Can someone tell me why *TED* was *SPOILERS* SPOILERS* Captured at the end? Or well captured and captured.. he was taken into a car or something like that..
The funniest moment between Bobby and Ted. Something I'll forget in theaters.
Bobby: "What's flatulence?"
Ted takes his own arm to his mouth and makes a gas sound. An actual real fart sound. Bobby laughs and so does Ted.
Ted: "Yeah. Kids always think farts are funny." LOL! Farts are funny despite that they can smell. Thumbs if you think that moment between Bobby and Ted is hilarious.
@Kainthemain I haven't watched this film yet so Im not sure if its anything like it, but my netflix suggested me this after watching Pay it Forward which was pretty good.
I loved the movie, and I'm reading the book, but... I just can't finish it, is sooo boring! I only have 100 pages left but it looks endless! And I'm huge fan of King! I have read all his books except for 3, but this is not my favorite one :(
the under rated side of this movie shows the educational level of humans. when we can not understand the physics of nature, we think its rubbish, but this my friend, is a masterpiece beyond any work. if only you would open your mind to the ideas and explore it, it should be a memorable journey.
I LOVED this book.... in fact I'm currently reading it for the fourth time I haven't watched the movie yet and to be quite frank i wasn't intending to because I feared it would ruin some of the compelling scenes in the book I.e when Bobby's mum walks in to see Mr. Brautigan (Ted) holding carol and assumes the worst... is that the case with this movie or am I just worrying to much?
@pivotdj1 so many... the mother is not has cruel as in the book and Bobby is less sweeter on the movie. Less shocking when it comes to the changing of events. but it's still a nice movie. the best part is that "low man in yellow coats" is the story of one of the breakers that could escape, of a story that "Ted" only comes on small part of another book that Stephen King is still writing! (or maybe he already finished it)
This film makes you feel icky. For instance, Bobby's mother 'lies' to him 'bout his father and is 'totally dumb,' like Demi Moore's character in The Juror.
Would agree that it is a better novel than movie. However gotta love Hopkins. Was really when I understood that Kings universe was leaching out. The novel dealt with addiction, mental illness, and many of society's plights. Always with a story and never preachy, fine line boys and girls, walkin the tightrope. Ted always struck me as a genuine nice guy. Tip a rootbeer for me.
The book was much better, in my view, since it makes more sense, and it ties into Stephen King's Dark Tower series. The title also doesn't really fit, since the the story its based on was "Low Men in Yellow Coats", and "Hearts in Atlantis" was another story that had a completely different meaning. Also there was a whole panorama of the 50s and 60s that they just couldn't fit into one movie. It was a respectable attempt, but I think it could have been better. Anthony Hopkins was perfect
@breeeegs it's people like you that ruin the movie experience and discourage others to see a great film. IT IS A MOVIE stop comparing it to anything else!!! Compare books with books and movies with movies. This film is just a movie inspired by a book nothing more. You lil' douche
Despite that they removed all the Dark Tower references from this movie, Anthony Hopkins REALLY needs to reprise his role as Ted Brautigan in the Dark Tower adaptations. All things serve the beam!
i haven't read the book yet and haven't seen the movie either but i honestly thought it had something to do with Atlantis the lost empire when i first heard the title lol

was the movie anything like the book, ya know, mentioning that ted is a breaker and all that?

I love this beautiful movie especially Anton Yelchin's acting - extremely high level for his age. Anthony Hopkins and Hope Davis were great as well.
