This is embarrassing. It is worse than a Spectrum visually. Post-1985 BBC conversoins are not generally that good, however. Original games on the BBC and Acornsoft early arcade classics are good, however.
The BBC was capable of doing a version similar to the Commodore 64. Just lazy programming. When programmers were paid the same weekly wage no matter what you did, some of them were more enthusiastic than others!
Crikey, they've gone for detailed graphics over colour. Doesn't look as playable as other versions. I see there's a maniac with a Sinclair C5. He's probably used to having things thrown at him so I wouldn't feel at all guilty lobbing a rolled up paper in his face.
Many games were more advanced on other systems, and Paperboy is one of the biggest examples. This version was still fun to play, though. The two-colour graphics were the main drawback; the Been was capable of more. I think it was more down to budget and not putting as much time in on programming as much as system limitations.
i thou the spectrum version was bad but seeing this one oh lord what a joke.

Interesting...thought the bbc software scene was almost perished by the timepaperboy was released.
