  • The Flying Myrtles by Jk Cowan For kid Welch

  • Atonement trivia: Did you know that in the liberty scene the director was telling keira and James exactly where to move and put their hands until the got halfway through the scene and shouted “ok Keira wank him off!” then 10- minutes of awkward silence a whisper comes form the director “sorry about that” lol I love that story.

  • I don't suppose anyone has the full track that the piano bit at 1:12 is from? I've heard it in other videos and I'd like to hear the full track, if one exists.

  • God, I wish they would make a movie where James McAvoy is together with yet another beautiful women actress, where they actually end up together happily ):

  • The..the narrator kinda killed it.

  • @tarjay35 yea, he kinda did -______-

  • Keira Knightley is a bad actress... the movie is great though.

  • @leoniddead I couldn't agree more.

  • @leoniddead No she really isn’t

  • @SinisterNight96 yes she is. what makes you think she's a good actress? in real life, people don't make these ultradrama faces...: "coome back to mee..ohhhhh" please.

  • @leoniddead Because of her very long list of awards including being nominated for a golden globe for best actress in atonement and pride and prejudice. Also films like: Atonement The duchess Pride & Prejudice Love Actually King Arthur Ext You just don’t have bad actresses in films that good. And She played the character exactly how Cecilia is portrayed in the book. That’s why
  • @SinisterNight96 are these award nominations something like the fucking bible or what? I give a shit about her list of nominations. how many times have I seen shit movies because I read the critics that praised those movies into heaven and proved their assumption with some award nomination blabering. and also, it kinda seems like keira is playing "cecilia" in all of her movies.

  • @leoniddead Oh I am glad you “give a shit about” her nominations (try to include all you words)

Really sorry as I thought that you were calling her a bad actress where as you just have bad perception, and apparently an opinion not even worth considering. you said you liked this movie. So don’t be so contradictory in your defence.

That was a terrible come back. And you just got owned.

  • @SinisterNight96 ... :D what is your case? I do like this movie.. but not because it's nominated or awarded or whatsoever. I can actually think of one perfomance of keira I liked, in the movie "last night" ...haha, so u feel happy now? u kinda didn't get what I was saying anyway.. and so I used the word "shit" does that make me a person without perception? or I don't share the opinion of some film critics, does that mean I have a bad perception? what kind of logic is that. get over it, girl.

  • @leoniddead My god you really don’t pay any attention to what you are reading it was not because said “shit” it was because said “I give a shit” meaning I agree with you. Hence “include all of your words” I would say do you want me to spell it out for you but I actually have and you still don’t acknowledge what I have said. You said Keira Knightley was a bad actress and so far I have proved you wrong. You cannot have a good movie with bad actors and actresses in it, that is what I am saying.

  • @SinisterNight96 I was going to write : "i don't give a shit" however, .. you didn't prove anything, because the world is not black and white.. ofcourse there can be good movies with some bad perfomances in it, also there can be bad movies with good perfomances in it... it's a little more differentiated, don't you think? also, this is an opinion.. I have reasons for my opinion, you can have reasons for yours... why do we have to argue about this???

  • @leoniddead One because your opinion has nothing to back it up and 2 because this is just plane funny to piss people off on YouTube. Clearly you haven’t caught on o the fact that I will NEVER get board of this “conversation”. And I new it was a typo but I thought it necessary to fuck with you.

  • @SinisterNight96 my brain is my back up, girly. I have my reasons, but actually I don't even have to have reasons.. because it's just an opinion about the perfomance of some actress. .. you're kind of insane, do you know that? possessed and insane. :D

  • @leoniddead I would appreciate it if you didn’t refer to me as “girly” you insufferable, sexist basted.

Also if you only have you brain to back up your “opinion” then I really don’t think that it’s much to shout about, do you. especially dew to you badly worded and incoherent retaliation.

  • @SinisterNight96 no, actually i think girly is just the right expression for you. I already backed up my opinion, you probably must have missed it. I remember your backup..her nominations, which for me is not a real backup. you basically saying that shit must taste good, because a thousand flies like to bustle around it. oh, sorry.. was that to difficult for you to understand? was I being incoherent again? think again.

  • @leoniddead Ok first of all, how is “girly” the right description for me. What gives you that impression.

