I believe she took the pills to get relief from the nagging anxiety & self-doubt that plagued her. I think the night she died she was desperate for a full night of sleep. I think she accidentally overdosed herself. She had access to too many different kinds of sedatives She lost track of how many she had taken. This is my opinion of why she died that night. Don't you wish you could have been there to stop her from swallowing that last batch of pills? Heartbreaking. What might have been.
@SuperSynoptic Who the hell are you to tell me I "think wrong" ? Did you know Marilyn ? How would you know I'm wrong ? As for 'waters of my own well": go fuck yourself.
Haunting. Touching. I wonder if she realized even for one moment, how breathtakingly beautiful she was. 36 is still so young. I believe if she would have finished her last picture, " Something's Got to Give " , She would have cemented her place in the romantic comedy genre for another 10 years. Marilyn truly was a gifted actress with a natural talent. This last picture with Dean Martin would have been a huge hit. I do not believe she was an intentional suicide. She was depressed & had insomnia.
she was alegend and still is she was allways judged harshly as jut another silly actress trying to get big she was a natural at evreything she did she was a idol and still is to me and many others she wa s acurvy gawjes girl i think people should take note on how curvy she was and reliase thats gawjes
great work. it's like if the song was written for her. beautiful woman, but people didn't see beyond her beauty when she was alive. treated like a product without feelings. she died & the same people who said she had no talent started saying the opposite. rest in peace.

I sincerely understaind her... It's a pity that no one in her entourage was able to give her what her soul needed to heal. She was a tragic beauty, to good for the people around her. Immortal energy.
Norma Jeane (stage name Marilyn Monroe) was unique, in that she embodied the spirit of femininity better than any other starlet of her time or ever since. No one can copy her; she was an original, there will be no more Norma Jeanes. Which makes her premature death all the more tragic. RiP.
ah marilyn was so beautiful inside as well as out, it sad the fact that she was so emotionally fagile all shr wanted was to be loved. She was and always will be in a class of her own, her natural beauty is unparalleled. I remember in an interview she once sed that she loved the wind because it caressed her. She made me love my body. She's so beautiful and loved without being excessively skinny, model tall, or born to a wealthy/prestigious family. I watch her and i feel beautiful.
4:28 WHERE DID YOU GET THAT PIC? It's one of my Monroe favorites and I lost my only copy in a flood. Please let me know any information on that pic (who took it, what year, was it a publicity still or magazine shoot) I've always wanted to paint it.
Excellent montage of the most photographed woman of all time. Purely radiant in all still photography. A true Gemini in character and temperment. She accomplished her goal "to be wonderful". Rest in Peace Norma Jeane
@mmccaughey11 no one can be her, but Paris Hilton definitely has no chance of being the next Marilyn compared to a good actress that has talent and a good head set on her shoulders
@mmccaughey11 Paris Hilton the next Marylin Monroe? Don't make me laugh Monroe had class and elegance what has Hilton got? Sex tapes lol. Marylin possessed some sort of charm that us women dont have, quite sad really. I wish I had her charisma!
@mmccaughey11 Paris Hilton is the next or rather was the next "it girl" and is already sliding out of public consciousness .Marilyn however took herself seriously and decided to live as an artist and gave of herself . Her beauty and talent still cut through even in this age. Paris Hilton is a taker. Telling the world she is the next Marilyn is high praise indeed, but as we all know "self praise is no recommendation".
I can't believe they wrote '' Marilyn Monroe'' on her tombstone. It was Norma Jeane Mortenson who died, Marilyn Monroe is still alive, and will always be. As well as I think that every girl should look up to her. She was completly unique. She didn't care what people thought abot her, and she cared about earth and little children. Like female version of MJ.
I completely agree. Also, people should know that it was a woman that died, not a legend. They should have respected that Norma Jeane is dead, she is just human. It's unfair to bury her as her screen persona.
@FooZhizzleNizzle Marylin Monroe had awesome years but Norma Jeane went through a tough child hood with an insane mother, orphanage, sexual abuse and not knowing her father and when she called him and told him who she was he just hung up, i have a biography she wrote herself with other people its really cool.!

50 more years from now, people will still be in awe of marilyn monroe. 10 years from now, no one will even remember skanks like paris hilton and lindsey lohan. those 2 pigs need to be dipped in clorox.

hmmmmm..i dont think she still beatiful woman if she still life in this decade. much hollywood actris or model so beatiful than here..! example : paris hilton hot to but paris stupid girl, haha, and etc..hollywood girl !
paris hilton is very ugly with that ugly nose...and her face is of a stupid girl...woman...marilyn was the most beautiful woman in this world...nobody can be compared with her....I think only Britney looks a little like her...her nose and face..just a little bit
THat was a great collection of pix. I often wonder how marilyn would have looked if shed have lived into her 40s and 50s would she have adapted the big hair/heavy eye makeup look of late 60s early 70s? I wonder if jfk ever discussed the NWO with Marilyn? ive heard that she had arranged a press confrence in the same time she died just before*???!!!
This song reminds me of Marilyn too, great photos:)

The only picture I have EVER seen
and realized her true person was a picture
of Norma Jean in a turlte neck sweater that
cuddled her neck. She had no make up.
It was her authentic self. I'll never forget it.
I said... Thank God someone saw who she
really is..(in the moment of that pic) and now I know
who she really was. I envy my friend. She has the
most beautiful... natural print of Norma Jean.

50 more years from now, people will still be in awe of marilyn monroe. 10 years from now, no one will even remember skanks like paris hilton and lindsey lohan. those 2 pigs need to be dipped in clorox.

Beautiful compilation does anyone else agree with me that images of Marilyn NEVER look dated like other images from the 50s.
Marilyn looks timeless her look would go today.

...just like Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn. Their grace will never go out of style.

Nothing against Liz, Audrey, Sophia, or anyone else, but Marilyn is quite simply the greatest female photo subject of all time IMHO.

Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were probably two of the most beautiful people to have graced us with their presence.
