Damn the best part isn't in this video. I love how Superman flies at incredible speed towards the island and lands with a large thunderous boom, thinking he's the shit. Then he starts to realize something's wrong. I loved that part. Walked into Luthor's trap like an overconfident fool.
superman didnt fall off a cliff......he just backwards leap of faith'd into the water he'll be fine........right? if he dies i had nothing to do with it >-> <-< ^-^ of course i would never hurt him
So long, Superman I’ll light a candle for ya Say a prayer when California Falls into the sea L.A. I never knew ya Goodbye, good riddance to ya Go to hell and hallelujah You never meant much to me
I liked the last scene he leaves Lex Luthor trapped on the beach to die lol thats why they cant make any more movies because Lex Luthor is going to die and he was the greatest criminal mind of our time lol
Ohh....Kryptonite weakens Superman, but he can still fight like a human. But he didnt fight cuz he outnumbered and hes being dragged....Oh....common sense lol
@kouxiongpeterhawj No, with kryptonite, Superman can't fight like a human. Exposure to green Kryptonite radiation nullifies Superman's powers and immobilizes him with pain and nausea; prolonged exposure will eventually kill him.
The only thing I don't like about this scene is they make Superman COMPLETELY helpless. I would have liked for Superman to at least try to fight back during his beatdown, it would have been even more poweful.
@TheDalinkwent, What a mature response. I'm actually in film school and a fan of comic books, my point was he shouldn't have been ENTIRELY helpless. In some comics Superman still fights back despite being weakend by Kryptonight. BTW it's possible to make points without resorting to childish name calling.
@TheDalinkwent That wouldn't have made much sense, though. Yes, Superman has been known to fight back in the presence of Kryptonite, but here's he's on an island that's completely lined with the stuff. It's everywhere. There's no way Superman would be able to stand up to them. Maybe to Luthor, but have you seen his bodyguards? They're pretty buff. They'd kick his ass all over the island.
@Xylarxcode, What I meant is an ATTEMPT to fight back. For example, when they hold Superman up to punch him again, why not have Superman try to shove them off and throw a punch of his own only for them to catch his fist and further beat the crap out of him. Another point is later on in the movie Superman is able to lift this entire island despite the Krypotonite. So Superman can will himself to pick up the Krypto island, but he can't even ATTEMPT to fight back?
@TheDalinkwent Hm, I think the official statement on the fact that Superman was able to lift the island out of the ocean was because he put several layers of earth between him and the island, thereby maintaining his powers with no effect of the kryptonite. And you do make sense. Especially after dramatically yelling out: 'I'm still Superman!' an attempt to fight back would probably only have served to further prove his unwillingness to give up and add more drama to it.
@Xylarxcode, The "I'm still Superman" line is actually what made me think he should at least try to fight back. Superman is supposed to be about more then his powers, so seeing him completely usless when powerless just bothers me. I still like the scene, I was just nitpicking. BTW thanks for the mature response and nice rebuttal. The other guys couldn't help himself with the usual YouTube banter.
@TheDalinkwent Kryptonite doesn't just leave Superman powerless, it can actually immobilise him under extreme pain and eventually kill him after a prolonged exposure. Superman was too weak to fight and he was dying due to the kryptonite and the reason why he was in excruciating pain when Luthor stabbed him, wasn't because he was stabbed, it was because the kryptonite was in contact with his body.
You can hear him shout at 0:51 'Im still Superman!" When i realized that i nearly cried. Cause, here you have a person saving a race of people who dont give anything really back to him and hes so desperate still to save us. Yet they beat him anyways, pathetic. I can defiantly see the Jesus references in this.
The scene is f#@king awesome! Has anyone noticed that the best scenes in Superhero films are the ones where the heroes get the living crap knocked out of them: Spider-Man 1&3, this film and others. Am I alone in thinking that they should also do a Ben 10 episode where a villain knocks the sh#t out of him?
Come on! That's not fair! This isn't a fair fight. If this was based off of Chris Reeves' movies then Kevin should be more like Gene Hackmen a little bit. But I can understand why they changed his character.
Every time I see this, I laugh so damn hard. In the beginning he's like. "I'm back to save the world! Nobody can stop me!" and then that scene comes up later on.
It's like watching a moron get reality handed to him.
i love that scene long time :) also i think Tom welling who played clark kent/superman in Smallville should play superman in the rumoured "man of steel" would be cool :D
Man of Steel isn't a rumoured film. It's being made now. I can't remember the name of the actor who will be Superman but it's neither Tom Welling or Brandon Routh. There's a picture of him that was released not too long ago.
@dajman15 yeah, when i posted this i wasnt sure about the man of steel coming out. But now i know for sure. Superman will be played by Henry Cavill, a british actor surprisingly. But yeah, gotta wait till 2013 :/
I adore Spacey and was siding with his Lex, but when he stabbed Superman with that jagged piece of kryptonite, I could feel the tears in my eyes. I came so close to shouting "Love, stop, he's just a baby!!" but a peanut butter cup in my mouth stopped me, thank goodness.
As much as I like Kevin Spacey, and thought he was great in this, I felt like Lex Luthor was a bit overused at this point. I'm glad that for the next one, the villain is going to be Zod. I always thought he was kinda cool.
probably cos he saved her when Lex actually cut the brakes on her car. Plus, y'know it's pretty fucking brutal. Even if I was evil, I'd still want to help him out.
@Shanethefilmmaker Ah. Either way I still laughed when I heard this. Maybe because I couldn't believe they made Superman actually say something like that.
@Teejturtle To you it was funny and I got a good laugh out of it but to me I think it was awesome and would have fit into the dialouge had someone not be so stupid to cut the line before it out.
well if it happens that luthor plans succeded having a kryptonite island all the people that will live there will have disease due to kryptonite radiation through time :D

Why arn't they making another Superman movie with Brandon Routh? I LOVE this movie. It's my 'go-to' movie. I read a review which stated this movie was so bad, it could have very well "destroyed the Superman franchise and Brandon Routh's career." Now, THAT'S JUST NOT TRUE!
@grayspeak Agreed 100%, mate; I LOVE this movie. I am never bored watching it, something which a lot of people have said they were; I'm interested by the characters, hooked by the action and I always fall in love with the nostalgia of it all. It's just a wonderful movie, in my opinion. Not every superhero movie has to be dark and action-packed. Bryan Singer, the cast and crew did an amazing job. I love the first two Superman films and Returns; I honestly can't choose a favourite :-)
@grayspeak They wanted to, they even had a planned script with Brainiac. Starring the same cast and directed by Singer again, but WB stopped production when the movie only made 450 million instead of 500.
I wanted Superman(Brandon Routh) to go Evil Mode by Red Kryptonite, wearing his black Blur suit(from "Smallville") to have an angry revenge on Lex Luther(Kevin Spacey) and almost killed him.
