  • the moment i heard the song i laughed my ass off.

  • when I saw the movie in theaters I said to my friends after 20minutes that "this is fucking pocahontas in 3d" and I knew the whole story+ ending and had to suffer for the rest of the movie. Never saw it again and fuck cameron lol

  • hey no that I think about it, there are more similarities than I thought.

  • Pocahontas is NOT the Disney rendition. It is just a story, and both Disney's Pocahontas, and Avatar are similar to the real story of Pocahontas. But I will admit, I did enjoy Avatar more.

  • he he he It's the same movie

  • Pandora is soo Beutifulll!! It's so pure, peacefull and violent at the same time. Full of life combined 'In the circle of Life'. Hope Earth will regain these atributes.

  • sarà anche un bel film, ma hanno spudoratamente copiato da Pocahontas e Aida degli alberi -.-

  • @sillychad18 South Park(:

  • The story line between Avatar and Pocahontas is similar however Avatar was told visually better.

  • i always thought avatar was just pocahontas in space (even though it's not a bad movie) but i never really thought about how well this song fits the movie lol. it's perfect. good job man

  • Who DIDN'T notice this? Its the first thing that came to my mind in the theatre...

  • more like Pocahontas+ Ferngulley.

  • true movie makers have to use similar plots, but this is paaaaaainfully similar, watch pocahontas then watch this is identical, thats why i couldnt enjoy avatar the whole time i was like " its copying my favorite childhood movie!"

  • Cameron only wanted to make a technological movie; plot came second; you of all people should understand that, Peter

  • @bbphnix dude whatever. compare Michael Bay who prides his movies on visuals and James Cameron who is famous for plot.......which one am I going to take seriously......hmmmmmm JAMES CAMERON.

  • @insider94 yeah but not this one; Avatar was for visuals; not action visuals like Bay, but just... well, you saw the movie, you know what kind of visuals it had

  • So what if its a SIMILAR plot? At least James Camreon SAID that its been done before. He just put his own spin on it. By the reasoning of "Its been done before" you would have to say the same thing about "Dances With Wolves" and say its a terribly unoriginal story.

  • I hate this movie so much, because it's about nothing. The plot is so stupid that I think the script writer was on drugs.

  • While the films have a similer story , Avatar has a very diftent time line , it takes place in earths future , when you set a film in the past people see it as "history" and tend to think its examples "No longer Apply to todays sociaty" by setting a film in the future you change that asumption to a warning of posable future events though the film is fiction its "examples" are very real world global issues.

  • @123allrock you are full of b-shit.

  • @tallb while I wont be involved in a flame war I would sugest you ask "david suzuki" about Avatars

"symbolic" real world conections , look up (the nature of things "The real avatar")

  • I love the movie Avatar there is nothing wrong with it!

  • The Nostalgia Critic hates this movie because it's nothing new. One has to wonder what would the two sequels be. Will they also copy other stories.

  • is it weird t osay i thought of Avatar before it came out. that also meant I was camerons age when i thought of it...

  • Avatar= Pocahontas + Atlantis + Cool visuals.

  • @nastyplot555 Avatar= gay hippie bullcrap

  • @nastyplot555

    Avatar = Pocahontas

    Atlantis = Stargate (the movie)

  • what?

  • I;d say it wouldnt have been such a big deal if that jackass didnt keep bringing up the whole ive been working on this for ten years its an original idea thing... i mean if it took him 10 years to rip off someones idea... well then

  • When I saw Avatar, I was like " I love this movie! But something seems familiar." Then it became obvious.

  • copyright fail

  • Scifi-version of Pocahontas.

  • haha I thought the same thing when I watched it!

  • LOL Pocahontas....I guess it is DUNE!

    DUNE! DUNE!

    DUNE! DUNE!

    DUNE! DUNE!

    DUNE! DUNE!

And the reason is that stories like StarWars, Pocahontas and Dances with Wolves are basically stolen ideas from Frank Herbert.

  • @VannevarBush Remember also, Herbert and Ransom wrote a book called The Jesus Incident featuring a planet called Pandora that had a creature called Avata.

  • It's more like Atlantis:The Lost Empire.........it's exactly like Avatar.............I MEAN EXACTLY LIKE

    AVATAR.....................EXACTLY.........EXXXXXXXAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCTTTTLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @FishSlapsaBaby FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME!!!!

