Beautiful song. I don't think this is the version from Jericho The lyrics are a little different and there is no accordian on the bridge on this one.Theres a piano. Anybody know where this is from ?
I just want to say that since I was teenager I have always wished that I could get the emotion out of my voice and others to feel that same emotion like Rick could get out of his. But hey it's alright to have wishes as long as they bring joy answered or unanswered. Terry your brother changed my life and my ideas of the possibilities in music. Despite the song title It makes no difference. Your brother did make a difference. Thanks.
Apparently Rick carried this song around with him a long time before he decided to record it, glad he did tho. Actually on The Band's website once upon a time there was a live version aired to the public one afternoon with Rick playing this live. It knocks this sideways and is absolutely fantastic, this version is what we all know but that one live version was stunning. It's no longer there I don't think.
So beautiful. I'm so sad I missed Rick when he played in Cork City. Jesus. HOW did I let that happen? Just these various images and concerts from which to get to know him. You get his soul though, when he sings. It's all out there in the open for everyone to see
Thank you. I guess I've lived long enough that the notion that it is only after something is gone do you begin to appreciate what was. Thankfully we have posts such as this.
Who is the woman harmonizing? Or is it like Richard Manuel's falsetto? Either way, this is a real treasure, never knew of it, and think it's one of Rick's best. He was a great singer-- Manuel, Danko, and Helm, just amazing singers, and all so very singular. Thanks! It's painful to hear his last dinner theatre appearances with people ignorant of his talent just talking over his performances.Sad that people expect rockers just to disintegrate because they get older.
12 years out. Peace, Rick.
