  • Even the racks on top of the minivan flew off.

  • 1) Front seat had worrying amount of travel.

    2) Roof rails would hit other cars

3)The head would smash the driver side window as it actually was pushed outside the plane of the window opening.

  • This is so a marginal rating (airbag fires late, crush zone is not as absorbant...)

  • ...looks like your Thule would be screwed if you had one on there xD

  • My mom has this van...it has around 242k+ miles on it, it still runs. It runs terrible, but its still running somehow.

She really, really needs to get another car.

  • i have to say my family was in a head on crash in a carvan when a pickup truck backed into the so good no airbags went off

  • drivers front airbag deploys too late.. On bigger speeds it simply won't have time to open

  • @Salomanchik That's probably the only thing that stopped the dummy from snapping its neck on the steering wheel after flying through the air bag. xD

  • I have a voyager that has 177k on it. Of course it had its tranny changed a few times.

  • I hate minivans.

  • love how the roof racks just flew off...never did trust those

  • Well I know a guy with to Gm trucks both 97s and they have 260 thousand miles on them and they still run Great. I talked to this guy at my School, he owns a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and its has 297 thousand miles on it and it Sounded great and Ran Perfect, so that is Why im Buying myself a Jeep Cherokee soon i Hope.

  • shitty people mover get a camaro

  • My 2000 Grand caravan's transmission has far out lasted my uncle's second transmission in his Camry, all cars are great, it just depends on how you take care of them, if you never change the oil idc what car or campany it is, it's gonna fail, proper maintance is everything..

  • that is the most fail comment i've ever heard. honda is credible, toyotas are shitty hyundai's are even worse. i've had a ride in both, trust me

  • Toyotas are ok now whats wrong with hyundia's i drive a 02 santa Fe

  • u should see the crash test

  • I'm not a fan of toyota anymore either. There were complaints on Power Steering in the newest generation of Corolla, Gas Pedal which is very common, and their brakes just started to fail up a bit. And their cars get more boring and boring. I'm also not a fan of Chrysler (makes Dodge and Jeep). GM (Chevrolet and GMC) and Ford are the vehicles I really want to buy.

  • Your forgot mazda cocksucker, fords have been world reknowned for their reliability and longevity.

  • prove it

  • U Prove It

  • I have a taurus with 500,000 miles on it, with all documentation. No rebuilds on engine or tranny.

And sorry put if a car has a bad engine then rebuild it and its fixed and take care of it. Its not really hard to do. Most people are just either poor or lazy or both. I'm just saying that most cars are built to a standard other wise the company wouldn't last as long. I also have a K-car that is 25 years old and I drive it every day. Its American and it lasted. there's the prove

  • I have Dodge trucks with over 600K, Ford is lucky to do that! GM and Dodge are part of the million mile club, Ford is junk and is not.

  • @MPLSTORM Ford isn't bad, just the people who drive them are. people just arnt responsible.

  • @MPLSTORM Like any other brand of car if you take car of it...it will last. Ford is good just people who own them arent.

  • lol i wish that was my moms car ;)

  • Glad my dad drives one, it used to be my moms, but now its his, its got 165k miles on it, now i fell safe with him in it, not his old deathtrap Geo Tracker.

  • Oops feel*

  • Comment removed

  • The vauxhall/opel sintra only got a 2 star EURONCAP rating. The Sintra was overwhelmed on impact the steering wheel broke off its column and the driver faced a threat of fatal neck injury because his head was forced back and upwards. Opel has says it has now taken steps from it from snapping off. The car was awarded three stars, but the final star has been struck through to indicate NCAP's fears over fatal injury. Opel has announced that the Sintra is being withdrawn from sale

  • it got poor rating

  • My crash into a stationary object in this very model was at 70MPH into a car at a stop light. Falling alseep at the wheel is easier than you think. Also, seatbelts save lives. Always wear one.

  • we know

  • lol

  • I find it quite amusing that the roof rails flew off.

  • dude thats funny shit i never expected someone to say that. i give u thumbs up for that

  • Yes, Sir what is your problem All there are the same F@#%* shit take a a look in my vid my old 2002 Chrysler another shit like my 1998 Montana.................and F@#$%* all

  • ok, chryslerminivans1111... you are dumb! Chrysler is shit and GM or "GENERAL" Motors as normal english writing people spell it; rules... no doubts about it

  • ok, chryslerminivans1111... you are dumb! Chrysler is shit and GM or "GENERAL" Motors as normal english writing people spell it; rules... no doubts about it

  • ok, chryslerminivans1111... you are dumb! Chrysler is shit and GM or "GENERAL" Motors as normal english writing people spell it; rules... no doubts about it

