  • What fantastic upload, who else but Elvis would be so honest and sincere. 10****+++ and added to favs. thanks.

  • Fantastic. He packs 'em out - even in a blizzard!!!!!!!!

  • really? remember how good it sounded? I wonder why the recording was scrubbed? Do you remember the hero worship at the end?

  • sexykatie90 HAPPY NEW YEARS

  • I was at this concert. I was 15 years old. I still can't believe I got front row centre.

This brings back a lot of memories from that magical night. I think I cried all the way through the show. I was so happy to be there. Nobody has ever equaled Elvis before or since. Thank you for posting this.

  • @PaulineHere you must be so lucky then I would like to hear more memories from u.

  • @urfever We drove up from Toronto, Canada to the Pontiac Silverdome in the worst snow storm. I also had a pass to the after party (my dad got me the front row ticket and the pass as he worked for a bus company that chartered buses to the concert). I vividly remember the charged atmosphere at the concert. I was your typical hysterical teenager at her idol's concert and couldn't take pics as I was shaking so much, so got the guy sitting next to me to take them for me. LOL. To be cont'd ...

  • @PaulineHere Continuing...The stage setup was awful as he was on a circular stage with the audience all the way around the stage. The stage was about 15 feet high and 60 feet wide. Luckily, I was on the side of the stage that he was facing. I remember at one point in the concert he started signing, "Wooden Heart"...just a few bars, but decided not to continue singing the whole song. There were over 80,000 fans at this concert, making it the largest audience of his career...To be cont'd....

  • @PaulineHere Continuing ...I did hear that Elvis didn't like the setup of the stage as the fans at the back of the stage hardly saw his face. All they would have seen was the back of the drummer. Can you imagine getting front row seats & then getting there & finding you're behind the drummer?? As Elvis sang his final song, "Can't Help Falling In Love With You", I realized it was about to end. I jumped up and waved like a crazy woman and caught his attention...he smiled and left the stage.

  • @PaulineHere P.S. Elvis wasn't at the "after party" unfortunately. I think I really would have made a fool of myself if he had been! LOL.

  • @PaulineHere I meant to add he split his pants and had to leave the stage to change. Upon returning he said he was a "quick change artist" as he'd only been gone for what seemed like seconds. LOL.

  • @PaulineHere could you get those pictures from him? :) oh god. it must be great to see him.

  • This was 1974

  • wish rca would have rec orded more concerts also the colonel should have made a deal with the networks to do one or two tv specials every year from 1969-1977

  • Too cool! I'm on a mission to find out who I took to this concert. We snuck in but giving the guard $5 each. We had the best seats too!

  • HELLO 1976 - GOODBYE 1975 (Review written by Paul Lichter MEMPHIS FLASH vol.3, #1 January-February 1976)

December 28, 1975 - Along with my wife Janice, I arrived at Detroit's Metro Airport on Sunday evening. The first thing that caught my eye was a huge window display for "ELVIS IN HOLLYWOOD." We picked up our rented car and drove to the hotel. December 31, 1975: The big day had finally arrived, When I got to the TV studio to appear on the AM Detroit Show.

  • I was also scheduled to do the Lou Gordon Show later in the day but I decided to pass on it as I had to get to Pontiac Stadium. In the center of the huge football field was a round stage, some 36 feet high. Attached to the stage was a 70 yard walkway with the words HAPPY NEW YEAR written on the side. Elvis would use this walkway to get to the stage. Jackie Kahane, dressed in a red velvet suit acted as the MC. He introduced the following acts: Pony Mountain Express, Freedom, JD & Stamps, and

  • the Sweet Inspirations. The thought of playing to 60,000 people had Elvis very nervous. While waiting to appear Elvis learned of a bomb scare and an assassination attempt. At 11pm this courageous man made his way down the long runway, pausing to take a deep breath, then bolted onto the stage like a tiger let out of a cage. 60,000 people, including his beautiful daughter Lisa Marie and his father Vernon were going wild. Elvis stated that he was nervous but didn't mention the threats.

