  • The nerve of that guy! He shouldn't have told Randy Savage nothing , man!

  • This guy is my f'ing idol.

  • I thought Savage wrestled in ICW. Did he wrestle and spend time in both ICW and Memphis?

  • @HCL808 this is when ICW closed and he started in memphis before WWF

  • Long Live The Macho Man Randy Savage

  • cocaine is a hell of a drug

  • great stuff, too bad mcmahon put everyone else out of business and then turned every wrestler into a cartoon figure

if you want integrity watch everything (except WWF) prior to crockett folding

  • The heading is false. He was on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, a wrestling organization on the east coast of Canada in the 70's. He had blonde hair.

  • The heading is false. He was on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, a wrestling organization on the east coast of Canada in the 70's.

  • Macho Maddness at its best.

  • Miss ya Macho.

  • This is his first TV appearance? It seems as if the fans already know him.

  • @RWright2006 It's his first appearance on Memphis/JarrettTV. He had been in several promtions before that, most notably his family's ICW based out of Kentucky. They had a nasty war with Jarrett promotions in the 4 years or so before this. At this time, ICW went out of business and the Poffos agreed to work with Jarrett/Lawler. This is how he showed up in Memphis where he had been threatening and challenging the Jarrett wrestlers for years. His showing up on TV like this was "shoot" like.

  • Randy Savage was easily one of the most charasmatic high energy characters in wrestling, and could shoot amazing segments and interviews (especially with Mean Gene).

Its cool to see he had it before the WWF

  • OHHH YEAHHH!!!! The Macho KING is making his way to the Ring acompanied by his Darling Sweet Elizabeth in Heaven with The MADNESS & Snapping into a Slim Jim against Owen Hart and others. R.I.P. Macho Man!!

  • 2nd best pile driver after Paul Orndorff

  • One of a kind, incredible!

  • RIP Macho Man

  • 244 likes and 0 likes

  • He's been crazy for a long time! And he clearly was one of the top 10 wrestlers ever! Thanks for great times, as exemplified in this video! Rest in peace!

  • A side note Macho man Randy savage, lenny and angelo poffo attack superstar bill dundee and dundee pull his gun out and put it to macho man face a year before this moment took place

  • @jtsomer1670 Actually it was one on one and Savage yanked the gun from Dundee and pistol whipped him. The Memphis promotion claimed that Dundee was attacked outside a restaurant by Jimmy Hart's First Family to explain his black eye.

  • I was five years old and living in memphis and went to mid south coliseum on mondays. i thought this wastruly real and the rest was BS. RIP Machoman RIP

  • sweet, he piledrives the guy, then the other guy gets an elbow then a piledriver for good measure. so cool.

  • The Savage you saw on tv was the Savage you saw in real life, that's what I take from this.

  • RIP Macho Man

  • I will sincerely miss Randy Savage, we was one of my favorites. God Bless his wife and family!

  • It's hilarious that he looked about 50 years old at his "debut". R.I.P MACHO!

  • Damn, I was expecting him to be green since he hadn't been on the big stage very long...instead he's dynamite. This guy was a real phenom. Besides being a great in ring performer, his mic skills put the current stars to shame.

  • RIP Randy

  • so many legends are dieing

  • LOL...so funny. He was ahead of his time. No one like him. He will be missed. Show heaven how it's done Macho.

  • CONFETTI!!!

    R.I.P Macho Man.

  • RIP Macho Man

  • Macho Man was born a champeen and will always be a champeen. Look, the beast was barely contained and yet he was as charming as anyone. Vince Mcmahon will always be a schmuck. Fuck him. LONG LIVE SAVAGE!!!!!

  • I hope he's waiting for Dennis Rodman to show up one day in heaven so he can throw Rodman in a porta potty again.

  • that crowd got they moneys worth right then!!! RIP Macho Man...

  • RIP Mr. Poffo! Love you Randy!

  • It's great that he was the "Macho Man" from the very beginning.

