Does Canada have any military parades like China does, or Russia? With A LOT of men and women marching in large groups down the street, and with many tanks and other vehicles all in formation?
No, Because Canada is so vast it would be stupid to put all the soldiers in one place. Waste of time and effort. RCMP has done it though for the funeral of 4 fallen Mounties they got thousands of RCMP members to march to the ceremony
@TastyGenitals nope a big show like that costs lots of money that the tax payers will not like. and really there is no reason for that. Plus our military is way to small.
@Johnalexgray Big show? The military involvement in the Stampede is hardly "big". Driving a few armored vehicles down a few blocks doesn't cost very much FYI.
hey guys, I have been asking the guys at the canadian forces booth in stampede and other people.. the tank they come with is a leopard 1 but in identification board in their display platform inside the stampede infront of it they write it as leopard 2 why is that?..
Canada currently uses both the Leopard 1a5 (in Canada we call it the C2, because of various modifications and improvements made by the CF) and the brand new Leopard 2a6m's. The old C2's (as seen in this video) are being phased out by the resent purchase of some 120 (dont know the exact numbers, sorry) new Leopard 2a6m's. Reservists units will probably continue using the C2 for some time to come, as it is still a capable tank.
@m1up I didnt end up going to stampede this year, despite being right in calgary, I wonder if they showed the same one as before. Thanx for clearing up the "2" mystery I probably saw the C2 and read it as Leopard 2. But yeah 2A6M would be sweet.
Yeah, I didn't go either. I suppose working there for 2 seasons previously has given me enough stampede for awhile!
Yeah, I actually saw a vid of this years parade and it was the same vehicles as years before. Still, there is something I find cool about an older tank like the C2. Hopefully the KOCR will get to keep the C2 as well as get a 2a6m. That would be awesome!

That bass drum was the only thing we had going for us until buddy on the bass decided he was Dave Grohl. I was in the rear and keeping in step was hard. Hope it looked good from the sidewalks!
I was in this parade and im sorry for the bad marching lol. the bass drummer got into this "fancy drums" thing and we couldnt keep step. our left foot is suppose to hit the ground on the bass drum....but when its going crazy its hard lol. Bass drummers of the m,ilitary....NO MORE FANCY DRUMS
I love western Canadians.. they collectively contribute to Canada's coolness :D