  • omg this song is annoying!! lol! and avatar is so fern gully.

  • avatar was exactly like ferngully way to rip off the 80's toons Cameron

  • I still wish Col. Gargamel had succeeding in eating his smurfs.

  • Pocahontas can get away with having similar stories because she was real life. But James Cameron went for the whole Dances with Wolves story!

  • @DarkPhoenix8101987

yeah well JC is just a pissed off hippy. he should be exiled for treason.

  • Pocahontas is better.

  • @pikkuadi Agreed!

  • they may be similar but the big difference was that avatar was a great movie. Pochoshitis was a piece of shit

  • Pocahontas = Dancing with the wolves

  • avatar is like pocahontas. Pocahontas is like west side story. so IDK........

  • Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Avatar, but.... You've heard this movie been called "Dances with Smurfs", and "Pocahontas goes to Fern Gully" before, right? Well, the funniest spoof-title for AVATAR has got to be this: "Pocahontas Dances with Smurf Gully". XD LOL Come on!!!! Epic, right?!?! High Five, anyone?? ........anyone?

  • @suicunesrider

I prefer to call it "Pocahontar" or "Avahontas"... I think the former is the better one. "Pocahontar"!

  • OMG I HATE that.... everyone's like "The special effects were awesome, but the story line sucked". That's a load of BS! Avatar's story line was beautiful! It was predictable, yes, but so.... PERFECT, at the same time! And Avatar has, like, the BEST messages you can get out of any movie, or story... 1: stop destroying nature (and the rain-forests) 2: respect other people, even though they are different from you. 3: Humans, stop thinking that you can just take whatever you want!

  • @suicunesrider

yeah but seriously, those themes and the plot were all ripped 100% from Pocahontas....

"Savages, savages, they're bearly even human!"

  • @colliric And the movie Pocahontas ripped it off from the movie "Dances with the wolves".

Who cares where the movie was ripped from. Avatar was still a very enjoyable film to the majority as well as Critics.

  • @MTERM775

it's a little thing called selling out....

it's dishonest... At least disney had the guts to admit much much latet that Lion King ripped off the plot from Hamlet and tried to pass it off as an original creation. Now it's formally considered an adaptation of the play even by Disney themselves.

Let's hope Cameron does the same to Disney themselves one day.

  • @MTERM775 Pocahontas is real life dances with wolve, but I see your point everything has been done before. It's hard to be original lol

  • @suicunesrider replying to an old posts never really a good idea, but i'd have to disagree with "2: respect other people, even though they are different from you." while respect is good, it need to be earned not just given other then that i kind of agree, but if JC didnt brag about how original his idea was, about how it took him 10 years to make it ect people wouldnt bag on it so much its a two way street he brought it on him self in a way

  • THANK YOU i thought i was the only one who noticed that, everyone is just talking about how stunning the movie looks and doesnt seem to notice that the story is straight up stolen from pocahontas

  • I lol'd

  • Even though the story is similar to pocahontas, I can tell you that pocahontas never made me go so Pro-environmental like avatar did. cameron is by far the best one to capture the storyline.

  • Most overrated film EVER!

  • @buoghuoj becouse it was a novel sensorial experience whit all that colors on 3d, but isn't a new story, is much more like an universal plot. the explorer, the locals... conflict, love... as we say in Chile : "es mas de lo mismo" (is more of the same)

  • @SpiritLine Yes but naturally people associate that with Pocahontas. In popular culture the most well known movie with that precise plot happens to be Pocahontas.

  • I like this song with this movie, it fits very well. And both are favorites of mine :D

  • Avatar = Pocahontas furry version

  • I saw this movie, i was sure that it was Pocahontas-Blue edition in real life! Dude, was it Avatar?!?!

  • Avatar script : Written in 1994

    Pocahontas release : Late 1995.

    Also,

Do you really think Cameron has the "need" to steal a disney animation's script?

This anti-imperialism scenario was not introduced by Pocahontas for fuck sake, it is a result of REAL, HISTORIC events of colonization, and many movies are based on it.

It is also very relevant to the current US foreign policy.

  • @WhereTheyAre For your information Disney's Pocahontas is based on a true story. So it is a known story for a long time.. She lived in the 16th and 17th century. Secondly the script of Avatar has been rewritten in the past years. I'm not saying Avatar copied this story about Pocahontas, I'm just stating the facts.

