  • As a 10 yr old kid when this song came out I always pictured a "Ceylon Warrior" from Battlestar Galactica making the announcements during this song :0 }

  • Let's just say I've been learning about Russia from 1881-1953 in History so this song may have cropped up 1 or 200000000000000 times :L <3 it sooooooooo much! :D

  • The 70's were a disco/dance/rock party full of drugs, booze, fun, and humor! Happy times!

  • My mother owned a copy of the LP of this song.. As a kid this song used to scare me to death would run from the room when it was played... It was years later when my dad told me that I was my middle name Nickolas was in honor of Czar Nickolas II who's wife is referenced in "Rasputin" so I have come to really like it now as an adult.. Go figure..

  • copied link ;)

  • system of a down should do this song!!!

  • Love it! I had the original tape in Pakistan, but had to buy it after a long wait when it became available on iTunes... I even learned to play Rasputin on my Casio keyboards. Didn't know the gent had died. RIP. Great fun, great music even 33 years later. Thank you.

  • cute beautiful black womem mmmmmmmmmm

  • I was a teenager in the 1970's and I remember Boney M, they had many hit songs back then. They were very famous in Germany and UK. They took a trip to the Soviet Union in 1977 or 1978 and the "Soviets" had entered musically into the 1970's with the help of Boney M (lol). I liked them 30+ years ago, I still like them now. Talent like this we don't see it nowdays.

  • I doubt that there is anyone in Europe in age between 35-50 who does not have story like that. We all were bite by Boney M bug! It was great time!! I was 12, my parents we playing that music on all parties (and Queen, Sweet, Slade etc)! I would give anything to get back at least for while...

  • @pralinka76 I was born in 1985 but my parents loved all that music and so do I. I wish I could go back and experience it in its heyday too!!!

  • this is the shizna oh ya

  • if you dont like boney m your a loser thats all i can say

  • this song was getting tons of air play on Canadian radio when we drove to see the Feb 26, 1979 total eclipse of the sun in Winnipeg Manitoba.

  • Im 36 and I remember finding the Boney M record and listening to it. Just love this song, its catchy.....

  • Im 36 and I remember listening to my parent's record of Boney M. I thought the record cover was so cool too and the drums are awesome in this son. I still love it

  • I was 13 years old when a friend of mine showed me this record! I remember listening to it on his awesome stereo at the time the drums and effects are so cool its still a classic. Now I'm 41 and it still gives me chills listening to it and Ra Ra Rasputin!!!

  • Great 2 tracks, especially that drumming! Still have my original Album on vinyl.

  • Very good song, extract to "Cozy Powell-Dance With The Devil"

  • you know that you are old school fans of Boney M when you remember listening to it when you were younger.. I know i did when i was a kid

  • @airwolf22222

Hehe, I guess I'm old school too, because I remember when this came out in 1978. Still have the LP. Awesome!

  • When i was 15 i was the winner of Boney M's Dance competition lol!

    Rest in Peace Bob!

  • Oh, and the voice for the spaceship conductor on the album?

If it sounds familiar, the album was produced the VERY SAME MONTH that the pilot to the original Battlestar Galactica series came out. It appears that the very same kind of synthesizer modified voice was independantly come up with by Boney M and the producers of Galactica. Spooky!

  • This song is incredibly cool...particularly at the start where the drums "rev up to speed"

  • muy pero ke muyyyy bueno

  • OMG I haven't heard this since I was a kid... Had the album, very cool blast from the past...

  • LO mejor de-los 70-80 fue una gran época ser feliz...¡¡

  • R.I.P. Bobby Farrell

  • awesome! RIP Bobby.

  • RIP Bobby Farrell

  • Excellent video.... the drum beats at the start are such a rush!

  • @TheSkywalker2705 I remember as kids we'd all try and tap this beat on our desks or on school bus seats...

  • cool, I wanted to see them united, as in their album

  • wow, i always loved this song so much, this is the first time i ever saw this vid. very excellent.

  • When this first came out,i had a pinto with mindblower speakers and this sounded so damn good, everytime i listen to it now it has to be loud or not at all lol

  • was brought up on this and thought the funkiest Cyclons lived in the speakers of Dad's speakers

  • 2000 miles per second ? ya right!

