So if they pass this resolution, does that mean I can no longer defend Islam? I'm not an expert on Islam, so I'd be nervous about being arrested for defending it in a way that isn't approved by Muslims.
So if this resolution passes, I'll never be able to mention Islam again -- no longer defend it, and no longer even speak to Islamic people.

We don't need to remove people's disrespectful words from society. Instead, we just need to add more respectful words into the mix. That way, speech creates contrast and people see strong examples of who they don't wish to be and who they do wish to be.

Restricting people's freedom to speak of religion is the same as restricting that religion. Censoring speech about Islam dishonors Islam. Religions must be free, for they belong to God. That means we must be free to talk about them in our own unique ways.
If someone doesn't like what is said about their religion, they have the freedom to speak up, defend that religion verbally, and educate people.

@Brdstfff So, anyway, that's always been my question. How is it that the civilized people grant rights to the uncivilized? Is it proper to grant a criminal, let's say, the same rights knowing they are likely to do it again? IOW, doesn't history matter? And doesn't the small actions and words paint their intentions quite clearly? Christians proselytize. Muslims do too. But at least Christians aren't doing crusades anymore. :)

As much as my trust has been lately shaken in the American people and principles, I can't see Americans standing still for this curtailment of free speech. Fortunately or unfortunately, freedom of speech gives one the right to be a total jerk. You don't legislate people's thoughts. I don't recognize the authority of the UN, much as I admire some of their work, to limit my rights. Period. Besides: bigotry just goes underground and festers.

This is the kind of thing to expect from non democratic countries, that have jihad as a possibility in their religion. 57 countries and their idiocy should not be able to limit the rights of the TRULY FREE.

Freedom of speech v Sensitivity. if you put freedom of speech which links to freedom of expression, limits upon these two ideals means there arent freedoms of speech or expression. some people need to learn that everyone has their own opinion and need to live with that fact. if not, you are leading towards a dangerous direction.