Besides I think Avatar is a great movie and I really love it. It actually is one of my favourite movies. I love Pocahontas too, It's one of my favourite Disney movies. I love Disney

  • @WhereTheyAre

    "Pocahontas release: Late 1995"

Meaning the scrip was written years before that...maybe 1992/1993

  • who fuckin cares if it's the same story?

    it's just a great movie.

  • the whole two stories draw back to another true story... defined in one line : THIS IS SPARTAAAAA !!!!!! :))))))

  • lol the BEST part of this vid is when the song said they were all connected and in avatar they LITERALLY were and about cutting down trees like they did

  • holy fucking shit. your completely correct. its EXACTLY the same except avatar had naked chicks and explosions. and a shittier story.

  • i loved this movie, but thats because i just forgot about everything and enjoyed this movie.

because thats the point of a movie.

    forget everything and enjoy.

even if it a rip off of pocahontas, is it too hard to consider it a live action remake in a different planet?

  • Best Pocahontas movie ever

  • I was like I 'm the first to know that Avatar is like Pocahontas when I watched it. It's a great movie I love it a lot I just gotta say, cause it's quite unique unlike the usual boring action movies we have so I like this one...

  • Ha! Laughed my ass off while watching this, then had another good chuckle after reading a few comments. It never fails to amuse me how serious people online can be about someone having a little fun. People act as though this is some sort of attack, when it seems to be a joke. O_o If you don't find it amusing, click on another link and never think of it again. Is there a point to ranting?

Opinions are like assholes; everyone has one, and everyone else's smells. Lighten up, you'll live longer.

  • "...and we are ALL connected to each other..."

the better difference between P and A.

    avatar is discriminating propaganda.

  • the climax/outcome of pocahantas is better and more positive than avatar.

  • Avator Is More Like Fern Gilly In Space Than Pocahontas

  • Lol people argueing over Avatar :P

  • I'm so glad they will be reshowing Avatar in 3D theaters in August. Watching it in 2D is already mind blowing, watching a movie MADE for 3D is an experience.

  • Native American - t,e, American + ' =Na'vi James Cameron couldn't think of an original name

  • It's also very much like Dune, Laurence of Arabia, Dances with Wolves and The last samurai. Pocahontas was also a lot like all those books/movies when it was released. Wouldn't that make Pocahontas just as bad?

  • wow beautiful....

  • Ok so Avatar is basically Pocahontas in space and with an awesome 3D rendered environment.

So what? They are both very good movies.

  • @AlexGoldhill Thank you, AlexGoldhill! Finally, someone here has a decent brain... lol

  • You just made AVATAR 9000 times more epic.

I mean, AVATAR is an okay movie, I give it to them that it's incredibly pretty, but it's way too long and boring for me to ever rewatch. Pocahontas also managed to grab the moral better, too.

  • americans............

  • I loved this movie, and yes i looks like pocahontas and hum SO WHAT! i would watch this movie on mute and still love it

  • Avatar is pretty similar to Pocahontas, but I don't think it's a copy of the film. You know, pretty much any story has already been invented, the important thing is how the story is told.

  • heres the truth about pocohauntus and why people shouldnt rip off the disney movie.

    1. pocohauntus was 12

    2. john smith was a short brown haired asshole who didnt save anyone.

    3. pocohauntus didnt marry smith and she died of yellow fever before 30.

    4. the whole tribe was wiped out

    5. the British wanted freedom of england, not gold, it was the last item on the list.

    6. The indians were brutal to the settlers at jamestown, half the time they attacked with out being provoked.

    7. pocohauntus sucks..

  • @jegsimmonsproduction you are so right

  • AVATAR an Pocahontas have similar plots. In Pocahontas a bunch of explorers try to take over the new land. One of them only wants to help the natives, and falls in love with a native woman. In AVATAR, an army is trying to destroy Pandora's natives, and they use Jake as a spy. He falls in love with a Pandora's native woman. In Pocahontas, there's the Great Spirit, and in AVATAR, there's the great goddes of everything.

  • its a lot like pocahontas except it has a load more fighting and meelee in it

  • This explains why I liked AVATAR that much =)

  • The first thing i said when i saw the first actual avatar bit was that it was just pocahantas with blue people aha

  • WTF??? Pocahontas isn't an Avatar, is she???

