  • dont forget richard street is also out there...and damon harris...one of the best sound alike to eddie kendrick

  • Otis has to keep the Temps together because was not, is not, and will never be the lead singer and without a "Temps" group, Otis would not have had, nor would have a career today. Dennis, on the other hand, is a lead singer and will be around long after Otis ends the Temps and then there is no Temptations group to sing the songs. Dennis Edwards is THE MAN. RIP David Paul Eddie and Melvin.

  • PegCityFM--

You might want to write back to this DJ Mixza and let him know that the Temptations tried a reunion tour back in the early 1980s, but it failed miserably, primarily because of David Ruffin's stupidity and drug use, as well as Otis trying to wrap his mind around his son Lamont's death in a construction site accident. Another thing you might tell him is that for the most part, Dennis and Otis did reconcile their differences shortly before the group's induction into the Hall of Fame.

  • It would be nice to see Dennis Edwards,Damon Harris,Richard Street,Otis Williams and a selected bass singer (maybe the one they have now) get together, but THAT'S not going to happen, because I think Otis's head is too big. But ,I must also admit,I do think that Dennis Edwards Temptation Reveiw is much better than the current Temptation line-up. At least we see the same line up all of the time with the exception of Ali Ollie Woodson, and that was a great line up too..

  • What a gift for the ages that would be. Been thinking, hoping it for a long time.NYYWC

  • '''''¨¨¨¨¨¨´´´´´?+

  • @PegCityFM Igonre these rednecks/hily billys, whatever.

  • Now, it's 2009, Paul Williams had sickle cell anemia, serious stuff. He was outstanding.

Everyone was outstanding, even new Temps. They brought much love & happiness into my life.

Get a grip people, the Temps whoever is in the group is outstanding, love them, let them love us.

  • @074August its 2010

  • Dennis originally replaced Paul while Paul was in alcohol rehab. Then when David was kicked out and Paul returned, before he shot himself, Dennis moved over to the main lead. & that is just the simple stuff...can't keep track without a score card the way players switched in and out...I believe there have been 22 Temps to date. Otis kept it all together throughout the storms though.

  • dennis didn't replace paul, richard street did. dennis joined the group in 1968 after david was fired

  • Keeping track of who replaced who requires a spread sheet. Each Temp has his own version of their history. Yes, Richard did replace Paul, contrary to what I said before. Richard was a Distant too. That most of the various replacement Temps came from groups the original Temps came from and other Motown groups adds to the confusion. Then the way Berry Gordy grabbed who ever was around in the hall to do backgrounds, play tambourine or do handclaps comes into the mix.

  • My mistake Dennis did join in 68....

  • Comment removed

  • Dennis Edwards joined the Temps in 72...Dennis try and claim that the name Temptations was his and that's why there were two groups with the same same until Dennis was ordered by a judge to Not use the name Temptations without the word Revue in it ...the name is rightly Otis's and I would be very upset if someone else was claiming what's mine too...Dennis had no right and was way out of pocket for that one.

  • I ma so sorry Dennis joined the group in 1968 replacing David Ruffin.

  • Ur Fat

  • Baby it's you; we know the beef, but it's about music. Dennis took the place of a man who was great, and he was greater. Dennis Edwards is one of the best, I've heard him, I love him I am a "tempt" from day one, "My Girl,' the best of the Tempts are , the originals which they know who they are; all the other UNNECESSARY rethoric, don't mean shit.

    "TEMPTATIONS FOR EVER."

    LUV PATTYCAKE

  • Who gives a rat's ass if they reunite? Paul, Eddie, David, and Melvin are all dead. It's basically going to be a "tribute" group no matter how you form it since Otis barely sang anything and Dennis isn't an original member. Everyone else who joined was pretty much hired to imitate someone else who left.

Sky's the Limit is the last Temptations album as far as I'm concerned.

  • kinda funny! YOU have a good voice.

  • You're basing your facts on the movie-which is pure fiction. Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards toured from 1989-1991 as "Ruffin/Kendricks/Edwards-Former Leads Of The Temptations".

  • DJ Mixda or whatever your real name is-

First of all, there are not, nor have their ever been two groups of Temptations. Otis Williams, the only surviving original member, has the legal rights to name and has kept the group going for forty-seven years now. Dennis Edwards leads a tribute group called, The Temptations Review.

  • actually during the temptations time they did have a time where there were 2 diffrent groups but mowtown got them to reunite fully instead of a 2 group and the whole 2 group didnt last long cbc51 so there have been two groups

  • man I thought I was going to see the real tempts. If you not going to sing, don't talk the whole time. Yeah you right though. The Dennis Edwards group treated me very bad after taking a chance of going to one of their concerts after I had a bad accident. when it came time for audographs the group was ill. This time I am only going to see Otis. I like his style better. My favorite song is "My Girl". yeah that was a good year when that came out. Love for life

  • What's the name and who sings the song at 2:38 when he talks about changes at his staff. Thanks. TEMPTS FOREVER

  • Willie Hutch - I Choose you.

    Enjoy

  • Thank you very much!!

