You guys that are for Nationalized health care only have a case ONLY if you can convince me to trust the government. I'd rather deal with greedy corporations than greedy politicians. The politicians are much worse than CEOs. If you can't convince me to trust government, you have no case for nationalized health care.
I bet NO ONE can name ANYTHING that government has run efficiently and cost-effective. They can't even run Medicare and Medicaid correctly, and thats only a small portion of people.
Bobby, where are some ideas for how to make health care more affordable and accessible. First, make denial of health care because of pre-existing coverage illegal. Deny coverage for anything that isnt necessary for the well-being of the person, like birth control, Viagra, non-reconstructive surgery, breast enlargements, abortions, so on and so on. If insurance companies stopped paying for all these ridiculous things, that will bring insurance cost down enough, with other possible ideas.
My daughter pays $ 7,000 a year, before taxes, for an average plan, with lifetime limits and large deductible. It's her and two healthy kids. That's the equivalent of $ 10,000 a year. How many families do you think can afford this premium?
Would you rather have every insurance company close its doors because you beleive a corporation making money is repudiating? If government went into health care, they would be buying the health care from these same exact companies anyways, which solves basically nothing. Solution: reform private health care to make it more affordable and accessible to people. Drop pre-existing clauses, drop coverage for family planning services. Those are only two of many solutions to this problem.
Yes I would rather insurance companies close its doors. We don't need a FOR PROFIT middle man when it comes important matters such as health and medicine.
The government saves people money by the mere fact that it's not a greedy FOR PROFIT corporation. Look at the health care system of some of the wealthiest countries in the world and you'll see a nationalized can work. (Canada, UK, Japan, Germany)
Government would make things absolutely worse. They can't even reform the post office. Government control would not address the issues that cost of high health care. We're not in Canada, UK, Japan or Germany. We're in America, this country is very unique. Free Health Care is way too COSTLY and will bankrupt America. It's already bankrupted Massachussetts. Government cannot run ANYTHING efficiently.
That the typical republican talking point. That government is ALWAYS bad, that it ALWAYS screws things up.
But as a matter of fact, its not government that's bad... just the people running the show. A corporation like walmart can handle 100,000 employees and 1000s of stores with peak efficiency. Why? Because of good leadership and management. If we had the right kind of leadership, management and organization running our government agencies then they CAN succeed.
We're Americans. We believe America is the greatest most powerful country in the world.
Yet you happen to think that we can't pull off nationalized healthcare, something almost every top nation in the world has.
I disagree, I think we can.
We are the greatest nation, we defeated the nazis, fought for our independence, and got ourselves out of a great depression. Surely we can provide free healthcare to all our citizens.
Jindal just turned down the health care stimulus but he is taking care of his rich friends.
Jindal administrations spending plans for a $414 million economic development fund.
For a chicken plant, The Shaw Group and two New Orleans area projects.
Using the money for the poultry industry and The Shaw Group would require the Legislature to revamp the state law .
Jindal has no problem changing the law to benefit his rich friends
