I saw the movie because I am from Hatteras Island, and I was even not happy about what I saw. Something just didn't click with the movie. A few nice shots of home for me that was about it.

I have to say the movie was very bad. The book I haven't read but I'd like to, since I'm sure Nicholas wrote a fantastic book, but they butchered the movie all the way. Maybe next time find someone more attractive than Richard.

Gosh, what a movie? I'm still crying. It was so sweet & yet so heart-breaking all at the same time. The ending with the wild ponies was so powerful. Richard and Diane were brilliant in the lead roles. God I love those two! Also very credible were Scott Glenn & the actresses who played Jean & Amanda. I was disappointed that Gavin Rossdales "Love remains the same" didnt play at the end credits. But Emmylou Harris's "Nights in rodanthe" made up for that. Never has a song affected me so.

I love the sense of humor shown by Richard & Diane too. Excuse the 1st name basis....I just feel like I know them both from all their wonderful films I will always be star atruck by Richard Gere. I should know better....I'm 83 yrs old He makes me feel like I'm back in my teen years !
