Your cathode part of the configuration does not have to be submerged in the solution to perform. If your anodes(plates) are suspended from the cathode in the solution you can still produce hydrogen. Your cathode does not have to touch any liquid. Google "plating and electrolysis".
i have a really big Question to ask you?... do you have to do all that stuff it says like get leds and power resistors? etc. i dont have any of that stuff and wont get my hands on it till next week when im back in uni. i got a power supply from a old pc. and it came with its own power Switch.
At this point all I did was take all the wires not needed and taped them up and left them in the power supply. Only using 5 wire colors total. Red(5V) Yellow(12V) Black(GND) Green(Switch-Leg-to-GND). Other than that I didn't use any of the other wires or LEDs or power resistors.
I was using the 12V* bulb to demonstrate, but at this point the PSU is running without it hooked straight to the HHO-Cell on the 5V* wires.
. can i just use it with the all the grounds striped and wired together . and all the reds striped and wired together and all the yellows striped and wired together.???????????????????
so i now have my on off swich.
my black ground,
red 5v
and yellow. 12v
can i for eg. connect my red and black 5V & ground strait to my fuel cell with out all that stuff it says to put into the ps.? and not have the power supply burning out or breaking??
Man you did a good thing with the anealing I had forgot about that. I think I may do one on the process involved. Chemical passavation is not the way to go. By the way the cutting wheel is the best way. Harbour Fright best buy.
Ok...I got some questions answered thank you. I used a dremel to cut the edges off it works great. I go through two cutters per plate but they are cheap. I cut 1/4in holes in the original screw holes so I can put in 1/4in spacers. They do make them small enough for a 6-32 bolt. I used a utility knife to cut the spacers down to size. I hope this helps... KEEP ROCKIN!!
When I meant saturated, honestly should of said the actual content of Baking Soda based in the water bath.
Really meant to say 3-4 teaspoons, where before that would of over loaded using 12v* capacity. The 5v* between the plates really inhibits all of the heat production resulting from high amperage.
Thanks for the comment Sid. Your HHO experiments are up there with the best!
Just wanted to post a reply on some findings on the subject of baking soda not working at a saturated condition.
What I did was. Added baking soda to the water bath at a 3-4 teaspoon for that small container. Then I added white vinegar until the water bath started to "fizz", when it settled I would do it again. Until the water stopped fizzing upon adding the white vinegar.

are you able to measure amperage across the PSU

Also the orange(3.3V) colored wire tied to the brown, it is a power sensing wire.
Other than that, it is a very simple mod.

When I used a solution saturated with baking soda I produced a lot of non combustable gas. Hmmmmm?

Now the bubbles are highly volatile!