  • ok you admit it they updated the name but not the desighn ha and so since i proved you wrong you try to bring up whos companys in worse shape proved you wrong there too. man you are hitting duds arnt you

  • also that v6 chryslwer has has a damn timming belt not even equipped with a chain, so cheap no vvt nothing it blows. i changed a water pump on the 3.5 before you have to take the timming cover off its horrible. and the valve cover are stamped steel just like the 3.3 and the 3.8 cheap

  • yes but its dohc Not push rod ohv but if thats the case 3.6L it produces 275 hp (205 kW)and has been certified by the SAE to produce 302 hp what about those apples

  • ok also the 3.1 started off as the 2.8 in the 80's and then grew from there now its up to the 3.5 displacement look at the impala and other gm vans and cars with the 3.5 its still the same engine. also pound for pound The 3.3L chrysler v6 vs 3.5l v6 the gm is less powerful. simply sad

  • mabey compare apples to apples.

the Chrysler 3.5 is more powerful than generic motors 3.5!!!!!

the 3.4 04+ is made in CHINA!

  • It was produced from 1989 through the present and was commonly paired with the Chrysler 3.3 engine in transverse engined cars. The Ultradrive and its descendants are produced at Kokomo Transmission in Kokomo, Indiana.

  • 89-91, updated named 41TE...

and i know where Kokomo is.

    im not dumb.

hmmm, generic motors has how many assembly plants closed now? hmm, the H2 plant in Mishawaka is CLOSED!

  • Hmmm Google chrysler 3.3L oil problems

and there is a federal investigation in to the ultradrive

  • hmm, the google search of 3.3L oil problems fruited no results for me. nothing that proved anything.

and the ultradrive is an 88-91. sorry.

    and i also googled this:

    federal investigation into the ultradrive

and all it had was articles about a local ortopedics company Biomet.

  • and if there were problems with the 3.3 3.8 Chrysler v6's would they still be used? hmm.

sorry but the gm 3.1 3.4(american) are no more. the 3.4 was "redesigned" and built in China.

    sorry.

  • sorry.

2004 and up the 3.4 is Chineese made!

it is imported to the US for use in the Torrquinox and Rendvouz and the 04 and 05 Venture.

    hmm.

when genericmotorsminivans9968 stoops to insults, that means I WON!

i just used your words against you. you dumbass!

  • wtf no there not! how stupid can you be

  • what the fuck,

    YES THEY ARE!!!!

    google gm 3.4 chinese engines

you will see that they are exported from China to Canada.

Its built by GM's joint venture with Shanghai Automotive industry Corp

    haha.

    you dont know shit.

  • me a sick bastard.

you are the one who is saying unsafe minivans are safe.

do you know how many people have died because generic motors was to lazy and cheap to design it safe???!?!?

  • there is no way that chrysler vans are reliable there not. There powertrains are iron block iron head pushrod engines that have horrible issues with oil consumsion and dont even get me started about transmissions.

  • what? oil usage in a Chrysler iron block v6? are you high?!?! and bad transmissions? yea right.

    when pigs fly!

  • Ok 34 is made in lansing mich chrysler had no role in the atomic bomb no auto company did you obviosly dont know shit.

  • actually yes they did.

you even backed me up when i used my chknbro username.

you must be gmminivans9968's gay lover.

  • the 3.4 from 2004-today IS built in China.

it is used in the Chevy Equinox and Pontiac Torrent.

the 3.4 suffers from premature intake gasket failure and premature head gasket failure. also very bad piston slap.

  • its the LNJ engine.

    CHINEESE JUNK!

  • 3.4 is made in China.

Chrysler played an important roll in the Atomic bomb and other things in WW2.

no wonder you like generic motors... your dumb as hell.

  • 3.4 in the Equinox are made in China.

the 6spd auto in EVERY GM vehicle is a Ford/GM

and the Opel Sintras used Opel engines from EUROPE!

  • the 97-04 have got an overall of 4stars... BUT they were rated POOR because there was LITTLE survival space. and the forces on the foot caused it to break off. the steering coloum didnt colapse in.

and if these mythical changes were made in 2001 then they wouldve been retested, but the only changes in 2001 was a refreshed grille. the 2004 models were the same damn thing as the 1997 models. CHEAP AND UNSAFE AS HELL!

  • Hey Chryslerminivans1111 and GMminivans9968 you guys need to get a fuckin life. I mean fighting over minivans, who the hell are you guys fucking soccer moms? And besides Honda and Toyotas minivans are far safer than any of the shit boxes from GM Chrysler and even Ford. If you guys wanna stop being little soccer mom bitches who wine about vans all day then go fight over trucks. Trust me its way more fun.

  • Chrysler minivans have ALWAYS been safer.