  • If only you played the BETTER version of "Smiling Faces Sometimes" in the beginning.

  • he right one temptations it should be you got dennis with revue, richard street with his, glenn got a group..it too much confusion!!!!

  • You know, I love Dennis Edwards with all my heart, however, the truth was and is, no matter how many times people try to deny it, is that Otis Williams' group is the REAL Temptations, and Dennis' group is just a TRIBUTE group. Personally, I think Dennis and Otis should "bury the hatchet" but no, I don't think they should re-unite, because Ron, Bruce, Terry and Joe have legitimately earned their right to be Temptations just like Dennis did, and they should not be forced out for Dennis' sake.

  • The real lineup which is acceptable as "The Temptations" was the beginning and first period with David Ruffin and from 68 with Dennis Edwards. Later there have been too many changes-as result no really hit on the charts followed...

It does'nt mean that I dislike the Temps in their current lineup-but the level of the voices and that kind of singing was never reached again which was so significant for the Temps in the past. May all of them who left us with a big gap r.i.p. Eddie is missed most...

  • David Ruffin was not an original Temp! He replaced Elbridge Bryant. David was a part of the "Classic 5" era of the Temps that are remembered for the original hits of the group. Dennis Edwards may have replaced David, but he (along with writers Norman Whitfield/Barret Strong) ushered in the "psychedelic soul" era of the Temps. David was with the Temps 4 years. Dennis was with the Temps 20 years(give or take the 3 times he left/was fired.) "Cloud 9"- First Grammy for The Temps AND Motown.

  • the tempts are a fifty year legacy, all the singer are great stop with king david, hell they had a 2 million seller Stay with theo peoples singing lead,30 years after david was fired! no one is bigger than the group.

  • As Smokey says "I second the emotion"

  • I've been a temptations fanatic since i came out of my mothers womb and I think that Dennis and Otis should get it together if not for the duration at least for now and the sake of the legion of fan that they both have and also include Ali Woodson> Please get together I Truely beg you both.

  • your right they should squash the beef and they should get together with david ruffin jr. and paul williams jr.

  • And to continue that comment, Dennis is an example of the first group. He left the group, and while the group was still performing and touring and recording, he started his own group with different members. it would be nice if there was a reunion though, especially because the Temps 50th anniversary is coming up. But to reiterate, Bruce, Joe, Terry, Ron, and Otis are the only legitimate temptations existing right that can say they are part of the group.

  • think about it this way folks. If all of the beatles broke up, and then 5 years later paul got together with 3 other guys and started calling himself the beatles, that would not really be the beatles. However, if george harrison left the group, and the other three stayed, and took on a new member that would still be the beatles. Even if this happened many times, it would still be the beatles. This is what happened with the tempts, and they are still the tempts.

  • CAN YOU SAY TRIBUTE BAND!

The Temptations of today represent a new era while stayin true to the "NEW SCHOOL".

The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards is the only legitimate TRIBUTE BAND that represents the "OLD SCHOOL" with the classic and psychedelic sound while giving an honorable mention to those classic members; David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams who are no longer with us.

We are in support of both groups and we urge all Temps fans to do the same.

  • The Temptations are no more. The Temptations were David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams and Otis Williams. Period! The moment that grouping was no longer -- the Temptations were no more. Dennis Edwards, because of his talent, is the only legitimate heir to the Tempts.

Funny that you chose a David Ruffin lead to represent the Temptations. Why not Dennis? Or Otis,if you find one by him that is presentable. Dennis has lots of great material to showcase his talent!

  • "Don't send me away" by the temps; with Otis as lead is presentable. Oh, yes. The Tempatations are for ever.

  • ok....im from detroit mi MOTOWN!!! OK.....& DAMMIT..I REALLY DON'T LIKE DENNIS....PEOPLE NOT FROM DETROIT DON'T UNDERSTAND & REALLY NEED 2 STOP WITH THIS THINKING DENNIS IS ORGINAL HE GOT PUT IN WHEN DAVID GOT KICKED OUT...CAN U SAY REPLACEMENT...SAY IT WITH ME.....REPLACEMENT!! OTIS NEEDZ 2 TELL DENNIS 2 STOP!!!

  • Look at it another way, Eddie always considered himself and Paul to be the founding members of the Temptations and Eddie`s re-union group of the late 80`s included David & Dennis.Dennis`s group is an extension of that.I would class Dennis`s current group with Ali as The true Temps as they are 2 of the voices on a lot of their hits.

  • Otis Williams is The Temptations ktf dave d

  • Very cool.

  • Yeah im gonna do a follow up video explain what i ment more

  • I agree with you but the four other original temps are deceased and Otis williams is one of the founding members so Dennis Edwards should be the one to stop with the fake temps they had a reunion tour before. And they should reunite for the music.

  • True. When the group left Motown in 1977, Dennis left and was replaced by Louis Price. In 1980, Dennis returned, but was put out due to his drinking, showing up to rehearsals and recording late. In 1987, he returned for one year, and left for good. Otis has never said anything bad about any of the members who left and were forced to leave. His thing was show up on time, perform and make money.
