There are some bigoted responses from so-called "Christians" to this. Yes, you are all free to practice your religion, but you do not have the freedom to impose those beliefs on others. They are out there for awareness. It was non-violent. Maybe your university should rethink their stances on LGBT issues and civil rights instead of acting like closed-minded hypocrites.
You did not want to worship you want to push your ideas, be they true or untrue, OBU is a PRIVATE college. Anyone is welcome as long as you follow the rules set forth by the PRIVATE college. HELLO!!
We are all sick and sinfull, but live a gay life knowing that it is wrong and claim yourself a christian?Do u really think this is ok with God?What about Sodoma and Gomorra? You don't have the right to walk inside a christian university doing whatever you want, if I walk inside my university saying they need to know Jesus and repent from their sins I will probably be arrested too because they are atheists. You need to repent and stop living this life style.I am not judging u but u need to repent.
You were given access to the GC which 90% of the student body goes to every day. What other access do you want...to come to class with us. OBU is a PRIVATE no public university. It almost makes sense to get arrested for trespassing on private property huh? And we dont hate you by the way, we simply dissagree with you which you were given access to talk with students regarding that dissagreement. You believe one way, we believe another. Call the cold case files, I just solved a mystery!
You were arrested because you were tresspassing, not going to church. you were given freedom on your first visit, and you painted us as biggots, why would be accomidate you again. You claim to love Christ, but instead of ministering to the lost you ride around to Christian campuses and try to make Christians out to look bad. stop picking fights and grow up. If you didnt like me, i wouldnt come to your house and stand in your yard tresspassing, and cry when I got arrested for it. ridiculous.
All of you are so busy trying to be so different, that it actually makes you exactly like everyone else.
I was at OBU (trying to go to class) that day, watching what was happening. It was a non-violent protest, true... but, you were told what would happen if you came onto campus. We pay over $20,000/year to attend this school and get a great education. If you're going to come here, uninvited and muck up our schedule and think nothing is going to happen, you're mistaken. Pure ignorance
its sad that these pigs think they are christians. not a chance. jesus calls them swine and sends them all to hell with all who hate him- pigs liars and swine unrepentant murderers
I'm an OBU student. Every single person who chooses to go to OBU agrees to abide by OBU's policies and to live a Christian lifestyle in accordance with the Bible. Since the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin, we all know before we go there that we can't engage in those activities. If a homosexual wants to go to college and live in that lifestyle, they should go to a college where it's accepted.
Coretta? MLK? Are you there??? Are you kidding me? You didn't go to OBU to "go to church". You went there b/c you had an agenda, which simply goes against the very grain of what believers at OBU hold so dear. Don't play the pity card after being denied access to chapel, a requirement for all, and choice by most who attend OBU. I agree with Tamra, as a person you should always be treated with respect. On the same token, consider that the next time you are crashing a time of worship.
Fist, OBU is a private college, they can let in and keep out whom they choose. Second, chapel is for worship ( or homework for some). You were denied entrance bc you weren't a student or guest, NOTHING PERSONAL. Third, as a graduate from OBU (2001), I accept your lifestyle and that it is legal, but I don't have to agree with it and never will. I still will always treat you with respect and dygnity, so do the same for Christians. There are bigger things to fight about in this world -hunger....
You would think that Jesus and the New Testament would have a different view of slavery, but slavery is still approved of in the New Testament, as the following passages show. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)
I was there talking to these people both times they came.First year they were allowed in the GC(which is the most popular building for students). We had a good time,my friends helped them out, even housed some of the them. After they left they gave us a bad review.when they came back, they were told they were not allowed on campus.
some clarification. Not everyone here is a missionary.Chapel is not church or fun.We aren't repressed.Just wanted a clear representation of what really happened.Message me if you want more real info. (was too long for one post.) Would love to talk if ya want to. ;)
Indeed, homosexuality IS a hate crime -- a hate crime HUMANITY! Homosexuality is a chief atrocity that breeds misandry (female hatred against males), as well as male self-hatred and spiritual disconnect. The consistency of the homosexual agenda continues to eat and eat and eat away at the natural, essential, and NECESSARY relationship between men and women TOGETHER (both in society AND in love) and will continue to do so until we are so broken apart, the words "mother" & "father" won't apply!
I graduated from OBU several years ago on chapel probation, so I curious to know: If you don't have CIV homework to finish, why would you want go to chapel.
