Played this in college once. People laughed at me at this section saying I sucked, to which I always responded 'you have a go then.' And they died 5 times and would give up.

When I made that save point. I cheered, and by cheered, I mean ran around the room Hugging people.

Did you happen to use Joy2Key while playing the game instead of setting the controls to Joystick? If so, there's a very great chance that your jump button is going to malfunction like crazy. Basically, if you hold the jump button and press any direction button, it triggers (or releases) the jump button again. That's what happens with me and my PS2 Dual Shock 2 controller, anyway. Works perfectly fine if you set the in-game controls to use the Joystick, though the buttons are odd...

Since I've never owned a PC controller or anything of that sort, and have always had to play on keyboard, I can safely say, this is not the case. T_T I'm stuck on this useless keyboard - like I have been in my many adventures in Mega Man games as well as SMB3...oh lord, the evil last stage of World 5...bad memories...

Oh, well I think I know what happened, then... Maybe you were pressing too many buttons at once? Most keyboards tend to crap out if certain combinations of buttons (or any three or four buttons) are pressed and held at once.

The thing is all you have to know is about decent timing and how the game's phisics are. I kind of also cheated by getting used to the game so it was like i studied it i'll put a vid up or something.

Seriously though, getting frustrated and impatient doesn't help you in this game! Believe me, I've had my ups and downs with this game, so I know how it is (also, in IMPOSSIBLE attempts of mine, I got killed by a zombie and a tombstone before XD)! Heck, I did much worse than you did at this point my first run (I was stuck at that spiked wall for SEVERAL hundred deaths my first run).
