  • Hi, I'm a film student and I'm in charge of doing the technical directing for a group film project and I have no idea how we do it? How do we know when to press the buttons? I need help so bad...

  • @Yunafantasies doesn't sound like you should be doing that...

  • David... the box was a 1-1 box showing the anchor on the left side and the live reporter on the right side. The box effect was a pain to set up on this specific switcher, as you had to manually route both sides of the box. It could be tricky to set up on the fly.

  • When the director called "Take Box" what was he telling you to do? Back in 1993 I was TD for Public Access T V (Century Cable) and we used a very basic Grass Valley Switcher, I have NEVERlost my love for TDing talk, variety, and concerts.

Thank you for this video I have relived my time a Technical Director.

  • this job is as hard as being a pilot!! hahaaa :))

  • I have one of those, but mine is a Echo Lab MVS6, good unit.

  • It kept you honest and on your toes, that's for sure! It forced you to keep up, and as long as you remembered your files and setup numbers, it wasn't too bad. Coupled with an ADO 500, I could do things with the Ampex that can't be done with our new Sony DVS-9000.

  • Ampex Century. The worst on-air mixer ever made. It was designed more for a post suite.

  • AMPEX switcher?

  • I think you left your super in a little late on the package..haha jk