  • @danielhall65 2183mps!

  • Thanks this is great. my dad had this on the LP when I was a kid. We listened to it all the time and it sounds great on a good system. Dad is gone now so memories like these are all that is left. Again thanks.

  • @widowson32 Wow, same story here. We used to dance around the living room in circles, Dad would hold my sister on his sholders... one of my greatest memories of him.

  • Disco sux.

  • Thanks so much for putting this up. It isn't complete, though: the NFtV part is missing the 2nd half where a UFO has a near miss and the starship Boney M arrives at Venus. Great anyway.

  • I kook Doodle-doooooo !!!

  • It reminds me of my nightclubbin days!!

  • The demands to do something about this outrageous man became louder and LOUDER!!

  • Shiiiiit!! Night flight to Venus!! Coming with me? LOL!!

  • Rasputin, lover of the russian queen

  • drums are amazing

  • @SebTorMk agreed, the way the beats layer over each other and prefigure Rasputin and fantastic, at least 10 years ahead of its time

  • @ClydeRowing cool

  • It was huge in its day..........guess i'm showing my age!!!!Not bad for a group made up of 1 singer,2 models,a dancer and a producer who did it all!!!!

  • I was a 14 year old kid living in Bolivia when I heard this fantastic song. It sure sounded ahead of its time...ohhh...those were the days...lol.

  • I was a 14 year old kid living in Bolivia when I heard this fantastic song. It sure sounded ahead of its time...ohhh...those were the days...lol.

  • Sounds more like a cheap copy of Dance with the devil form Cozy Powell than a Frank Farian song.....

  • @heini1911 which is exactly what it is!

  • Guitar riff sounds amazing

  • Ooh- those Russians!

  • Fantastic vocoder sound!!!

  • Actually, that's a "flanger" sound.

    Mic-->Fuzzbox-->flanger-->reverb

  • @rjskoko Nope - it's a vocoder. It's encoding the output carrier with the band data from the modulator. Fuzz/Flanger/Reverb won't sound like that. It may have Flanger on it, but it's a vocoder.

  • @cvesseytoo It's either the EMS 1000 or 2000!!!

  • @perez12zioom EMS 1000 or 2000!!!

  • My dad tells me this was a crowd favourite at any bush party he's been too, with endless chanting and dancing 'round a bonfire.

  • Oh man, awesome! Loved this then, love it now.

  • Best song Evar! :)

  • Farian ripped so many bands off

  • ....deadly....sounds wicked on good home stereo....

  • @Darnsmell Oh m,y god i totally agree.Back in the day i used to listen to this full blast with mind blower speakers in the back of my car.Still to this day i have to listen to it LOUD or i feel like im in church .RIP Bobby

  • @Darnsmell Oh you got that right ;) I've been crankin' this LP since I got it off my aunt a few days ago

  • 2009 and we are still saying "oh those Russians" LOL ... ;-)

  • Got the original LP when it came out! Love "Nightflight To Venus / Rasputin" ... "Oh, those Russians!" LOL

  • @jak855 Nothing like listening to this on vinyl, that's for sure.

  • sweet

  • I have the original "Nightflight to Venus", will try to transfer to mp3

  • is anybody has this version in mp3?

  • For a crap group this is a brilliant tune, a bit like progressive rock mixed with Cozy Powel.

    The Main singer was ok.

  • The full version of "Nightflight"/"Rasputin" is around 14 minutes long, and only available on the 1st LP pressing. "Nightflight" got a LOT cut out of it on the CD version.

I guess I can see their point... it's just basically an intro to the album, but it was originally 8 minutes long.

  • Check out Cozy Powell doing Dance with with the Devil.

Sounds very similar to Nightflight to Venus don't you think ?

  • Yep. Boney M took the drums from "Dance With The Devil" (though I think Nightflight's rendition sounds cooler), and Right Said Fred took the melody for "I'm Too Sexy".

  • not just the drums guitar as well, if you look up the rasputin 12" mix it's the same as this without the vocal and keyboard on nightflight to venus

  • There was a legal action, at the time, over it.

I believe it was settled, out of court, in Cozy Powell's favour.

  • superb

  • Wonderful youth memories!!!

  • Ah yes :)

  • Real music for real people