  • Awesome,.. RIP Mach

  • I used to watch wrestling growing up as a kid. During the golden years of wrestling I remember my eyes would be glued to the tv. Macho Man was part of the crew that entertained millions of families in their living rooms across America. As kids, we would pretend to be Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, etc.. and we would wrestle. Many good times. We lost one of our childhood icons. Thank you, Macho Man, for all the memories. Thanks for all the " OOOH YEAAHH's !!" GOD Bless you & Rest In Peace, Randy Savage

  • damn that guy in the ring in the beginning is taking some pretty bad bumps

  • Damn RIP Macho Man

  • What an amazingly epic Champion. So full of charisma, you will be missed.

  • ahahah @ 2:15 "DON'T TOUCH ME NOTHIN'"

  • RIP Macho Man

  • i bet right now, God is lettin Macho Man wrestle some Angels.

see ya Macho. miss you too =')

  • The ICW had just folded when the Poffos invaded Memphis. The Poffos were outlaws by choice and damn if they didn't become household names. Classic family, classic wrestlers, classic memories...

  • One of the all GREATS of Professional Wrestling...RIP Randy Poffo! Macho Man was awesome in his TV debut, classic elbow drop off the top rope, no one did it better... :-(

  • The Lord called you home, to be on the biggest stage of them all. Thru the years you entertained the masses, while doing it with style and class. I for one speak for many who watched you over the years, and want to say Thank You.....You'll be Iconic Forever......Randy "Macho Man" Savage 1953 - 2011

  • That was one of the best debuts in wrestling history!!!!! My heart was hurt when I heard of your passing;infact, you were one of the few people in life that made my eyebrows rise as a youth in the 80's. You enjoy your peace Randy! You fn earned it!

  • Rest In Peace Macho Man.

  • RIP!

Awesome to see this footage! funny how it end with the old guys from the muppetshow.. :-P

  • this is what wrestling needs now macho man changed the game

  • RIP SAVAGE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • This is how the Macho Man showed up in heaven.

  • @bertmustin hahahaha i just wasted a hit but it was fucking worth it i can totally picture it

  • Serpico maybe?

  • RIP....ooooooh yeah

  • Hey guys! To all of the young fellows, Memphis wrestling was the bomb back in the early 80's and Ratndy Savage was a big part of the reason why! I seem to remember a guy called Leaping Lanny as being his partner and , in fact, his brother back then. Am I correct in that thought? Now I know that LL was wrestling in Mempho back then but I'm just a little fuzzy on his details. You guys remember "Lance Russell's Nose" sung by Jinmmy Hart? If not check it out cause ot was freaking hilarious! Peace!

  • @wisconsinjed Leaping Lanny not only IS his brother, but also played The Genius in the WWF

  • Rest in Peace, Randy...

  • RIP Macho Man - One of the best ever.

  • RIP Randy. The camera is definitely on you now, man.

  • I met him when I worked at Western Sizzlin', a steak house, in Danville KY when I worked there back in 1982. He was in there eating. Randy Poffo is what he introduced himself to me as.

We didn't sell Slim Jim at the steak house. He was just there eating with someone. AND...he talked normal! No straining the "Oh Yeah".

  • Confetti? What the hell?

  • my favorite wrestlier ever

  • Lance Russell is supreme. Truly. And as for Savage, this level of intensity makes his WWF run look tame by comparison. This is true helter skelter

  • A legend from the start.

  • his voice changed over the years

  • Freak out man!

Don't tell me nothin maan. Don't tell me nothin maan. Don't tell me nothin maan.

    Four years 8 days!

Get the king out here right now! BANG. Get the king out here right now! BANG.

This has an 1970s afterschool special on angel dust level of intensity to it.

  • now that's how you invade a tv set. no one had the intensity to pull this madman stunt off but the macho man. no one!

  • 0:22 future hip replacement surgery candidate

  • Wow, Ken Raper! you always knew he was gonna get the tar beaten out of him, lol.

  • Savage enjoy after the same end of move us The Undertaker later.

  • 100 LIKES and 0 DISLIKES... only the Macho Man can do that.... OH YEAH!!!

  • Dont Tell Me Nothin Man!!

  • @gras1hoppa Really?? Is that what he said?????

  • Look at the charisma in Savage.. no wonder why Vince went after this guy and he went on to be the best of all time! 1:56

  • I like him better without all that gay stuff he wore in the WWF.

  • All those moves that he did in this segment remained with the macho man his whole career. It just goes to show, that you have to learn the fundamentals of your profession, no matter how meager, before you can get to the big time.