  • @SinisterNight96 your pussy

  • @leoniddead Its said “you’re A pussy” and for Christ sake get it right. I am really not grily as you put it, for one thing, I watch Top gear (look it up if you don’t know what it is) one of my favourite films is the Bourne identity not to mention I really like shooting (that’s with guns not cameras) please don’t assume obviously inaccurate things about me just because I think keira knightly is a good actress. Your terrible when it comes to insults, yours your imagination!

  • @SinisterNight96 i like to watch your mother.

  • @leoniddead Ok, now you’re just not making sense. I was hoping to have a proper argument with somebody but clearly you don’t have the mind capacity to with hold a remotely intelligent convocation with a human being. You’re such a failure.

  • The little girl is from the movie "Hanna"!

  • pleaseee could someone tell me what does Cee say after Briony asks her "why don't you talk to robbie"?

  • @MartinaBurton --she says " I do, we just move in different circles thats all"

  • @mrswintro oooh thanks, but it's still difficult to understand it even if i know what she says..it's really fast!

  • BEST TRAILER EVER!!!

  • the trailer is so touching and well made, I really love it. I had goosebumps all over my body.

  • It's about ATONINGfor what she had done, hence the name of the movie ATONEMENT, writing them an alternative life was her way of creating ATONEMENT for her past sins....

  • Briony gave them life in her book. Because she knew that she ruined it for them. And she wanted to atone for that. Hence, the name of the story.

  • Does Briony die?

  • In the end she's old and dying of dementia

  • Yes, that is why she is telling the story of her life and the truth about what happened to Cecelia and Robbie.

  • i love this movie ♥

btw, does anyone know the song from1:15-1:17

    and 1:47 - 2:05 ?

  • @laelliee

the song from 1:15 is 'breathing space' by x-ray dogs :)

  • Comment removed

  • Robbie is hot.

I absolutely love this movie! I want to buy the book now and read it.

  • Whoever read the book/saw the movie and thinks they lived obviously did not read/watch the end

  • I read the book-they both die, briony just couldn't handle the guilt so she wrote a story that gave them a happy ending.

  • this is my favorite movie! the music starts at 2:07 can describe this epic film

  • one of my favourite!

  • I love that film! It's so beautiful and touching.

She's such a good actress not to mention pretty :)

The line "I love you, come back to me" makes me cry in that scene. xo

  • amazing...so sad but so beautiful

  • great movie but the book is much more better :)

  • i actually liked the movie better than the book

  • perfect movie of how life can be unfair to those most underserving...it's so painful, because we can see the 'reality' in it...just proves the the 'good' don't always win in the end, or that justice prevails...

  • Why didn't Briony go to jail for life since she lied? She had no right to say anything to the police because she wanted to ruin Ce and Robbie. How come Robbie went to jail and not her? They have no right or reason to believe Robbie raped Lola. Briony should've been arrested for lying and no one should've believe that stupid girl. She's horrible and she acts like she never meant to ruin her sister but she knew all along.

And Robbie and Ce did marry. Briony wrote them dead in her book.

  • wen ever keira has some super romantic-y scene, her voice always shhhhakkes

  • BRILLIANT MOVIE

    great actors

i read the book and i saw the movie

they are not very different in my opinion

but in the book you can understand briony and her fellings a bit better

but anyway this movie is AWESOME

  • Damn. This movie looks so good. I'm only a 16 year old boy who likes action & comedy, but this is catching me, that girl playing is realy pretty!!! I wanna see this.

  • Retarded Spoiler !!!

  • ive read the book! they die of old age.

  • no they don`t. he dies in the war and she is killed by a bomb in the subway

  • seriously, i can only agree with you (being born in 92 too). ok, not because of keira (& james is not bad either) but the whole plot seems so thoughtful and intriguing.

& as a response to Bandsparty4, for once we get a not so superficial 'to make money' action blockbuster, don t try to ruin it. if you can t go any further than watching cars exploding, than don t try to watch something that s too intellectually challenging for you.

  • It is like another version of Romeo and Juliet. You will be very depressed at the end of the movie. I really didn't like Briony throughout the whole movie but she was very nice when she gave them a chance to be happy in the book but not so nice in real life. The end scene made me cry so much.

  • she was too sneak to admit killing both of them, so she gave a chance. I think the end is just cowardice of her and the director also.

  • what do u mean?

  • @tetronoah i dont understand..

