This is a really great video. Where I live we have 20 miles of beach and just one Blokart (mine). I sure would like to get a race group started like you have. Hi Rob, Thanks for the comments, Yes it sure is a great sport, I will be competing in a 100K race this Saturday on a long stretch of beach here in New Zealand, can't wait. THe device you ask about is a Garmin fortrek 101 which is a small GPS with timing and speed display and countdown for starts, very handy, the camcleat is for my downhall the mainsheet cleat is mounted on the mast also very handy for beach racing.