  • is it me or is Angelo Poffo absolutely horrible. Why would someone as awesome as the Macho Man would have a square like Angelo in his corner? Were they related?

  • @freqlink - Angelo was his dad.

  • @HawkfanMom1981 Thanks Hawk. I have known since I was ten years old watching Memphis wrestling that they were related...just wanted to point out that Angelo was horrible :)

  • @freqlink Angelo Poffo was Savage's father you stupid mark.

  • @sickandtiredofmorons I know he was Savage's dad. And Leaping Lanny was his brother. I guess calling people stupid is the sigh of someone who can't pick up sarcasm????

  • @freqlink It's not sarcasm. It's blatent stupidity and ignorance.

  • oooooooooooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaaah !!

  • Macho was wide open..and ahead of his time!

  • WOW, the original Macho Elbow from the top!!

  • savage is da man

  • He was always the Macho Man Randy Savage

  • @ResplendentRecords

you mean randy poffo never had any characters besides macho man? if so, that's incorrect.

  • Memphis Wrasslin - a cultural icon of the 20th century.

  • i miss seeing the old granny's that thought this shit was real...

  • I wouldn't tell randy savage nothing man...

  • Randy Savage and his brother used to wrestle here in Nova Scotia on Atlantic Grand prix Wrestling. This was on tv and from what I can remember, it was back in the 60's and 70's.

  • @holymackeral456 Try the 80's. Randy was 10-15 years old in the 60's.

  • @planetrob555

You are correct. The 60's would have been too early. I was about 10-12 and I am 46 now. 70's at least.

  • @holymackeral456 K. Sorry if I sounded harsh. Didn't mean for it to sound that way.

  • @planetrob555

Not at all. I really couldn't remember myself, but now that you pointed it out, the 60's were WAY to early.

  • @holymackeral456 ya he was playing baseball in like 71 so i dont even think it was thought in his head untill the later part.

  • OHH YEEEEAAHHH!stiil looks the same

  • Like the Fedora

  • That's probably not the same Pink Panther as the South African wrestler who is the father of Justin Gabriel.

  • you cant teach someone to act like that. great characters come only once in a while. this was 30 yrs ago. Vince had alot to choose rom back then to build his empire.

  • @spenben Vince's inflated ego won't allow him to realize that it wasn't just him that made the WWE a success. It was guys like Hogan, Macho, Bret, Austin, Rock and numerous others that made him rich. He isn't as big of a creative mind as people think. He almost went out of business because he had no idea what the audience wants and still to this day, doesn't know or care.

  • @RSXemperor

    you said it brother...

  • Man, Mach looks like he took fashion lessons from Chuck Mangione! I thought he was going to whip out a horn and start playing a little "Feels so right". Great stuff here. I always enjoyed seeing wrestlers first starting out hit themselves with things to prove their tough/craziness. Piper with a bottle for example. Savage does his version here with a chair. Classic!

  • This apend only when the man love hes carrear.

  • Classic macho man he was and is one of the greats fuck hogan macho man had charisma and talent hogan had a hulk up and a leg drop !!!! Ohhhhhhh yeaaahhhhh !!!!! DIG IT !!!!!

  • Sweet jacket.

  • @FartScrap

The jacket? What about that hat?!

  • RIP Angelo Poffo.

  • Lance Russell must have been the only announcer to talk balk to the wrestlers.

  • macho fucked them ham and eggers up. lmfao

  • randy savage can act his ass off pal!

  • savag wasn't acting savage is nuts!

  • Blow and Mushrooms?

    Ohhhhhhhhh....What a Rush!

  • Man, it's weird to see Savage on such a small stage because he's so huge in persona and with his big elbow off the top, he obviously belonged in big arenas. I am always entertained and amused by the stuff Savage came up with in his rants/promos. He's going crazy then all of a sudden: CONFETTI! LOL!!!

  • @WestHollywoodWarrior savage was never a big man..he used to come to my gym in the late 1980s . him and his brother were lazy they didnt train hard like the rest of the wrestlers did in the gym.

  • 3:47 haha I love it He could have done anything but chose Pile Driver :-)

  • What's the name ot that song CWA and then USWA used before going to a break?.

