Guys I played this game and Ill gave it 8/10. yea it's hard and lacks continues but IN MY Opinion One of the Greatest Batman games for its time along with new gen Arkham games

I have fond memories of playing this game with my brother. I do remember its difficulty, but it never seemed to bother me as much as other games. I wouldn't have rated it so low--probably a 7/10 for me.
@johneymute: That's not true. It's Konami who seemed to use the same instrument samples over and over. From what I understand, The Super NES doesn't have onboard instruments to use, while the Genesis has a bank of instruments on the console as the only instruments composers can work with.
Whining waaaaaaay too much man. Batman & Robin on the Genesis was great fun. It was hard, yes but that's a GOOD thing. Plus I loved the soundtrack. It wasn't faithful to the Animated series, but it definitely got me and my brother hype while we were playing back then.
This game had the best music of its era. Jesper Kyd has since gone on to do huge compositions for games such as Assassin's Creed and various films. It is known for its great music, not how bad the music is. The game is difficult, yes, but by no means is it the most difficult Batman game ever. Return of The Joker and even Batman for the regular NES are far more difficult. Level designs are also some of the best in the era, particularly Wonderland, as you guys suggested.
Wow wasn't expecting this. I remember when I was a kid, most reviewers picked the Genesis version over the SNES, and I was a total SNES fanboy back then, but the challenge in the Genesis version really did add something special to that game while the SNES game felt like another superhero beat 'em up (and I think Batman Returns was better). The soundtrack in Genesis was awesome too. Both are good games, but I guess gamers these days can't take a challenge.

These "reviewing-couple" are just raging about that fact and treating the superior version of the two like utter garbage just because they are below-average players who can't accept a game that offers a minimum of challenge and quality excellence.
I had so much great memories with the snes version, but it just doesnt hold the test of time. I tried to be creative and offer something new in every level, but it had some gameplay flaws. Although the look and feel of this game were really good.
I really Loved the music in the genesis one back in the time. Thanks FSinWCR for allowing me to meet Jesper Kyd, I didnt know he also made Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood OST !! Amazing!
no disrespect, but terrible review for the sega genesis game, i dont know about the snes one, havent played it. But One, there is a stage select cheat for the sega genesis game, as well as one to get lives (LOL i used both of em b4). Mat hatter definately isnt the hardest stage (id say mr.freeze just like most ppl here) and the music is soooo sick for a Sega Genesis game (that one is debatable).

The game was still in the age of bust your balls difficulty you either had or lacked the ability to play the game. Actually all those clips were recorded off my genesis. THat's us playing. We beat the game dozens of times. She likes it more then I do. Its impossible to get high quality clips online. Plus in my line of work, that would be stealing anyway. All reviews need to feature your own footage, or atleast have legal consent from the developers, if you're going to showcase trailers etc.
@acuidad i agree with you about the nintendo fanboys part,and how they always say evrything but the nintendo version is shit.but i actwally do prefer the snes version over the genesis version.remember that this is based on the show,so the one that follows the show closest would come up on top.but yes,the genesis version is awsome.

Honestly i gotta say. when I first had the genesis version. I played that game every single day in high school. It is true the game is hard especially the mad hatter boss level. I would give it a 6 out 10. Plus more what made this game shine is the grapics. If this game was in 3D it would've been REALLY awesome.

@molibladeworks That's not true. They also do close-combat techniques if they are close enough to the enemies. Keep in mind this is a run and gun game more than a beat 'em up (like the SNES version is, albeit a slow and repetitive one), so it's obvious the primary focus attack has to rely on shooting.

I've only played the Genesis version, but I can truly say most of you commentators are out of line. You can not expect that opinions won't influence the review. I really enjoyed the genesis AoB&R and feel that you didn't give a true review of the game, but I respect your opinion all the same.
I definitely need this game. I like the SNES version, which is version I want because of all the cool stuff you get and all the moves and the characters in it. The real reason I want to have this game and play it is because it was from Konami, which also made Batman Returns, in which I have that game. It's because they were my favorite company during the NES and SNES era. And yes, this is definitely the best Batman game there is!

The music didn't exactly fit the atmosphere though. If Batman Beyond were made a few years earlier, they could have used the music for a game based on THAT world.

Based on how the gameplay looks, I kind of agree with that the SNES one looks really good. I don't think you said it, but the Genesis Adventures of Batman and Robin can't be the worse Batman game. I think something like Batman (1) from the regular Nintendo would be in that order. The Genesis game just doesn't look right for the character Batman. The guy punches a lot more than he flings things at villians.

