  • I wanna go there......

  • Madrid is boring? Ignorantes todos...

  • I'm from Boston and have been to several European cities. Although I can see why they say it's America's most European city...it's still very much an American city.

  • I lived in Boston and Cambridge for five years, and loved it! Thanks for taking me back.

  • Born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA :)

  • Boston is okay. I wouldnt go so far as to compare it with any major European City though. Great Art Museum and very walkable and good for people like me who live out in the sticks in new england where it sucks. New Hampshire fucking sucks.

  • I <3 Boston

  • this is such a nice video of where I'm from and it's far from boring PoppingSanta

  • BOSTON!

  • Bläääh, too European, looks so boring.

  • @PoppingSanta OMG i can tell you have never been to a european city. how can you say "european" is boring?!

  • @Legendaric1

I live in a European city. It's called Stockholm.

  • @PoppingSanta than how can you say that a city is "to european`' thats really dum. Im sorry

the fact that you live in sweden makes it even more stupid. let me give you a few examples of a few european city's: barcelona, amsterdam, berlin, rome prague and many many more. really nothing "boring" about that.

  • @Legendaric1

    Your spelling is really dumB.

Why am I not surprised that an American tells me what is European and what isn't. Barcelona and Berlin are not even close to being the same. The cities in Europe are all very varied.

And what about living in Sweden makes it more stupid?

  • I am not saying that barcelona and berlin are the same, I'm just saying that these are beautifull EUROPEAN city's and that they are not BORING. And to anwser your question: living in sweden means that you have to KNOW that these city's are beautifull and not boring because you are fucking close to these citys. i would have forgiven you this if you were an `'ignorant american`' who knows nothing about the world. so next time, look closer to what i'm saying instead of correcting my spelling.

  • @Legendaric1

Ho ho ho damn, you ain't that smart are "ya"?

For me, it's boring. Maybe not for you, since you might live in cities that are more North American, but for me they are.

  • I know that everybody has an opinion about everything, But i haven't spoken to anyone who thinks that european city's are boring. Im not sure HOW you can say that and i think a lot of people will have the same question. BTW im not USED to north american city's. i have lived in the netherlands and i have seen a lot of europe. calling it boring is the most stupid thing i have ever heard and that is MY OPINION. unless you do nothing while you are there but lets just finish this discussion......

  • 1.Boston 2.NYC

  • very well done.

  • boston, spent 3 months there, what a boring city it was. i can see why they have such an inferiority complex about ny.

  • I started to cry. Moving to the East coast means so much to me... I'm from California. A girl who's been my friend and crush for a large portion of my life is moving to NY to attend NYC...

I feel like the Great Gatsby... compelled to move East to be with her.

  • i like the style of the architecture...very british thou with red bricks...) have to viist sometime

  • JAN. 31, 2007

  • nice video :) i love boston was ther a month ago :)

  • i love boston was ther a month ago :) nice video by the way :)

  • America's best cities:

    1. BOSTON

    2. New York

    3. San Francisco

    4. Chicago

    5. Philadelphia

  • @BostonEm America's only great city is New York. You might want to explore the rest of the planet while you're at it.

  • kinda reminds me of netherlands with all the rivers and the houses next to each other and the statues

  • in all honesty.. what other city in all of America is as beautiful as Boston ? As much as I love San Francisco it cant match Boston.. you did a great job showing the city here and your choice of music was very nice and classy ( as the city it scored here )

  • I heard that boston's full of Celts

  • looks really nice, my granfather used to live there when he was young, came back to Europe though ;)

  • very pretty this time of year. like to take walks form riverway jp all way to fenway park

  • I wish as much of Old City Philadelphia was saved as Boston's was. The parts that are are beautiful and the city is larger but a large section of the buildings of architectural significance were surrendered to the ghetto. On Broad Street which is the main thoroughfare in the city the street is lined with old big victorian and colonial houses and large buildings that were once beautiful but are now in disrepair. It's depressing. The closer you get to Center City the nicer it gets though.

  • Very nice, soothing to watch!

  • it's exactly like being in england

  • It reminds me a lot of Europe

  • @dreamonlittledreamer Actually it is. Even the accent is the most similar to UK English I've ever heard in the US.