  • perfect song for a great movie!! thanks for posting this vid

  • this movie is amaziing, i loved it as much as i love pocahuntas :D And i REALLY love pocahuantus

  • The original script to avatar was writen before pocahontas came out..

  • @WozzWoz Do you see the flame war im in? Milky licker is going to flame everyone who says that

  • Nightcrawler should sue

  • @goonie50 - Nightcrawler! LOL! Yes, I knew these blue fuckers looked familiar. Stan Lee should sue James Cameron's fucking balls off.

  • more like FERNGULLLYYYYY

  • That's exactelly what I thought when I saw the film: it's Pocahontas but with blue people.

  • avatar = OVERRATED

  • @EPION1989 true as that is I still love it.

  • @EPION1989 anything that seems to be a hit and talked about is "overrated". Apparently James Cameron did an exceptional job. If you created this movie i bet you wouldn't of thought it was "overrated".

  • @EPION1989 YOUR mom is overrated

  • @EPION1989 everything that is popular has someone like you thinking it is over rated.

  • HEY EVERYONE AVATAR SCRIPT WRITTEN IN 1994. Pocahontas RELEASED IN 1995

  • @samn100 you forgot that pocahontas is based on a REAL story which was "written" ages ago. sorry.

  • @samn100 the story of Pocahontas has been around since 1607

  • @Brawn I know. I meant the movies

  • @samn100 Ferngully was RELEASED in 1992.

  • @samn100 - Don't be a moron. The story of Pocahontas is really old...much older than it's total rip-off, Avatar.

  • @MilkyLicker3587 Hey moron im talking about the movies not the original tale

  • @samn100 - That's because you didn't even know there WAS an original tale, you dumbass. LOL!

  • @MilkyLicker3587 *facepalm* MORON PLEASE IM TALKING ABOUT A MOVIE. GO READ YOUR BOOK.

  • @samn100 - LOL! You're so fucking dumb. That's why a movie like Avatar appeals to you.

Why the fuck would you bring up a discussion of a little kids tale when THIS FUCKIN VIDEO is about the movie you dumbass. You will give everyone facepalms for your stupidity. UR GIVING ME A EPIC EPIC EPIC FACEPALM BECAUSE YOU ARE SO FUCKING STUPID WHEN YOU CALL OTHER PEOPLE STUPID. FACEPAMS FOR YOU DUMBASS.

  • @samn100 - BWAHAHA! I fucked you up so bad. Look at you! I got you riled up, Jack! I got your RILED up! Hahaha! Fuckin' dumbass thought that Cameron wrote his script before Pocahontas was written. Yeah sure! He was only a few hundred years late on that one. LOL! Oh, here's the clincher. I bet you didn't know that the first Pocahontas MOVIE came out in 1924! What do you have to say to that one, dipshit?! LOLOLOLOL!

  • @MilkyLicker3587 I dont know which is thicker, your comments or your skull. IM TALKING ABOUT THE 2 FUCKING MOVIES POCAHONTAS 1995 AND AVATAR 2009 YOU GET THE FUCKING MESSAGE YET DUMSHIT? ITS BEEN 3 COMMENTS U UNDERSTAND YET? IM TALKING ABOUT POCAHONTAS 1995 AND AVATAR 2009 NEED I REPEAT IT ONE MORE TIME FOR A GUY THAT CANT READ?

  • @samn100 - Yeah, ok buddy. Hahaha! Look at you now. Backpeddling like a sonofabitch. Can't even acknowledge that you've fucked yourself up sooooo badly. This is really goddamn hilarious! LOL!!!!

  • @MilkyLicker3587 Oh god.....no point in arguing with someone that doesnt understand shit

  • @samn100 - LOL! Yeah, that MUST be it. See ya around, you fuckin' loser. Go jerk off with your James Cameron 3d glasses on to a poster of some blue slut.

  • @MilkyLicker3587 Troll needs <3. Must not flame any where. I will give you a gift of penguins to calm you down

  • @emoguy38 - LOL! Of course you are. Two screennames, same stupid bitch using them. LOLOLOL!

  • @emoguy38 This troll is funny. lets feed him

  • @samn100 Okay what's with the facepalm business?

  • @skeezerzz ehhh its old. The guy milkylicker3587 thinks i was talking about the original Pocahontas tale being made in 1995 but really i was talking about the movie so then we get into this whole argument where he doesn't accept the fact that I was talking about the Pocahontas movie and eventually started to epically troll. I was facepalming the whole time for all the things he didnt get.