I rember this game. some so-called "Friends" of mine stole it and a good bit of my favorite SNES collection as well. My mom had some epic foreshadowing going on because she was right about that. Well good thing about Emulators I could get them back if I wanted...
Don't agree with your review about the background music of the game ... it was techno but it suited the way the game was played and well it was a bit difficult when you first play it ... but I was able to complete the whole game without even using a credit ( so much for the game being 'too' difficult )...to me this game was not made for kiddos...and the SNES version was utter crap as compare to the Genesis. although batman for the snes is more true to the animated series and has a lot of cool things like the wall jump and grappling hook but you don't use them too much i mean you should have a lot more jumping in the stages so it's pretty boring this game is like someone giving you x ray glasses invisibility and super strength and then taking you to a deserted island and leave you there not letting you have any fun with them or someone else to appreciate you for them...
I agree with the reviewer, The batman game on sega sucked ass while the batman game on SNES owned all batman games. The riddler stage by itself owns the whole Sega batman game.

the score was scripted as a Joke, its a decent Gunstar heroes clone. My score system was flawed back then. I actually watched my 1st Batman Returns review and was like...what am i talking about. This video had an excellent script..but bad mics and the clips didn't match even 70% of time we were talking about something. I probably will end up redoing these 2 reviews. But they will be much longer episodes like 10 mins each. This was condensed to fit with YT's strict time limit.

I grew up with three Batman games on my Genesis including the one you reviewed in this episode.

SNES version is boring. save for a couple decent boss fights, the gameplay itself couldn't be more boring.
The Genesis port is fun, challenging, and has an amazing soundtrack from Jesper Kyd. Definitely deserving of better props.

Its only so powerful provided you don't die.
I'm serious die once and weapon losses its potency(need to collect 3 disks of same colour to recover weapon)

@molibladeworks That's not true. They also do close-combat techniques if they are close enough to the enemies. Keep in mind this is a run and gun game more than a beat 'em up (like the SNES version is, albeit a slow and repetitive one), so it's obvious the primary focus attack has to rely on shooting.

I've only played the Genesis version, but I can truly say most of you commentators are out of line. You can not expect that opinions won't influence the review. I really enjoyed the genesis AoB&R and feel that you didn't give a true review of the game, but I respect your opinion all the same.

I definitely need this game. I like the SNES version, which is version I want because of all the cool stuff you get and all the moves and the characters in it. The real reason I want to have this game and play it is because it was from Konami, which also made Batman Returns, in which I have that game. It's because they were my favorite company during the NES and SNES era. And yes, this is definitely the best Batman game there is!

It had a level select code too, which kind of owns level select passwords.
Genesis version is easily the better game.

The music didn't exactly fit the atmosphere though. If Batman Beyond were made a few years earlier, they could have used the music for a game based on THAT world.
And it DOES look too hard. Also, don't "REAL gamers" frown down upon codes?

ABR Genesis = ultra hardcore impressive adrenaline fueled action
ABR SNES = non threatening fomulaic platformer
Also shock horror! Americans who don't like Tecno! never thought I'd live to see that huge surprise..... Not -____-
And seriously I completed ABR Genesis in literally a week, if it had a continue option there's no way it would've lasted more than a couple of hours at best.

I only played this game when I felt like I was in the 'zone'. Ze gaming zone! I loved this game! I believed the makers made the game for 'players' not whiners. Get your skills up, kids. Go grab ya black&mild, forty and punch an infant in the face...now you're ready.

Based on how the gameplay looks, I kind of agree with that the SNES one looks really good. I don't think you said it, but the Genesis Adventures of Batman and Robin can't be the worse Batman game. I think something like Batman (1) from the regular Nintendo would be in that order. The Genesis game just doesn't look right for the character Batman. The guy punches a lot more than he flings things at villians.

Worst Batman game ever made is a tuss up between Batman & Robin (PSX)
Batman Beyond Return of the Joker (N64) and Dark Tomorrow. I have yet to Review BB Return of the Joker and Batman & Robin. I have DT like a 1/10 or 2/10 I can't remember. THat was almost 2yrs ago.

I rember this game. some so-called "Friends" of mine stole it and a good bit of my favorite SNES collection as well. My mom had some epic foreshadowing going on because she was right about that. Well good thing about Emulators I could get them back if I wanted...

Don't agree with your review about the background music of the game ... it was techno but it suited the way the game was played and well it was a bit difficult when you first play it ... but I was able to complete the whole game without even using a credit ( so much for the game being 'too' difficult )...to me this game was not made for kiddos...and the SNES version was utter crap as compare to the Genesis. Don't you guys know who made the music, the great 'Jesper Kyd', go find some other job !

although batman for the snes is more true to the animated series and has a lot of cool things like the wall jump and grappling hook but you don't use them too much i mean you should have a lot more jumping in the stages so it's pretty boring this game is like someone giving you x ray glasses invisibility and super strength and then taking you to a deserted island and leave you there not letting you have any fun with them or someone else to appreciate you for them...

You would have to be an extra special brand of idiot to think that the SEGA version is even in the same league as the SNES version. None of that "they are both good" crap.
The SEGA version is a lame shooter dressed up with batman, and the SNES is an INCREDIBLE batman experience. EPIC.

the score was scripted as a Joke, its a decent Gunstar heroes clone. My score system was flawed back then. I actually watched my 1st Batman Returns review and was like...what am i talking about. This video had an excellent script..but bad mics and the clips didn't match even 70% of time we were talking about something. I probably will end up redoing these 2 reviews. But they will be much longer episodes like 10 mins each. This was condensed to fit with YT's strict time limit.
