It,s just been to our workshop for a bonnet modification,I worked on the cars at the factory and it keeps coming back like an old friend.I'll never own it but I helped build it and when I see the movie I can always say I was part of that.they are knocking down the paint and body section of T.V.R.where I used to work which is right behind our work shop so it really is the final nail.our workshop used to be the racing team building so at least there is some of it left.

Was really impressed how good the car is known, during the BNG last summer, and indeed... Very sad to see such a piece of automotive history going down :(

But rest assured, W998 AFR will keep on doing his duties of representing the brand all over Europe.

Wasn't W998 AFR the factory press car in the early 90's ?

Apparently it had a few 'tweaks' to impress the journalists - it was an odd 'burnt orange' colour then, not this chameleon multi-coloured affair.

@M4OON Yes, W998 AFR was press car, though as far as I know it's always been the same colour. Certainly was when I drove it when working on a feature for long defunct Speed & Style magazine in 2000. Don't know about the tweaks, but I do know it was impressive. Amazing acceleration, amazing noise, amazing interior. Great days for TVR. Shame it went down the pan.

@t45tube Indeed, TVR's press car and it's always been Chameleon Blue, and it was built in 2000.

Tweaks at the time were a "Red Rose" conversion. Basically a +20hp tweak bringing it up to 380bhp, AP 4 pot calipers, better suspension and HID main lights.

I love how it just drowns EVERYTHING out as it drives along normally and how you can still hear it over 911s that are right next to you when it's halfway around the track.

The engine is a reworked, "finger follower free" Speed Six, supercharged, exhaust is a custom made German system designed for this engine specifically.

At Maarten Memorial it had straight through pipes, no silencing at all. Currently there are custom silencers on there.

Not related to your video but looking at your yellows licenses plates remind me that I was in your country this week end, (Amsterdam exactly). We parked my car for 1 hour in the street and when we came back, my door lock was brocken and someone stole my bag with all my clothes and my GPS in it.

Sorry for saying this in comment of your video, but I feel better talking about this.

@sharkriup I had the same thing not far from Amsterdam.. I had left my bag on the back seat, when I came back they had kicked in the window and took my bag... I only had some swimming clothes and some food in it, and I found it 100 meter from the car.. So todays lesson: never let your stuff in your car where anybody else can see it ;)

Interesting to note that in the film 'Swordfish' the TVR was still wearing its UK number plates. These cars were banned in the US for failing to meet emissions targets and some safety aspects that TVR couldn't or wouldn't meet. Shame really as the TVR was a proper balls-out hairy chested brute of a car. RIP TVR....