They have been 4 and 5 star rated for YEARS!

They are just as reliable as Honda and Toyota. the Chryslers are way more innovative too!

  • bunch of fags fighting over minivans lol

  • Amen, man!

  • the 97-04 gm minivans got 0stars.

  • 3.4 in the Equinox are made in China.

The 6spd auto in EVERY GM is a Ford/GM.

  • a sob? are you bringin my momma into this? you better not...

    unless you wanna be hurtin.

and yes any gmminivan has a resale of 2,000$-5,000$ less than a compariable chrysler.

  • HAHAHAHA Watch the roof racks on this shit box.....

  • um that is NOT the roof rack. its the cross bars. the roof rack is screwed into the sheet metal. and anyway the Chrysler minivans have ALWAYS been safer than the gm shitboxes and them ford pos!

  • Chill guys, its a minivan.... lol....

    But,

Hey atleast GM will still be around in a few years....

  • um Chrysler will always be around. GM just lost 39BILLION dollars. THE MOST OF ANY COMPAY EVER! they wont be around much longer. and i will laugh my ass off when they file for bankrupcy!

  • gm minivans have a resale value anywhere from $2,000 to $5,500 lower than a compariable Chrysler in the same condition. and ford minivans have an average of $1,500 less resale value than a Chrysler.

go to Kelly Blue Book and try it.

and if you say "fuck kbb" or "screw kbb" or anything of that nature... then i proved you wrong!

  • european test are identical to the american test. 40mph and every thing. but the LHD scored less than the RHD! it is like that on most vehicles. and the 97-04 gm minivans got 0stars in the ncap test! haha!

  • the 3.4 is made in china. the 3.4 in the Equinox and Torrent and later Renzdvous are made in China. google GM chinese 3.4 v6. Read all about it.

Chrysler helped build the Atomic bomb too!!!! bet you didnt know that! did ya? NOPE! and Chrysler is good.

  • yes i do.

they 3.4 is made in china.

3.1 3.4 3.5 3.8 3.9 all have intake flaws that pour coolant in and destroys the engine. and the above engines are soo poor designed that they have piston slap!

  • Voyager? thats the Eouropean LHD model.

The 2001-2007 Chrysler got 5stars in RHD. and 3 in LHD. sorry.

  • um your gay.

who would want a v-8 minivan?

    and spinners?

chrysler minivans hold there resale value better than ford and gm knock offs.

  • um your gay.

who would want a v-8 minivan?

    and spinners?

chrysler minivans hold there resale value better than ford and gm knock offs.

  • while using my chknbro username i proved it to you that gm minivans dont hold there resale value!

  • while using my chknbro username i proved it to you that gm minivans dont hold there resale value!

  • no... a 1984 Voyager/Caravan cost around 1,000 dollars in very poor condition.

  • gm minivans arent the safest.

    they arent innovtive

they dont keep there resale value as good as a Chrysler/Honda/Toyota.

  • yes they do.

like there 2.8 3.1 3.4 3.5 3.8 3.9 engines suck. along with the trannies that back them.

and the hydramatic 350 sucked too!

  • its $1,200. not $2,000. at the most it only cost 1,500.

  • and the GM engine and trannys dont suck?

  • the dodge grand caravan/ chrysler town and country have the lowest mantinence cost of minivans recorded by car and driver! haha.

  • um. a $2,000 chrysler minivan? is it a 1984? i guess so. Chrysler minivans have higher resale value than gm minivans.

  • Crysler minivans off the dealership are worth $100.00 right after u drive off the lot!

    unlike GM

  • um.

you must be retarded to think that what you said is true. CHrysler minivans hold there resale value better than shitty chevy minivans!

  • Everyone who likes Chrysler minivans can kiss my ass!

  • mark the acre. and your a gm minivan fuck-off arent you?

i like minivans that are reliable, safe, and keep there resale value.CHRYSLER!

  • sorry. there were no changes to the gm u-body in 2001. they were all the same from 1997-2005.

  • but they arent cheap and flexiable. gm minivans are just junk.

  • Again GM RULES!

  • Your gay.

This is why 1994-2008 Chrysler minivan is SAFE while the 1997-2005 gm minivans kill people everyday.

  • Dodge cars are safe but their transmissions are horrifying..

  • what tranny are you talkin about? some 15 year old A604 with 150,000 miles?

  • Nope, 7 year old Dodge Caravan Top-of-the-Line.

  • if you are gonna say anything sucks. provide us with more info. what are the miles... has the vehicle been abused? most ofter the van has 140,000 miles. been abused. (it cant be abused if a 70 year old woman drives it all the time and is the only driver). so it prolly does have 140k miles and abused too!

  • um, my parent's drive it? It has never been abused. I don't know, but the car was sold for $2200 and to fix the transmission would cost $2000.

