Scavenger Hunt sounds like fun, but I ain't got the balls to do: 1, 5, 7, 9, 12. (12 is VERY difficult, since I live in NY. When anyone even SEES a camera near a government building, they flip-out!)

NY is VERY strict about where you can take pictures/video. Not only NYC, but also the suburbs (especially near any gov buildings). I guess it's the Sept. 11 "after-effect". And it's not easy or cheap to get a permit! They require insurance waivers, additional fees for police, etc. (I don't like using even a camera phone, because they could take it away.) BUT, the NY is safer now then it's ever been and that's a good thing!

BUT, having gone through the horror of 9/11, and seeing that cloud of "dust" linger around for a few weeks, most New Yorkers don't mind the secure measures. It's starting to lighten up a bit, but this is NY... Probably the most sought after city in the world for filming!

NY enforces permits more, probably because people try to film more here. Showing up "unknowingly" in some video or film would scare me more than the police taking my info for trying to film without a permit. I guess we get scared at different things. It sucks that NY charges for it! Invasion of privacy scares me more than reasonable limits of freedom. We are free to get a permit anytime we want.

I meant NY state. Permits here are given by the county, after being approved by first the county and then the state... so I'm guessing it varies from county to county. Also, NY (the state) is overall, VERY populated so it's hard to shoot in public without someone else getting in the picture! LOL
