothing to do with starring in the series, hence these actors and some that were singers(Cassidy,Jones).
The other singers were The Ron Hicklin Singers aka The Love Generation aka The Charles Fox singers. They consisted of Hicklin himself, brothers Tom and John Bahler, Jackie Ward, Gene Morford, and sometimes Sally Stevens.
They also performed the theme songs to Flipper, Batman, Love American Style(replacing the Cowsills in yr,2!) and the movie version of M*A*S*H. And some commercial jingles as well
David does sing on this track. As you may know only he and Shirley Jones did their own singing. But even David didn't sing for the first few episodes. In the pilot when the band rehearses "Let The Good Times In" he is lip-sync-ing to Ron Hicklin's vocals. I'm not sure exactly how far into the first season that once producers found that David could really sing, so that he could do his vocals
@cmulwee001 I knew that neither David nor Shirley didn't sing in the initial episode. You could tell how fake it was too.I've also got all four seasons on DVD and I say with an unguilty conscience that I love their music.
You should take a listen to Ron Hicklin Singers cover of The Turtles' "Happy Together". Although it was recorded under their own name, you clearly tell they are
The Partridge Family voices. The real singers were actually seen on the weekend edition of Entertainment Tonight about 10 years ago when the weekend edition would be devoted entirely to a classic TV show
Thank you. I'm really hating my job right now and feeling really down. This song picked me up better than Paxil ever could! "I'll leave myself a little time to go a different way." Thank youl.
@reneee800 Of course, this was at least 5 years before Harry Morgan debuted on M*A*S*H.As a matter of fact, this was 2 years before the TV series premiered.
thanks for putting together these videos... it's a real cool thing to watch the whole song instead of the "45" versions they usually played on the TV series... hehe.
The Partidge Family is the most depressing band ever! I love depressing music! I'm just trying to convince all my Goth friends that the PF is ultimate!
So simple and sweet. I am happy to see I am not the only one who felt dearly about this little song, almost lost. I wish it was played a little more by the media. I think it would touch more people, and make this world (possibly) a little sweeter and kinder. Thanks for posting!
Every time in my life, I have had very difficult times, I will play this song, then, I will cry. But, it has gotten me through. Somehow, given me the strength, to live on. Thanks for all who have contributed to bringing this song to being!
thanks for all the high quality clips, memories and just plain quality music.