  • Boston....ah yes !

  • I live in Boston :), Boston in England that is :L not as nice as this place in all honesty

  • thanks wntoply6 for ansewring my question. I am from Portugal and i would love to study in boston.

  • thanks again for posting this.....living in the UK now but my heart of course is home in Boston where I was born and lived for many many years.

  • that's so pretty! thank you for uploading. all we ever see of American towns is skyscrapers or little 'redniecksville' places.

  • yes, when I went to London for the first time AFTER visiting Boston, I thought to myself "this looks a lot like London"

  • love it. boston chicago san fran.

  • boston is in my heart- but obviously there were other usa cities founded+set up+arranged+functioned by european colonists also.maybe only thing that sets central boston apart is the very londony skinny winding streets [well not backbay].meaning if you take central philadelphia's straight grid streets and squiggle them all up, youd have another mini-london in the usa besides boston. and how about baltimore?neworleans?etc

  • I am from Boston. Many parts of the city look just like London.

  • hi, can you tell me how is the lifestyle in Boston?

    please

  • The lifestyle in boston is second to non in my opinion (although i do live there and am generally very bias towards boston). Very energectic, lively city with deep rooted tradition. Boston will more then likely open up so many opportunities many people dont have..

  • peggy, what specifically do you mean? boston is full of culture, the arts, sports, education, music & a city alive with history, right out of text books.

it is charming & easy to get around. one can literally walk from one end to the other in a couple of hours, but still you would only see a fraction of it's charm.

the winters can be cold (today it's around 0 degrees) but the springs...ahhhh the springs are a joy from the gods. our summers are not to be missed.

hope this helps just a bit.

  • boston..the culture is hard to explain. I moved away, my family was there since the landing of plimouth rock. There are the bramins (wealthy speaking) and the regular blue collar folk. there is a irish/italian community. The best food, the community, the looking out for each other. I was raised old fashioned and proper. Most of us were. The history is nothing you would get out of a text book. The start of our USA was there. Boston yer my home! :)

  • @theatheistgal After 400 years of family history you guys still can't spell Plymouth? LOL

  • @toolover10 actually if you look at history that is the original spelling. It was changed later on. go look it up! I choose to use the original spelling.

  • @theatheistgal I was sort of joking around with you anyways. That is very interesting though. Thanks for the tip!

  • @toolover10 Original spelling was Plimouth.

  • htuomnom, what a vile and untrue comment......Boston happens to be the best city in the US, San Francisco the second.

  • I agree, but on what basis?

  • @granger18trains false!! that would be new york !

  • @granger18trains You're right.

  • @granger18trains Boston, Seattle, Honolulu, and San Francisco in my opinion.

  • two questions htuomnom...

    1st, how old are you?

    2nd, where are you from?

this will go a long way as to whether one should take you seriously or chalk your comments up to ignorance, jealousy and pure hate that probably pervades every aspect of your life.

    i pitty you!

  • I loved watching this video, I am from Boston and you captured it's true beauty. Thie pictures of the Redline, lighthouses and the snow....Ohhh my beautiful city!

  • Theres a video of mine coming soon to Youtube. Its a recording of Bostonians on a Saturday night from all different walks of life giving their views and party pieces on camera.

It was recorded on Oct 2001. If people subscribe you will see it when i have it posted. Believe me! its well worth the watch and its never been seen by the public

  • San Francisco is the second best city in the US. I do love it there too, but Boston is my favorite

  • Id have to say San Fran tops it for me. Its the weather that does it.

  • Boston .... best city anywhere !

  • I miss a lot this gorgeous, cozy, cultural, beatuful town! I lived there for four years while attending college and working. Now I live in São Paulo - Brazil, a city that feels more like NYC. Boston I miss you a lot, even going thought tough times, prejudice against international students actually do bug you after some time. But I hope to get back for a visit together with all my college buds from Brazil!!

  • I suppose I'm a bit biased being from Boston but I think Boston is the nicest city in the country followed by San Francisco

  • hell yes

  • When you are a native you take for granted -- you forget how gorgeous Boston is.

  • thanks.. yes i remember now...glad for your post to remind me ! lovely music for a lovely video !

