What I don't get is why didn't the people who build MTS Centre shoot for at least 17,000 seats and a few more luxury suites so as to future proof it for the NHL team that's now coming home?
Was it not possible to do this? Seems a little shortsighted if it were possible but they chose not to do it.
Hmmm... wonder why do $60 tickets cost more than those who have a lower seat level in a wrestling event.... (f.e. section 2## has a higher price than those in sections 1##)
@hurly720..... "good look" on getting a team? Uh, don't you mean "luck"? Geez.... there should be an IQ test to qualify on posting here.
BTW all, I'm not at all against Winnipeg getting an NHL franchise, but it looks like a battle for this city. There is not a positive business environment to support such a payroll. Also, a Winnipeg Sun article a couple of months ago said rumours of expansion of the MTS Centre are false. It was not designed with expansion in mind.
There is no way Winnipeg will get an NHL team before either Hamilton or QC in Canada. This arena is way too small, it has half of the boxes an average NHL arena has which is very important to revenue stream. O btw how come in the AHL playoffs the Moose had such a poor attendance record...and you want an NHL team lol.
when the nhl comes to winnipeg there are plans already in place to renovate the mts centre from 15000 to 17000.
right now winnipeg is at the top of the list for a nhl team, even don is pitching in money to see a team go to winnipeg. theres a difference between AHL and NHL, honestly i talked to a pegger he said winnipeg like the moose but there no winnipeg jets. there are no bigger fans that are more passionate about hockey then winnipeg
Winnipeg will NEVER get another NHL franchise! They do everything ass backwards in this city. Go figure.... they had a 16,200 seat arena when they lost The Jets to Pheonix. Their answer.... build a 15,000 seat arena and try to land a failing U.S. team. Never happen!
actually, the mts centre has the same seating size as the winnipeg arena. the winnipeg arena was old, crumbling and had no room. have you ever been to the upper section of the winnipeg arena? its a incline of 60 degrees.the mts centre was built to replace the old arena, since they never saw the nhl coming back they built one suitable for a ahl team, now that the nhl is coming close to going back to the peg, talks are now in place to expand the upper bowl and put in more box seats
