I agree with you guys that this theme suits the atmosphere after the game. But I think it should not be played at the final. It was played immediately after Japan beat USA on penalties in the 2011 WWC and it ruined the atmosphere of how it felt after loosing a WC final.

I don't understand why they used this for the Women's World Cup as well. IMO the song has a tribal feel that went so well with South Africa but doesn't fit with Germany at all. That said, there are so many memories from the World Cup with this song!

They used the same songs, but they took out the drums and the vocals, so that it doesn't have the African feel anymore. So it's the same song, but a much different feel.

I like this music being used for the women's world cup coverage on ESPN. It is great but something is missing from it. The chorus. Don't get me wrong, I honestly think the 2010 World Cup may be in my book the best sports open EVER. The music, the set up, scenery, the cg work, and the feel. I usually get goose bumps with Super Bowl opens. I always had a thing for sports opens since I was young. This may be the best of the best. Hard to top.

What a great theme, this added so much dramatic effect when Japan lost to Paraguay in penalties, the players and fans in tears, hearing this song you just felt for them. They beautiful game also hurts.

@Burn845285 It was playing over and over again on the espn channel called ESNa. It was just a blank screen that listed the upcoming match while this song played in the back ground. It would play over and over again for a couple of hours some time... I fell asleep to it one night as well :D
