I too was at this show. The absolute best when was when the whole band came out into the audience and still played. Only the drummer was left on stage, now that's cool!
It was at Macky Auditorium in Boulder. I was in high school, and I convinced 3 of my friends to go. This was a GREAT show, and I also saw the Stones, the Who and a few others. This Devo show stands up there as one of the all time best 3 I've ever seen in my mind.
oh man.. this songs so awesome.. yeah but like spore kid said.. the quality is poor.. this almost looks like the friday recordings.. there was this show called fridays.. or something.. and they apeared on stage with the treadmills and the plastic pompadores and those same suits.. SPUD BOY FOR LIFE!!!!
I've been a fan of this band for 30 years and this is the first time I've seen any footage from this tour (other than the Fridays appearance). Thanks a ton for posting this!
I was at this show - it was at the Macky Auditorium on the campus of Colorado University, in Boulder, CO. I got my ticket stub autographed by Mark Mothersbaugh! GO DEVO!!!!
The venue was Makay Auditorium on the University campus. I was there and they rocked. The best was during jocko homo when Mark rappelled off the balcony into the audience below, then crawled through the audience chnting "ARE WE NOT MEN?"
Yeah, I was right there where Mark rapelled down and he was very impressed with the potato necklaces that me and my friends were wearing. I gave Mark a potato and he took it up on stage for his next song! GO DEVO
I recorded this off of a TV show by putting the cassette recorder to the speaker. The clip sounded exactly like what I played over and over again. Thanks for the big time flash back!
I saw this tour! My first DEVO show in SF, December of 81. I still talk about this show to this day. It's hands down in my top 5 concerts ever. Love to see this footage. DEVO is still the greatest! Duty Now!
I co-run the DEVO bootleg archive at www.boojiboysbasement.com . I actually uploaded this to Soulseek, along with the other rare DEVO video that is now on Youtube, a few years back. Glad to see that people are able to view it.
STAGGERING! I never knew this existed. Uber rare is not an exaggeration; it was generous of Spudboy & electronictomato to share it. The Fab 5 used this gear on Fridays, the wretched SNL ripoff, in '81 when they guested, performing The Super Thing Theme Song, Jerkin Back n Forth, I Saw Jesus / Through Being Cool, and Working in the Coal Mine; what a night! I've watched my original VHS, since dubbed to disc, thousands of times but never thought I'd see THIS.
Notice the warning that progression can mean regression. In 1981 Devo use the illustation of treadmills and Ionic columns to show that "technology means progress" is myth, and in 2006 we're watching them on the internet, which some use as a tool for hatred, violence and terrorism. Anyone still think Devo were a novelty act? Learn the truth from Jihad Jerry, today's incarnation of Devo's Gerald V. Casale, at http://www.jihadjerry.com/

Man I wish I could have been there. I was 14 in 1981 and the biggest Devo fan west of the continental divide! I lived in Grand Junction Colorado.