  • Yes, its from Porgy and Bess,,,,,,but I suppose if you ever fished in Boston, it;s Porgy and Bass............

  • does anyone know what the music is by any chance ?

  • living in the UK for the past 5+ years....this is so very nice...makes me homesick though !

  • Nice job with the video ... great music selection too. What other American City even comes close to the beauty of Boston ? NONE. Its also a very classy city . I love , love, love, Boston

  • Gay people dwell in Boston especially at night!! yyyeeaaaahhhh

  • Boston is the most progressive city, in the most progressive state , in the most progressive area in the country. And we Bostonians LOVE it and we are VERY proud of our politics and our gays ;-) lol

  • FUCK YEA!!!! (im not gay)

  • That's not what your boyfriend told me...

  • Tell that to San Fransisco...

  • There are 3 cities where Europe meets America (as continent). 1)Montreal , 2) Boston and 3) Buenos Aires. Watch "Buenos Aires tango slideshow" here in Youtube and you'll see why this city is known as "Paris in America".

  • i haaaaateeee living in boston. its so boring :( i want to live in LA :D

  • Me its the contrary...Im European cant stand living in LA and moving to Boston by the end of the year.

    Pollution crime ugliness...Hate LA

  • well i'm not sure what u expect here in boston my european friend. its mostly small brick buildings, seafood, and everybody caring too much about sports.

  • I miss it really. I moved 3100 miles away. I grew up with all of this. The culture is very different from the west coast. Ever since moving away from boston I have felt displaced. It is much better than LA in my opinion. Boston is a wonderful place to live.

  • this is logan airport - paging halofighter24, next flight leaving for LA in approximately 1 hour, please board the plane and don't come back!

  • thank u for the free flight! i love u! byeeeeee :DDDDD XD

  • lol! boston loves you! LA is full of phonies, boston keeps it real!.

  • this is where the 3 stupidist questions ive ever heard were asked

  • I'm proud to live in Boston and even happier that the city resembles European cities. I plan on studying in European when I go off to college but Boston will always have a warm place in my heart. :D

  • I don't know why people say that Boston belongs to Europe or that it is a piece of Europe in America. Obviously Boston is old enough to resemble those older cities in Europe, but its charm is entirely American.

Mind the fact that America is not the Midwest. The Midwest is as much a part of America as New England is. Not less, not more. So I don't see why New England should be considered less American or more European. It simply has a quaint feeling that the rest of the country doesn't have.

  • It looks a lot like a European city. which is a good thing. A lot of European cities are really clean. Not like the piece of shit city I live in Phoenix. I want to move to Boston once I get good money or Portland, Maine anywhere in New England. To me it's the most beautfiul part of the United States.

  • But there are cleaner cities than Boston in North America, not necessarily being more European-looking. I agree in that, being an old city, Boston does resemble does capitals in the Old Continent, but that doesn't mean that it is less American than Minneapolis or Austin ;)

  • I merely said that as a joke. in a previous comment. I was born and raised there. It was suppose to be funny. But I didnt get that across very well.

  • Oopsie, I apologize. It is entirely my fault, actually. I was a little, how can I put it, predisposed to debate as I was reading the comments on this video. Sorry!!!! :$

  • I MISS HOME, the streets, the subway, the common, Harvard sq, medford sq..:(

  • I miss home. :(

  • Boston is a magnificent city and my home. It is by far one of the nicest cities in america.

We have our own distinct culture. And the reason for our similarities to europe is... Europe is old. Boston was formed in the early 1600's, it's old too. So naturally, they'd look similar.

  • Boson has in a lot of instances been compared to London England. In fact the 2 cities are very much alike. Alot of ppl say that it is the closest you can get to London, without actually going there...

  • Shut up, Go argue on the phone.

    Not on youtube.

    Its easier.

  • my pusssy is wet N

  • hey my computer has a wcam on it ne1 want to help me chat K

  • I'm going to Boston on a class trip next week. I'm so excited!

  • well corocco1, i'd love to get your impression of boston. and where are you from? hope you liked it.