  • Briony wasn't nice at all. If she were nice, she wouldn't have lied. She had no right or reason to lie about Robbie. She knew he didn't do it, yet she said he did and nearly ruined his life w/Ce. And she didn't give them a happy ending because 1)she's too cruel to think of others before herself and 2) Robbie and Ce didnt' die. They married and lived in that cottage. If they didnt', no one would like this movie.

  • Robbie and Ce did die. Robbie died in a war and Ce died in a flood. At the end of the movie Briony gave them a happy ending because she knew what she did wrong so in her book she made Robbie and Ce get married and live happly ever after. I think u need to watch the end of the movie again and listen to it carefully.

  • They did die. Robbie Turner died of septicemia and Ce was killed by the bomb that destroyed the gas and water mains above Underground station. In the end, Briony knew that she did something wrong and wrote a happy ending for them in her book. They never met each other after the war they just died.

  • They did die. The scene showing them in that happy ending is what she's placed in the book to give the reader (watcher) a feeling of happyness when in reality they never got that happy ending. It's the hope people wanted and waited for but in reality didn't get because it's grounded in reality. We make mistakes as children because we cannot understand, yet as adults we refuse to own up to them because we regret our actions to the point where they haunt our lives forever. We all do it in a way.

  • If she really wanted to give her readers happiness, she would've made the happy ending real. Briony is as dumb as a box of rocks. There's no way she could make up a happy ending if it didn't happen. Sure we make mistakes, but none of us make mistakes that ruin lives. What Briony did wasn't a mistake. She knew Robbie was innocent and she sent him to suffer. If she wanted to atone, she had to have done so. That's why the movie's called Atonement.

  • this is one of a few film adaptations that actually live up to the book, both are amazing in my view! but so sad, watching the film always makes me cry... james mcavoy is amazing in it as robbie!!! love him, what a great actor- has anyone seen him in 'becoming jane', another great film with him in it!!!!

  • i have!! he is sexy in both! he is an awesome actor

  • my god i love this movie ... it always make me cry ... james is so hot there aand keira looks incredible ...

  • i want to see this sooo bad

  • i recommend to watch this movie..

  • This is a beautifully made movie, far from a happy movie, but moving and intense and passionate. I think its a terrific adaption of the book, and James McAvoy is incredible in it..its a movie worth taking the time to watch

  • so in the end they dont get together right?

  • In this movie I like so much Robbie, he make that you cry. Romola Garai is excellent and I like her so much but Keira is snob, I dont understand how Robbie can love such arrogant women

  • Poor Cecile. So sad that they housed children so much back then, that they warped their minds.

  • omg this movie is amazing but its sososo sad

  • i love this film, it is soooo good, makes you cry.

  • Seriously watch the first half hour and its fantastic. The rest is pretty dull.

  • Can someone tell me what this movie is about? I would really appreciate it if someone did.

  • its about a girl that has an overactive imagination and thinks she sees something that is the complete opposite and tells a lie in its favor that devastatingly destroys the lives of her sister and her sisters lover. which she tries to recieve forgivness for (aka atonement). its amazingly powerful. watch it. and if you ever have a chance read the book, even better.

  • What's the song that plays from 2:06 to the end? I really want to know.

  • I liked really like d this film...i cried on the end!:(

  • ahh this movie is so depressing i cried through 93% of the movie seriously

  • Even the trailer gives me chills. Brilliant film.

  • i just have a problem with how keira speaks... not the accent, but just how she phrases words and things. she tends to jut her chin out with she speaks or something. i can't put my finger on it.

  • lol i know in pride and prejudice she does this thing with her lips like she dips or something like that and it is quite anoyying

  • haha i'm glad i'm not the only one to pick this up.

  • What r u saying? Keira did it spleandidly!!!

  • The most beautiful film I have ever seen! I was screaming at the TV when watching the BAFTA's at how few awards it achieved!

And I think the scene with the letter and the content of the film, of what the lie included was why it was rated R. I wouldn't have understood the full extent of the story if I was any less than 10.

  • i've seen this movie. extremely sad and extremely awesome. the end is unbearably sad, i even though it's rated r its not really bad. the sex scene isn't graphic, the swearing is just "fuck" and stuff. not too harsh.

my 8 year old sis watched it.

  • was a brill film but so sad. the actin was gr8. nd james was sxc!

  • I wanted more of Keira .....this is no Zhivago but she makes up for what it lacks........thanks for posting!

  • keira?? she was the worst actor in it