  • The lights reflected off his beautiful white studded jumpsuit as he sang and danced wildly around the stage. He sang "CC Rider" "I Got A Woman" "Trying To Get To You" "You Gave Me A Mountain" "Don't Be Cruel" "All Shook Up" "Teddy Bear" "Heartbreak Hotel" and "One Night". The audience was going insane when Elvis went into "Polk Salad Annie". This was the best I've ever seen Elvis perform this number. He was moving like the wind when the pants on his jumpsuit split. Elvis finished the song

  • and went to change his suit. He returned in what seemed like seconds and told the audience that he was a "quick change artist." After introducing the band, he sang "Now or Never" "My Way" "How Great Thou Art." (WOW) It was now 3 minutes until twelve, and Elvis began to sing his first movie song "Love Me Tender." The clock on the stadium scoreboard stood at 10 seconds to the New Year. Elvis began the countdown 10-9-8- "Happy New Year" balloons began to fall from the sky and Elvis asked everyone

  • to join him in singing "Auld Lang Syne." The spotlight swirled and cheers were deafening. Elvis then sang an unbelievable version of "America". At the song's end he received a standing ovation. He sang "Wooden Heart" next then thanked the audience for setting a new indoor attendence record for the largest crowd ever to attend rock concert. He closed the show with the beautiful "Can't Help Falling In Love". This beautiful man had just given the performance of his life and given us something to be

  • thankful for, for years to come. "Happy New Year" January 5, 1976: It's now 5 days later and I'm back in Philly writing this article. Well, it's a New Year and I hope you all had a ball. Some 10,000 of you were lucky enough to spend NY Eve with Elvis. I'm sure it was a night that you won't soon forget. As you know on January 8, Elvis will be 41.

  • FASHION: ELVIS' TIGHT PANTS - EP brought in the New Year by swiveling his hips too hard and splitting his tight, white pants. He left the stage and returned a few minutes later. He explained what happened and apologized. He said he was nervous, performing before a crowd that paid almost $1 million to see him. It was Elvis' largest live audience in a 20 year career.

  • @SoulKissin Thank you so much for sharing your memories, they are truly fascinating and wonderful to read. If I may ask a question, was the jumpsuit Elvis changed into after splitting his trousers different than the one he was wearing previously? Again, thank you.

  • These fans this evening in 1975, will never forget this New Years Celebration. I wish I could bring in the New Year with Elvis Presley. Such lucky people.

  • I was at this concert, and I have my stub also! It was so wonderful!

  • you were there? Oh my God! were you able to take pic?

  • Νο, Ι didn't get to take any photo's.

  • I can only hope that Elvis really knew how much we fans truly loved him. He sounds very humble here and gracious even though he may not like the conditions!

  • Thank you SOULKISSING, for beautiful

memories, I assist at this concert.

    I kept the ticket stub.

Beautiful concert from a beautiful man.

    THE KING

  • I was at that concert...it remains a highlight to this day!

  • I was just gonna put up a "Part 4" and that would be my tribute to that awesome New Year....1976!

  • you sir are a artist....you made this video so watchable and intresting....i salute you....this is going to my favourites and i,m subscibing to your site.....2 questions...what were those fans shouting at elvis when he was talking towards the end [ it sounded angry and rude]....and what did you see of elvis on the stage [ disciption please]...thank you.

  • I'm not sure...at what time frame? Elvis had a twisted colon at this time and he was pretty big. I should dig out the review by Paul Lichter (Elvis Unique Record Club)...I subscribed to his monthly fan magazine & he also attended show and wrote a great review. There was a bomb threat that night, but Elvis bravely came on stage.

  • from 5.20 to 5.30....a guy is shouting something at elvis...it sounds rude and angry.....

  • The audio is great. Thanks so much for the great video.

  • it gets loud...still sounds like a bootleg unfortunately, I guess it's the best we'll ever get. I know they had a soundboard of the historic show, I was one of the last fans out of the stadium that night. We had a party of 6 to get back together...our tickets were in sets of two. Plus I had a cast on at the time...I had broken my ankle playing vollyball at high school.

  • pt. 2: I heard them start replaying the

"2001" intro over the speakers. Sounded like the concert was starting all over again. lol It had EXCELLENT sound...too bad it was erased.

  • @SoulKissin Yes, I remember that happening. I was thinking the concert was starting again and actually sat back down! LOL. Can't believe they erased it!
