Jack o lanterns shine for 10 blocks and can last underwater

confirmed for better than torches

@gamemaster761 I like how Notch added the underwater ability. It'll be so much easier to make underwater bases now that I can have sufficient lighting.

They spawn in Pre-Update Worlds as well, It took me 30 minutes of wandering away from my base to find a group. They can be anywhere you can find mushrooms or flowers. I've found 2 spots, one had 4, the other had 10. So it varies. Just jump on some mountain tops and scan the horizon for orange.

@GateKeeper456 Minecraft should update automatically if you log in with an account that is payed for.

@GateKeeper456 sometimes they are where you spawm, sometimes you will stumble across a patch on your journey.

@GateKeeper456 The update wont bring pumpkins or biomes to your old world, as this would change your safe. The Nether is a diffrent story, as it's another map connected to yours. Pumpkins pretty rare, so you need to explore quite a bit if you want to find one.

Go make a new world and look around.

@desponge11 No they spawn on new generated blocks, so just go where you have never been before, and it will be there.

@072623515 The wiki notes that there is no spawn algorithim for them. That they are essentially found randomly.
