You made a wonderful choice based on truth & love. Your son certainly will thank you one day. I know... because of God's grace and the caring support of others I was able to make that same choice for the life of my own daughter 24 years ago. Since that time I have now been blessed with a grandaughter and a second on the way from this same daughter, whose life could have been ended if I had made the choice to abort instead. Praise God, that decision not only saved a life, but now two others!
I really respect you for what you did.. that was a great decision.. I was raped when i was 12 and i didnt want to get an abortion either i thought and thought. so i had decided that i wanted to keep the baby but i had a miscarriage but now.. i am 20 years old and i have two beautiful boys.. and they are my world! I'm so proud of you!!!!
First, I just want to say that I'm pro-choice. You made the right decision for you and I am happy that your son turned out to be happy and healthy. Congratulations. There's so much that needs to be thought about in a situation like this and you never really know until you experience it yourself. Some people make the other choice, and it's right for them... their choice!
speak for yourself. i know plenty of women who do not suffer from their abortions. you make sweeping generalizations about people which you cannto prove.
I'm speaking from personal experience, yes, but also from what health advocates report, as well as scientific studies.
Example; "A new study published in the journal BMC Psychiatry finds that women who have abortions typically experience high levels of post-traumatic stress disorder.
The study appeared in the July 2007 issue of the professional psychological publication... ".
You can't tell me that a woman who realizes that she's killed her baby wouldn't be traumatized.
did those women ahve prior histories of mental illness? were those pregnancies wanted but had to be terminated for some reason? were they forced or coerced into having them? do they come from religious backgrounds that would obviously incur guilt upon them?
Mickey, i can tell you that many women arent traumatized because they didnt kill anything except a group of cells. Unless you can prove to me it had all vital functions, including a heartbeat, brain activity, and breathing.
But you cant. So tell me... what makes having an abortion any different then scratching my arm and killing thousands of cells?

I've also seen the emotional & psychological scars having a child can have.
Also the scar on the child who may have to live a life not wanted and may possibly die at a young age due to unhealthy living environments. or mothers dying from not being healthy enough to give birth
so you tell me whats worse? Killing cells or causing the lives of human beings?

Thanks deana for your support.
What a touching story, I am so happy you made this choice. Many people say that it is a woman's "right" to choose to abort or not. But the truth is, no one has the right to just kill another person, especially a totally innocent one like an unborn baby.
May God bless you and your Child, and be with you always. I pray that you will also find a loving and caring (earthly) father for the baby soon, so you may raise a family and have a wonderfull life!
Wow this was a very moving video. I too believe life begins at conception and I commend you for having your baby (he is very beautiful BTW). Regardless of the circumstance of the conception a fetus is still an unborn child.

I have a choice, so do terrorists, so do abortionist, so do doctors, and murderers, we all have a choice to do what is right, not right , out of convenience or what ever you may say. we do have a choice. And God gave us that choice.. amazing that he can stand by and watch us do this...
I hope the woman raped filed charges against her rapist. They tend to be repeat offenders. If a woman chooses to forgive her rapist, fine. However, she still has a responsibility to protect others by filing. If I let a rapist off the hook, and he did rape again, it would be myself I could not forgive. Putting that all aside, I do respect her CHOICE to have the child. Personally, I couldn't go through with it. It is not the rapists right to choose for me or her. It's our choice.
I am definately pro-choice. And I can see that this woman made the right choice for herself. I respect that. It's hard to respect folks that allow others to make such important decisions for them.

"She was RAPED!!! That's not really "graceful" of "god" to allow that to happen, now is it?"
Winnie was raped & that is horrific. It wasn't her fault. Yes, God allowed (didn't want) it to happen. Jesus was also brutalized. Many people are every day... it grieves God.
Winnie is showing us that even though bad things happen to good people, we can survive & even thrive despite what happens to us.
Free will means we can do whatever we want to, even to the point of hurting ourselves and other people. It is only the intervention of consequences and conscience that prevent our total self-destruction. Grace won't ever take away our free will to heal or hurt, that's the awesome responsibility we have. Grace is about God's love healing the harm people have caused, when we ask Him to.
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing your story. Your son is your compensation for the pain you went through.
From your video I understood that the key in such big dilemma is to break the vicius "ego circle". To step away from what "I" want. To see things from the angle of my mother or the unborn child.
The abortion of our egoism is always the right choice. :-)
beautiful just BEAUTIFUL i loved every second of it. You are a TRULY a TRUE inspiration, truly beautiful inside in/out, and WOMEN as well and yer son is absolutely amazing!

