I normally have issue with the way Leonard Bernstein handled Wagner (so far), but I have to say, from my perspective, he absolutely nailed this one. In fact, it sounds nearly identical in style to the Solti-Decca recording, which to me is rather a good thang. Mhm.
wow never thought much of Thomas Stewart but he is doing really good here.

You can see the influence of Wagner on Philip Glass here. Especially Glass's score for Hamburger Hill.
