Good God- that's Ken Ward, one of my lecturers when I was in university. He used to tell us he wrote his books on a computer won on "Ask the Family"- now we know he was telling the truth!
Caroline Baynes looks spookily like Rosemary West. Hubby Simon doesn't much resemble Fred, I admit, although we all know the camera can lie and that many clergymen are rapists and murderers. And then there are Dan and Colin's gauche teenager smirks, which could easily be reinterpreted as the reflection of their shared knowledge about what's under the patio back home. If only we had read the signs earlier.
I LOVE LOOKING AT THESE PEOPLE THEY WERE SO SENSIBLE BACK THEN, I USE TO LAUGH AT THE FASHIONS AS I HAD A ROD STEWART HAIRCUT AND PEOPLE LIKE THIS WAS UNCOOL. BUT THIS LOOKS ALTERNATIVE NOW.
Todays family would consist of a Mother aged 14, her two kids and a man she met in a pub. He's not the kids' father as they've neither known or, indeed, shared a father.
To even get on the scoreboard questions would have to be about Soaps, Z list celebrities and how many Cuba Libras you can drink before the average person throws up.
The Police's "Message in a bottle" juxtaposes so oddly with this clip. That songs seems to modern and contemporary while Ask the Family (even with the people on here) seems like something out of the 50s!

I suppose it was inevitable that smug satirical comments could be made at the expense of their appearance.

They should have given them a button each, they all look so uncomfortable touching hands like that.

When they played the track by the Police, the two dads were looking around for inspiration. As if they had ever heard it before?

I LOVE that the music they make them listen is the Message In a Bottle by The Police :))
