  • 3:08 mini overtakes subaru :D

  • @burton76 Hehe, yes, is does keep up. In the old days the Americans created rules to ban minis from events such as the Pikes Peak Hill climbs. Europeans, fresh from their Mini Hill Climb events took cars over and blew away Mustangs and purpose built V8 hill climbers.

  • THe original Mini thousand engines were 998cc's And if u look further back in history they were 997,s as well. The 997 were where the 1071S engine came from

  • @JTFOCoD4 the 997's had larger stainless valves, and the crankshaft was also stainless steel and outsourced to a Rolls Royce factory for maunufacture. They were balanced too.

My 997 could rev to about 10,000 rpm. The 997 belongs in my (biased) list of top 5 finest engines ever made. Yes, sure, the 1500 cc turbo Honda F1 was phenomominal, but I am talking proportional to age, and at-the-time technology.

The 997 was just amazing :D

  • @breebw If u can rev your 997 to 10,000 RPM then its obviously heavily modified. What sort of power is it producing? However ive been working with minis for 25 years now and ive never seen a 997 rev that high.

  • does the old mini in front have a GSXR or R1 motor in it? I don't think the original motor in those things are close to 1000cc.