  • im from southwestern connecticut, so its not a big difference, but I liked the historical presence throughout the city, the liberalism, and the intellectual feel

  • well being from southwestern connecticut, you come from another very, very beautiful part of new england (sans the congestion of being close to NYC...another real jewel of america). the small suburban towns in your area are nothing but charming. you're fortunate to live there too!

we are all blessed to live here, and i personally hope you come visit boston as often as you can. our arms are open and anxious to welcome you here again.

    peace my fellow new englander!

  • Great video and music, indeed...

  • Why would this video make you "proud to be English"?

  • Great video and useful for a visiting tourist

  • This is ridiculous. America really needs to let bygones be bygones and come home to the Commonwealth.

  • Come home to the common wealth? I'd rather go to hell.

  • As you wish, mhesi. You might also consider returning to the hellhole of your ancestors who spawned you. But, that would probably be the same as your going to hell. Good idea on your part. It's "Commonwealth", not common wealth, mong.

  • I might consider it, but that hellhole would be Britain, so I'd have to decline. And had your ancestors treated mine with dignity and respect, we might have still been part of the Commonwealth.

  • You don't sound British to me, nor like someone who has British antecedents, given that you call GB "that hellhole". Where are your ancestors from? Originally, that is? Not that it really matters.

  • Sorry if you can't pick up my ancestral British accent in my typed post. Goes with the territory, I guess. Originally? I'd have to say the plains of East Africa.

  • It just dawned on me that you would prefer Sharia. Silly me.

  • What in anything I have said or posted indicates that I would prefer Sharia? And why are you so hatefully obsessed with Islam? I would agree that in many ways Islam is archaic, but there are over a billion Muslims on the planet. You're going to have to deal with that. The last thing we need is for people like you to spread discontent and create an even bigger rift than there already is between the west and Islam.

  • mhesi, I don't need to raise a finger to "spread discontent and create an even bigger rift" because Izlam is doing it all by itself. Incidentally, there are over two billion Christians on the planet, 1.5 billion of which are Catholic. And you, mhesi, "will have to deal with that".

  • I'm catholic, so I shouldn't have too hard a time dealing with it.

  • You don't sound British and you don't sound Catholic. I'm both. Incidentally, "Catholic" is spellt with an upper-case "C" for your future reference.

  • Great vid. Absolutely first-class. Thanks for posting!

  • One of the best meals I've ever eaten was at Giacomo's Ristorante, in the North End.

Butternut squash ravioli & a bottle of d'Abruzzo with dessert. Perfect food. Perfect company. Perfect night. Perfect trip. I'll never forget it :-)

  • Constable! I just added this vid to my list of favourites. I've run into friends on the streets of Boston, but only rarely on YT. There are indeed some excellent Italian restaurants in Boston. Cheers!

  • I guess even YouTube is a "small world".

  • I love Boston very very much! My favorite city in the USA! I really love this video not just because this it's my favorite city in the US but also because it reminds me a lot of Europe and it makes think alot about Italy (where i'm from) and also about UK and France :-). Any way...thank you for this awesome video and also good taste of music!

  • This is a really beautiful portrayal of Boston.

  • hi.cromespyder.i have been through new england from new york to canada holiaying in boston new hampshire vermont buffalo.and into onterio,it was just magic.people citys awesome. i live 20 miles from cardiff south wales.a town called pontypridd. the most famous person to come from here is tom jones .the video of boston is fantastic..toptennor

  • i love boston so much, i couldn't imagine living anywhere else

  • STUNNING!!!!! Beautiful beautiful city.

  • to me this is the city to beat all cities.

  • you are from the uk right? you think boston is better than london? ive never been to london so i can't judge but london seems very very popular so i couldn't see how..

  • yes i am from the uk,wales as a matter of fact believe me i have been to london several times but only twice to boston in 2001 and 2006.believe me its better than london.the people were nicer, with less crime.are you from the usa.

  • thx for your reply toptennor. yeah im from boston. even though im not well traveled, i know no other place in the world could hold such a deep place in my heart. the charm, people, history, culture, architecture, seasons. it's just perfect for me. but im suprised though that anyone from the uk would prefer boston to london, which is considered one of the top world class cities from what i know.

  • btw, what brought your to boston? are there any other places you like in USA?

