Countries like India and China need to start pulling their weight in terms of developing and creating new industries to employ people. If they are highly skilled then why are Americans training them. Immigration in large numbers didn't start until 1998 when the visa caps were raised into the millions. Immigration also ignores the effect of remittances sent home - the siphoning of America's capital which is the real cause of the economic crisis. If Indians cannot make India work, there is no reason to think they can make America work either as we are now seeing. The "cheap labor" model was invented by India, Inc and sold to USA.

uh no, those are h1b's you are refering to. they are the cheap labor. im the son of indian immigrants myself, and my parents were given green cards in the early 70's and paid a full fare wage - because of the skills they offered. thats the problem with h1b is being used as cheap labor, which is also a violation of the law. plus not all h1b's are imports. alot of them are foreign students who attain degrees in america, they also get first preference too. i say better to just give em green cards.

With 20 successful commercial software products, I am sure you must be milking on the royalty and have nothing to worry about retirement. Training an overseas employee is not easy. If you really are as good as you say, you should actually be on the side of outsourcing... why do the almost-repetitive work on your bill grade when you can have that same work done and overlooked at 20% the cost.

@markseenow look outsourcing is one thing, but this issue here has to do with h1b. they cant have it both ways. they cant ship jobs off and then bring them here on h1b's as cheap labor. either they take up the low wage jobs in india, or the other, not both. and im the son of indian immigrants saying this. though i never lived there i have visited the place many times, and they just want dollars to show off in front of their 3rd world relatives. saying 'look at me im rich i drive a fking honda'

I dont need to go to Silicon Valley to see that. I studied in Osmania, IIT-KGP, US university in Mid-west and worked for US companies like Sprint, ATT and ArthurAndersen in USA. I dont believe all IT heroes are from Silicon Valley. Under Jr. Bush's rule recklessness, carelessness was rampant in every sector not just NASA failures, it has nothing to do with Indians. The recession was affecting all sectors except IT where thousands are making happy lives and who are they? brokers? Opportunists??

Clinton increased the h1 visa cap but did not let L1 and other visas. ERP's, Web technologies made huge impact in the market so Clinton raised the H1 cap, there is nothing worng in that. But what Bush did was catastrophe, letting many working professionals in India, China and Gulf countries to mushroom in USA on L1 transfers etc, who neither had US education nor proper communication. Bush did this to counter many arabs leaving and transferring millions out of USA. That's economy not you..

US companies are improving their world dominance and they need money so they are diverting all their profits into Asian markets and showing losses on corporate earnings statements and downsliding stocks, which is nothing but using shareholders money. Its these companies and brokers making billions out of shareholders pockets. The actual developments are all outsourced. We people simply support and do minor enhancements to the existing packages. IT has little role in collpase of any US company.

AT&T is one company who hires many, many H1B Visa workers, when those jobs could be going to out-of-work AMERICANS. Since when do foreign guest workers get precendence over AMERICAN workers?! After CA, NJ is known to be the #1 haven for Indian faking grifters. They have taken over NJ just as CA.

They are all conmen - every last one. I lived and worked in Silicon Valley for 16 years until I was run out by Indian frauds. They have taken over Sun, Adobe, partly taken over MS, Apple is the only holdout and look how well Apple is doing.

They come here to get money and send it home. Some 28-year old Indians go home and retire at 36 on the $ they grift out of the U.S. econ.

it looks like only Indians get visas immigrate. I always thought it was strange why they come in such big number when nobody else can get visas.

It is all a big scam and most of the people cheat their way in. Same rules should apply to all people who try to get visas.

Taking a train from New Jersey to New York City is a good example where most of people on the train are Indian now. It is problematic because of the crowd, traffic and trying to make sense.