  • @MilkyLicker3587 It was a good movie. Pochahantas was good and avatar is equally as good.

  • @Mythicasura - Avatar is little more than overrate, ultra-liberal, cliche, racist garbage. That's being generous.

  • Of course anyone can see there are a lot of similarities in the two movies.. and with a ton of movies, but is there such a bad thing abuot retelling stories?

There are so many movies that are pretty much the same stories.. it seems like a completely new story is really hard now a days.

Plus, is there anything wrong with Avatar? No, I don't think so. It brings back the attention, with amazing effects and great characters and a new world, to a pretty great issue.

  • @katiedid1023 THANK YOU!!! i hate people calling this pocahontas with smurfs! it seems that any blockbuster will get bashed for the smallest things(indy 4 for example)!!!

  • @katiedid1023 Dude, the thing about filmmaking, and music, and art in general, is that it forces artists to move forward, to invent/create new forms of expression, so, if you tell the same story, sing the same kinda song, or whatever, if you do what you are use to, what feels safe, than, you're just bein' lazy, you're not triying harder, and, most important, you're doin' something the world does not really need, and that's the most terrible thing. If it's done already, don't do it again

  • @Luisitox5 yeah but re-telling a story in a way no one has ever seen before? thats a bit different than what you're describing. just saying. the basic story was age-old but the technicals and the visuals were brand new, even revolutionary. the 3D this movie served up has changed cinema (and probably television and video gaming), you can't argue against that. whether you like or care for the change or not isn't relevant.

  • @spColossus89 "whether you like or care for the change or not isn't relevant." What? So, baiscally, if you do have an opinion, you need to shove it 'cause of the importance of technological advance. No man, this is what it is, it's a story that lacks originality, fresh air, and it's told in a very classic way, like James Cameron is use to tell stories. But in a technological way, it's revolutionary, adds important elements to th movie industry. And that's it's merit. Nothing else

  • @Luisitox5 I don't think retelling a story is lazy. Sure, it is safe maybe, but creating a whole new world and everything Cameron and the crew and artists had to do for Avatar is not lazy at all. Sure, I think you mean in terms of thinking of a new story, but Cameron revamped Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves and any movie like that, and he did it damn well. And he didn't just tell a story, but sent an environmental and social message to movie-goers. What he created is worth re-telling a story.

  • @katiedid1023 Yeah, you're right, I should have chosen "safe" instead of "lazy". And about the message, yeah, it's true, but nevertheless

  • @katiedid1023 BUT THEY DIDN'T BRING BACK AN ISSUE. If the na'vi all were killed and jake was like "oh shit we suck" then that would be a message. But it had a happy ending. So really there wasn't a message about how we treated the native americans. Because THEY WERE SLAUGHTERED, AND THEIR LAND WAS TAKEN. Also the way the portray the military is pretty stereotypical and offensive.

  • @katiedid1023 i agree, but i just dont think people should give all of credit to cameron,i mean, i hear people say: cameron´s imagination this.. cameron´s originality that... hope u undestand

  • @euoscar I understand completely, it wasn't straight from Cameron's mind (like Nolan's Inception.. nothing has been done like that, unlike Avatar), but it was brillant, I think. It was beautiful and epic and lovely and for that, he can get credit. The characters are really great, the details and the genius behind the effects and all. And, based on all the "it's just like Pocahontas!" stuff, Cameron isn't getting all the credit. You know?

  • YES! Avatar was the exact same thing as pocahauntus, which i why i DIDNT like it. They took absouletly no liberties with the plot. and the characters were too one sided. so it didnt make me think. it was a movie with great potential.. ugh

  • avatar was pocahantas, the movie did not deserve all the credit it got it was NOT orignal sure the effects and 3d were amazing but the story line was so cliche and just taken from pocahantas well thats my opinion anyway its STILL A GOOD movie but did not deserve all the hype and credit

  • @bishanator1 it deserved all the credit and more. it was a verry good movie

  • i can agree that Avatar looks alot like Pocahontas but who cares?? Avatar is one of the best movies ever made. ( my opinion ) And the concept, a stranger meet a stranger and then fall in love was James Cameron idea. He had the Avatar move don in 1990 but the technology had not come jet, but thats no my point, the point is Avatar is a great movie with a perfect story. A movie cant raise over 2 bilion dollars if it sucks.