  • Thankyou for this excellent video, which I really enjoyed. I am a European who spent two wanderfull years, studing in Boston. Your video brought many rememberances to my mind. It actually reflects everything in Boston. Nothing is missing, including my favourite place... Quincy Market. I love the music.

  • gatsby, im glad you liked boston. but you, as a european feel boston is a european-like city? btw, did you like downtown crossing? not many walking streets like that in US cities.also, where did you study? take care.

  • I believe this is one of the very best video tours of our beautiful city ;-)

  • also, alot of this is cambridge isnt it? harvard..same thing as boston i guess.

  • Boston and Cambridge are separated by the Charles River.

  • take the redline over to cambridge

  • Yes, I shall! Parts of Boston look like south London.

  • Well of course. We were once Part of England. So we would look the same. I am sure history had taught you before we were America. If you look closely at landmarks you will see phrases like, "Mother England" or "to the King"

  • And that's why, dear theatheistgal, America needs to come home to the Commonwealth!

  • We are Middlesex county, The commonwealth of MA. If you really want to dabble in history, technically England still ownes us.

  • The hell they do!

  • lol.. we are the USA and always be. the way that the war started and ended. There are historians that ponder this. Did we really get our freedom from England? It was more of a cute answer than a serious one :)

  • obviously no one got the joke.. look at the top floors of the fanuiel hall..anyway..lol

  • what is this music??i love it!

  • Lovely vid.

What music is this playing? Charming!

    Jeannemarie

  • Boston, even though I haven't been there yet, is probably my favorite American city. I love the accent, the architechture and the history. I would really like to visit it someday :)

  • hahaha!!!! You Are The Very 1st Person that I have EVAH heard of that loves our accent!! That's really funny cause most people HATE it!! :D

  • Wow - I'm FROM Boston and I hate the accent.

    Great city.

  • Yeah it's good but walk or take a cab. Driving in Boston is pure hell.

Newbury street or the North End are great places to eat. Charlestown,Cambridge & Southie are really nice but stay away from Dorchester! If nature's your thing try the blue hills just a few miles(we don't do kilometers)south of town. But watch out for rattlesnakes! That's right, rattlesnakes.

  • What's wrong with Dorchester if I may ask? Is it the bad area of town?

  • Sure is.

  • well helluvaguy, you should have seen the south end in the 60's and 70's. now, that was a bad area, but it now is one of the wealthiest parts of the city. jamaica plain is coming up in respect too. but dorchester, once full of crime is quickly changing. give it a few more years, and it will be hard to afford to live there too! btw some of the homes there, especially in wellesley square, are beautiful.

  • your forgot lynn, "lynn, lynn city of sin"..or at least that is what I grew up knowing.

  • lol, we usually "pak our kas in harvid yad"!

(park our cars in harvard yard)

  • lol, pak yah cah in havahd expect a tow. havahd yahd is a common...lol

  • @theatheistgal

you really gotta get a life theatheistgal. i worked in harvard sq for years. i know what the common is.

this is just an expression to demonstrate our accent.

not everyone needs to be reminded what havad yad is. and only the ignorant try to instruct everyone without having a clue as to the meaning of the statement.

    go away!

  • everyone says that. the cutlure in boston is nothing like the rest of the USA. we stick together. even if we are thosands of miles away.

  • lovely!

  • .. last year from jan to jul - au pair in Winthrop - .. wonderful town .. wonderful time.

Boston I miss you so much.

  • It looks like a little like London an Amsterdam i love New England it's like a piece of Europe in America

  • its the music that makes it seem so european.

  • the song is a great american song from porgy and bess, so how could it seem european. maybe the arrangement?

  • I looove boston. It's my favorite city. I live in New England it's the best.

  • I was there last month, a very nice city, love the seafood! But I still was more fond of NY...

  • I love Boston! NYC is betta but Boston is a great American city as well.

  • I love New England, especially Boston :-) Hope to visit this beautiful city again :D

  • Beautiful, I would say good comfortable urbanism, but why did the people allow to build these ugly skyscrapers there? It's a crime...

  • Funny you should say that. Boston is a sister-city to Kyoto.

  • very true statement. my grade school class use to pen to kyoto japan. when I was growing up