GOD does not recieve worship from homosexuals , it is written those who worship GOD must worship him in spirit and in truth , that LEAVES HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIEANS AND BI SEXUALS OUT , THEY DO NOT LOVE GOD AND THEY DO NOT KNOW HIM
Wow, you have really strong feelings on this subject. The language that you're using comes across as very hateful too. Do we know the same Jesus?? Did Jesus even ever talk about "faggots" as you call us?? I don't want to get into a theological debate, but John 3:17 says For God did not send his Son to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (NIV)
I am so glad Jesus loves me, and I do my best to be as grateful as I possibly can be for that love. I'm so glad that he loves you too :) Doesn't it just blow your mind that the creator of all things loves us.
NEWS FLASH HOMOS DONT KNOW GOD . IF THEY DID THEY WOULD FEAR AND TREMBLE AND REPENT OF THE SIN OF HOMOSEXUALITY. HOMOS DO NOT LOVE GOD AND HE DOES NOT LOVE THEM.THEY Are pigs
All of those reading, please DO NOT associate this man with Oklahoma Baptist University. God loves all people. The God of the Bible loves unconditionally.
Jesus associated with prostitutes (probably some homosexual) and all kinds of sinners. Shouldn't you show the same love for them even if you believe they are sinners?
Yes but when they send hateful letters to your school and tell you that despite your request for them to not come to your campus... they are anyway... thats not Christ like either.. and besides.. they just want to trip you up in your words they are not in it for Christ.. .just their simple minded standards.. WE DONT HAVE TO CONFORM TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD... BTW.... dont talk about DR KING because he was fighting a legitimate fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am so sorry that you have so much hatred in your life. i am praying for you that you someday are able to find love in your heart for all of God's people.
Are you serious right now?! Get over yourself! Nobody feels sorry for you, and that is obviously your purpose for this whole video. Stay off our campus!!!
There's a lotta cool people in soulforce. They actually just finished visiting my school. I felt like it was mostly monologue as opposed to dialogue. . .which is what they said they were coming for. Also, a lot of the questions that students were directing towards the equality riders were being beat around the bush. In other words, they would try to answer a question with a question; which leaves more questions.
Making people think for themselves (i.e. posing questions as an answer to a question) is a great way to make people realize things they may have never realized before. Some of the greatest movers and shakers of our world, including Christ, Gandhi, and King, did exactly the same thing.
That is partially true. However, answering a question with a question, and not answering the first question that was posed to clarify what the point of the individual is trying to make isn't helpful at all. It confuses people. I don't have a problem with homosexuals, I know people who are LGBT (I think that's the order? Lol). But there were some ppl here at Gordon who were left without a lot of things unanswered. It was good to expose them to one of the real world components though.
There will always be unanswered questions. We can't answer them all. I'm sorry that we weren't able to do that; I don't think it is even possible... but this is why we have all our email addresses on our website and we encourage folks to email us and continue these conversations even after we leave. One thing that has upset me on this Ride is that we come to these campuses for one day and then we leave; no where near enough time to talk to everyone or answer every question.
Yeah. That really is unfortunate. Anyway, love all of you guys in the love of Christ, and hope that Gods plans and purposes are fufilled in all of you. I didn't get to sit down and chat with anyone, but maybe I'll follow up with that on the website and shoot an email to someone. Randomly, yes, but w/e. I love meeting new people!! Lotsa love, and God bless you!
Wait... you didn't get to sit down and chat with anyone and you are talking about unanswered questions? Now I'm going to assume you just saw the panel discussion. Okay... yeah... Please don't judge us on the panel discussion and DEFINITELY email one of us... then tell me whether or not you think questions have been answered.
Part 3: To say that being arrested for disobeying the rules came as a surprise to the SF is like saying that america was shocked when Britney Spear's and Kevin Federline's marriage came to an end...we all knew it was coming! Call them martyrs all you want, but they are bending the story to their advantage and they know it.
Part 2: The SF got exactly what they wanted when they stepped foot onto OBU private-property...an arrest. They actually lined up to be arrested one by one. Call me crazy, but a group of people lining up to be arrested seems strategically planned more than it does spontaneous.
Part 1: Let's cut the crap people. The SF was intentionally provoking OBU so that they WOULD get arrested so that they could create a scene. If the SF TRULY wanted to "make a difference" peacefully, then they should have complied with the rules set forth by OBU and found alternative means of social interaction with students. Knowing in advance that you will be arrested for stepping on campus and then trying to get into the chapel which is ON CAMPUS speaks volumes about the motives of the SF.

The rules & consequences given to them in advance were ignored when they left city property to enter the Chapel where they were arrested.
FACT: OBU did restrict Riders to only one room in 2006. FACT: OBU lied about 2006 in 2007.