    It's at 2:09.

  • I'm speachless

  • At this point, Psycho Man would have been a better nickname!

  • does anyone know if the memphis monday night memories song is on youtube? thanks.

  • The Pink Panther never stood a chance!

  • Awesome....looks like he had PCP psychosis.

  • PCP would bring him down from his state on here

  • Savage was and still is the original "PEOPLES ELBOW!"

  • 1983? I thought Randy Savage was on TV in 1980

  • macho man wants skins! lmao

  • Before there were NWO takeovers... before there were DX ambushes... there was 'The Madness' of Randy 'Macho Man' Savage!! Can you dig it?? Ooooh Yeahhh!!

  • I believe that man is on PCP

  • Wow he hasn't changed that much.

  • A Legend Is Born

  • Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. The beginning of a stellar career for the "Macho Man".

  • haha. 2:25 - CONFETTI!!!!!! Randy Savage > Hogan.

  • Savage was 100% better than Hogan on every level.

  • This is epic. Savage always seemed on the brink, in these early days he was thrilling to watch.

  • I totally agree. Koko was a decent guy, never a huge draw or money maker and truly his time in the sun was from about 1987-1989 with his career winding down in 1990-91. With that said, Koko had 3 GOOD years in the WWE. However, I am starting to see a pattern with the HOF, Vince (or whoever is making these decisions) are going with the "favorites" card. Because if it were based on TRUE talent, Arn & Tully, The Road Warriors & Freedbirds would have been it in by now!

  • I loved the way Lance Russell stayed in character the whole time. Russell NEEDS to be in the WWE HOF no matter what anyone says. If it's a real HOF stop inducting clowns like Koko B Ware, Pete Rose & William Perry and induct REAL legends like Lance. Can someone start a petition???

  • i was just thinking the other day about how the fact that Koko is in the HOF pretty much guarantees that everyone you see today will be there one day. it used to be super exclusive but now it's "well he has to be in it if Koko's in it". Taker, HBK, HHH, Jericho, Edge, Cena, Batista, Kane are all locks for the HOF, but now people who you think may not make it will have to if guys like Koko are in it. Koko was good, but in no way an HOF'er in my opinion.

  • History Beckons the Macho Man! The birth of a Legend

  • Now I know where Brother Devon got his idea for his wrestling costume.

  • I'm a big Mach Man fan! But then I have to admit that he's always been crazy!

  • thats the great part about him!...hes crazy!

  • Savage is Timeless!

  • LOL Savage cut a better promo back in 1983 than most wrestlers are doing now and its 2009! LOL

  • i think you mean ALL wrestlers are doing now

  • soooo true!!! oooooooo yeahhhhhh

  • Dude macho was nuts, he plays a big role in wrestling history

  • Yes, Dewayne 3635, Randy was in the area prior to 1983. I went to college in Nashville from 1974-1978 and watched the Gulas shows on a regular basis. Savage came in in 1977-1978 and feuded with Dutch Mantell. Angelo and Lanny worked together as a father and son tag team, but the relationship with Savage was not acknowledged at the time.

  • This is an excellent video but I seem to remember him being on tv before 1983. seems like he came to Huntsville, Alabama and saw him in the very late 1970's

  • Google ICW Poffo Universe

It will bring you to the ICW Poffo website I've compiled to chronicle The Poffo's independent wrestling promotion which ran in the mid south from 1979- 1985 .

Tons of ads for house shows ( over 700 on the site) . Pictures of the Macho Man from high school; match listings for early Lanny and Randy bouts from Phil Goldens All Star Wrestling from 1973.Pictures of Randy's great wardrobe. This is the most comprehensive site dedicated to the Poffo's ... so enjoy !!!

  • I would love to see this website. I grew up in Memphis and we would get the ICW feed and I used to check them out. Plus, when Gulas split from Jarrett, we would on occasion get their shows from Nashville and Chattanooga and I remember Savage feuding with Bobby Eaton and Dutch Mantell who was known then as Chris Gallagher.

  • oh YEEAAAH..the macho man randy savage oh YEEAAH

  • You boys got it RIGHT! Nobody has or had a better finisher than Randy Macho Man Savage.....DIG IT!!!

  • when did jesus start raslin????

  • i thought it was charles manson