Hi Lindsay.
Yes, there is a lot to be thought about. And it's not just about the health of the baby or what their life will be like.
Women who have abortions suffer for the rest of their lives, emotionally & psychologically, due to fact that they terminated their baby's life.
You can't escape that fact.

Ghostalker08 > "... many women arent traumatized because they didnt kill anything except a group of cells."
A group of cells, yes. But a very special group of cells that divide themselves to form a human being.
Complete with all the DNA to provide the genetic info for all that human's parts & functions, including hair & eye color.

20 days, the brain has already differentiated into forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain, and the spinal cord has started to grow."
Blackburn, ST. Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Physiology 2nd ed (2003)
All this is really beside the point.
Yes, inflicting pain on an innocent person is cruel, but what about that person's rights?
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
At the point of conception you have the beginning of that person's life.
What right do we have to harm, terminate, or otherwise impede that person's chance for the very best prenatal care?
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
A person's life begins when they are born. No one celebrates the day they were "conceived."
"Begins to form" and "functional" are completely different things.
Is the brain functional? Can it breathe on it's own? If not.. it's not living.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08 > "Is the brain functional? Can it breathe on it's own? If not.. it's not living."
Huh?
A zygote is living, even when it does have a brain.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
the medical definition of a living being is having all vital functions. The three are heartbeat, brain ACTIVITY, and Breathing.
Now prove that it has all three functional.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08 > "the medical definition of a living being is having all vital functions. The three are heartbeat, brain ACTIVITY, and Breathing."
Uhmm... no.
"Living organisms are capable of growth and reproduction... "

MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
well then... I guess the zygote can reproduce then? I didnt think so.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08 > "well then... I guess the zygote can reproduce then? I didnt think so."
Zygotes are reproducing cells.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
all cells are reproducing besides brain cells after a point in which they dont.
But what you fail to realize is that there is a huge difference between the life of cells and the life of a human being.
No one sees the destruction of cells as killing or else everyone would be murderers.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08 > "But what you fail to realize is that there is a huge difference between the life of cells and the life of a human being."
Yes, you're right. No one objects to killing hair or even scraping off skin cells.
But they aren't self-replicating, autonomous cells.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
Not only that, how could it possibly continue to grow if it wasn't alive?
Something that's dead is growing?
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
The significant part is that a zygote is a complete, DNA & chromosome wise, but immature & living person.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
that is what makes a human being?!? I didnt know that a string of DNA IS a living human being even though DNA can exist even after a person is dead.
face it buddy, your whole "killing" talk isnt gonna work. You cant make up what the definition of a living human being is.
And if you say that it is living, you know what that makes it right? A parasite. Something everyone kills off. No one want s a parasite in them.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08, examine your logic.
DNA can exist in a DEAD person...
We're talking about some one that's ALIVE.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
yea.. but if DNA is what makes someone alive, then how can it exist in something dead?
And you are still talking about killing self-replicating CELLS. No one cares what kind they are. They are still just cells.
I like how you ignore my "parasite" comment also. lol
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
"And you are still talking about killing self-replicating CELLS. No one cares what kind they are. They are still just cells."
Ah... but that is the point. Self-replicating, multi-coded cells are special, they are a complete, separate being.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
"yea.. but if DNA is what makes someone alive, then how can it exist in something dead?"
The DNA does't make them alive, it assists in making them alive by providing code for replication & growth... in zygotes, the end product of gestation is a fully functioning baby, then child, teenager, etc.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
"the end product"
I rest my case.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
"I rest my case."
Uhmm... which case would that be?
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
that it isnt murder or killing of a human life.
You said it yourself that it is only self-replicating cells.
Or if you want to say it is alive, it is a parasite. HAHAHA. Funny to think about.
Ghostalker08 2 years ago
Ghostalker08 > "that it isnt murder or killing of a human life.

Murder is the killing of a human life.
A zygote is a human life.

I've seen the horrible aftermath abortion leaves.
The emotional & psychological scars years later.

You cant assume that everyone who has one has abortion has scars.
The fact is. Everyone has the choice to have an abortion. They know whether they are in a position to raise a child or not.
And sir, why did you never comment on my "parasite" remark? People tend to not know how to respond to that.

MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
"The fact is. Everyone has the choice to have an abortion. They know whether they are in a position to raise a child or not."
That's actually a very small part of the issue.
More to the point is human rights of the baby.
MikeyCanuck123 2 years ago
rights of the baby? But you said that they are just cells that form into a baby.
So therefor it has no rights. they are just cells. You said that yourself. "Special cells"