  • my parents drive theres. and 2000$ to fix? its only 1200$. and how do you know its never been abused? are you with them everytime they drive it? when sombody borrows it? didnt think so!

  • No one has borrowed it except my aunt and uncle and they wouldn't abuse anything. Ya it costs $2000 to fix...

  • it only cost $1200... $1500 at the most.

and if the van had around 130,000miles than the tranny was gonna go out. auto trannies go out (or need work) around 130,000 miles.

  • $2000 said the fucking dude okay?

  • I'm not here saying dodge rules or anything but when it came to safety, gas mileage and general options on a minivan, the caravan pretty much falls into that category, of course Honda and Toyota are superior in durability and longevity. Not all of us can spend that much on a vehicle. The Caravans fits the tight budget families.

  • When u buy a minivan I hope that most buyers intentions are that I need t a vehicle to keep my family safe in getting then from point A to point B. How can u even make a remark in saying GM minivans rule when it's plain and simple that the children in the back seat would see their parents being crushed in an accident?

  • You might want to watch that again, the middle Cross members rails are what flew off the roof rail assembly, the part that's bolted to the roof did not come off. Then again I own one so I know what they look like.

  • you have to resort to childish name calling? wow. how old are you? two?

  • again gm is known for unreliable minivans. this proves my point exactly. and you just have to say somthin cocky to everybody who hates them. your so cocky, thats what you like to eat.

  • hey man GM is ok, but chrysler is better, they really are! so if you have such a thing for gm, why don't you f*ckin go work for the company and correct every mistake they make. i own a 2002 caravan, and my wife drives a 2003 montana, the montana has been giving us nothing but problems, all we had have to for the chrysler is put gas in it and go, but the gm is unreliable, but it is safe.

  • gm just sucks. face it. and leave chknbro alone!

  • your just spamming now. that is safer than 1997-2004 GM vans! Chrysler is way the hell better than GM in every possiable way!

  • Not just the xhaust look very closly at the bottom middle its bending. IF this was a 50 Mph or 55 crash it would have caved the middle

  • no sir thats bend watch it more times.

  • its the exhaust. watch again.

  • wow if you look at the bottom middle of the van you will see it starting to bend. Any faster and it would have bent right in the middle causing the whole van to colapse and uh destroy it self. Kinda like the chevy astro. People buy a Toyota.

  • That's not bend Kiro, that's change of perspective as the vehicle bounces back and the driver side of the van lifts to show the underside. The front door being pushed down may have confused you.

  • i didnt see it start to bend. are you sure you didnt see the exhaust coming down? have you seen the sienna crash test? when it rebounds back down the rear wheels go in to the passenger compartment, and the front wheels intrude on the foot wells. check out the 2008 chrysler minivan crash. now they are built like tanks! american for life.

  • This is the OFFSET Crash test, its MUCH more severe than the old test on the older caravans

  • i only buy honda's, i think spending more money on a car is worth the safety, and you honda's are very well made cars, ive never had one break-down on me. and ive only takin it to the shop for maintiance.

  • any car will be reliable if you take care of it. but only the toughest cars can survive the offset crash.

  • Umm have you guys even looked at the Windstar, Freestar and Montana crash test????

Caravan did the best :) cause there the leader in Minivans.

The Caravan is built in Windsor, Ontario and St. Louis, Missouri.

  • i dont understand how this is accurate. first off, the roof bars flew off, when they should be locked on and how did the gas door open?

  • its hitting concrete at 50 mph.. the roof rack is screwed into sheet metal with little 3/16" screws .. hmmmmmm wonder why

  • It seems to me that the design from before 2001 was more rigid.

  • wow it makes me not want our van that we have now because it's the same as that &:)

  • My bad, I looked at the ratings, it sucks

  • yeah rite your car probably sucks more

  • I don't have a car because I want to save money, ninja-dude. if I was to buy a car or van, it would be a Honda, you can kiss your Caravan all you want.

  • Hondas are expensive, and the service is terrible. They won't let your car out of the shop under $1,000.

  • My parents actualy own a 2001 Chrysler Grand Voyager (Thats the British version of the exact same car) and i hit a verge at 50mph avoiding a drunk driver and i must say it held up alot better than that..

  • it looked like the head went through the air bag and hit the wheel

  • it rocked

  • the hand was crushed after that crash test, have you seen the crash test of the same car but in rear? lol it sucks the gasoline ran out

  • In right hand drive it scored 2/5 stars.

  • The airbag deployed a bit too late. But overall, it performed well.

  • Good thing nothing was attached to the roof rack!

  • yeah... and the roof rack got as smashed as the van did!! =)

  • it did pretty good
