He's a far cry from egotistical and I'm sure he believes in "cycles", as his musical tastes and influences always change, just like a cycle. I'm sure he's not afraid in passing on now, especially since he's past mid-life now. He's accomplished a lot and I think he's at peace with himself now compared to the past.

I like the Chili Peppers since about the time of Freaky Styley. When John came in I was impressed and relieved they found a great replacement. But as time went on you could tell RHCP was not the place for him. As of now I rarely jam the Peppers and jam mostly his solo stuff at least a few days in the week. The music is pure talent and his intentions were to create great music on his terms and not just to create something to put cash in his pocket. Artist need to take note and follow this man.
