I never played zerg, SC2 was my first Real time stratergie game. But these tips have definatly helped me improve from a protos heavy tech player to an adaptable zerg. Thanks :)
video author forgot to mention that hold position can be good for roaches and mutalisks as well. If there's a small number of long ranged units attacking the roaches or mutas, keeping them on hold position will have them auto-target workers without having to focus them down, or having the harassers move forward to attack the defenders instead.
The epic background footage is a good choice. I remember hearing something about putting your probes/drones on stop when they are attacked, as this blocks movement of the enemy lings or something. Do you know anything about that? Confused.
May I please get a top comment comment for this following folow-up PrOtiP:
Same appplies with mutas. Mutas are irritating most of the time as zerg because they chase down whatever is attacking them, so a marine slighty farther away will delay a muta harass for a good 2 seconds, 2 gaurd marines will delay for 4 secs, etc, so just hold command and let your muta take some damage, but manage to wipe out his workers.
The muta is virtually a flying melee unit, like a flying ling with lots of HP.
@TheStarcraft2Dude Nice, I see you moved from CoH to SC2 like everybody else. Was a big fan of ToH, always enjoyed it when you got pissed off at people who wouldn't micro their tanks properly. CLICK DRAG REVERSE, CLICK DRAG REVERSE
i have been doing this for a long time, even before this became popular...i just got frustrated of my lings following the workers or attacking cannons and stuff so i tried holding them just to see what will happen...this was around last year
Love these videos, during the beta I had never played sc before so the only thing I could think of doing was a 10 pool (it just seemed cool that I could max out my supply then make my production building, I had no idea it was cheesy lol). But he showed me how to do 12pool into roach and other builds that helped spring me into this rts. Thanks a ton for all the helpful videos Vitensby!
The 1 dislike was probably the blue protoss player, lol. Nice trick/strategy/tactic. I always use a-move win I do a zergling run-by, holdposition is arguably better than a-move.
@iLuvHinata360 i know, and since you seemed to have a clue about dislikes i hoped for a theory about the other 24 which followed, and you gave me one :D thx^^
@x3ICEx@leonenator Thanks for responding guys, i actually missed him saying that on the video. It's like 5am here, my brain isn't functioning properly lol
@claudiojoffe If you attack move and an offensive unit like a zealot moves to close then the zerglings will all attack the zealot and leave the probes as the zealot has a higher threat priority.
If there are enemy units nearby, your zerglings will prefer to attack them over the workers. You will do zero economic damage and lose all your zerglings for nothing.

I usually just hit A (for Attack) then click at the opposite side of their mineral line, it tends to do the trick. What are your thoughts on that?

@claudiojoffe If you attack move and an offensive unit like a zealot moves to close then the zerglings will all attack the zealot and leave the probes as the zealot has a higher threat priority.

x3ICEx 9 months ago
@claudiojoffe Problem is if your opponent sends non-worker units to defend, you lings will switch to them instead of the workers.
