  • hey, I am turning 18 soon and I'm thinking about maybe saving up for a bike. How is it riding a sport bike? Is it uncomfortable to be bent over the tank and does it cause any back pain? (I have enough of that already lol). Also, I have a very strange body frame. I'm 6'5" and very skinny (only 165lbs), would it be difficult for me to find a bike/to ride one?

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx It can be a bit uncomfortable on long rides. You might want to look at a more upright bike like a Ninja 650 or an FZ6. Go sit on a bunch at dealers and see if you can find one that seems to fit you. There are so many to chose from it can be hard. If you look around you should find one that fits you though.

    Good luck!

  • @kryten @kryten I was actually just looking at those two bikes before I read your reply. I think I actually like the way the Ninja looks better. Do you know how good the the Kawasaki bikes actually are? I'm not really into motorcycles that much to know the pros and cons of different manufacturers of different models (...yet)

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx People I know who had a Ninja 650 loved it. The best way to find the right bike is to go sit on several and see what seems to feel like it fits you. There have been bikes that I thought I wanted and was ready to buy them after researching them online. Then when I actually sat on them they just didn't feel right, too tall, too short, too top heavy. It took me a while to find one that I felt was just right. I guess that's one lesson of Goldilocks. That and don't steal from bears.

  • @kryten lol, thanks man. When I turn 18 the first thing I am going to do is go and check out some different bikes and see which is best and save up some money for one.

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx skinny ass should get a 250cc

  • @PointlessComedy Why exactly? The 650 is only a parallel twin so it's not like it's going to do a back flip when I hit the gas. I'm not going to ride like a daredevil either (...well, at first at least xD), I have ridden a dirt bike before (although it was a 250) and I had no problem with it at all

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx I was just kidding around. no offense. but yeah 600 is a great beginners bike, add some weight

  • ZZR600? My dad has one. Great bike.

  • sometimes gravity is just a supermagnet. My only drop was in a gas station, barely moving, wet concrete with some gas residue mixed in, I just turned the bars a bit and touched the front brake.... the front wheel just slid out like it was greased and the bike went over.... all in a flash... it happened faster going down than I was moving forward... LOL

Embarassing event in front of my friends... but glad they were there to help right the bike quickly too.

  • You're very lucky that you went out with such contributing factors and had only a minor accident! I had been riding for some months when I had my first accident, which may well not have happened had I owned a bigger bike!

I was very unfortunate that my first accident involved another vehicle- an oncoming vehicle, infact, which slammed into my poor, precious motorbike.

Suffice to say I'm still pretty upset about it even today, since I'm still paying off my now unuseable motorbike!

  • u got lucky, my bike(250 ninja) fell to the side 'cuz i didnt put the rest right, and the clutch lever broke(this little ball broke off, still can use it tho) the pedal bended, (its kinda hard to use), the front signal light is totally fucked and the mirror got a bit more scratched, at the time I felt like hitting myself in the head over and over, got so pissed off by it .-.

well, I'm a newbie rider, shit happens, it wont be expensive to fix my bike, but it sure is a pain in the ass

  • i did the same thing with my 1st bike a cbr600f6 2007 i went to turn foot slipped and grabbed at the front brake i had crash bungs on so no damage but im sure 99% drop thier 1st bike ive been riding 4 years now and now own a 2009 zx6-r lime green ninja and ive not drooped a bike since my cbr600f6, my advice is if ya get into a turn you think is narrow and need to turn in a car park or a dead end get off the bike and walk it unless ya on the road.

  • Thanks for your quick reply,I love busa for its looks.I've seen enough crashes and accidents so I've decided not to drive fast at all.The purpose is riding accross the downtown at propably 30 mph and just listening the beast roar on the road.I just love the finish and the dynamics of the bike so much, since 2004 i'm in love this bike, finally the day has come where i can afford one.So for this kind of use and purpose do you think i can have this bike? How the road grip and stability of the bike ?

  • @KEVINSTER8287 A Busa for going 30mph through town?! You'll never take it out of first gear! If you're commuting you should probably get something lighter and easier to handle. If you have your heart set on a Busa get it but I've realized for practical reasons the look of the bike shouldn't really be considered. I got mine for looks and sometimes wish I got something more suited for my purposes.

  • Thank you so much for your inputs, planning to get a Hayabusa. What your take on the bike?

  • @KEVINSTER8287 Depends on what you want to do with it. I think Hayabusas are overkill for most things unless you're doing long trips and then there are lots of better bikes for trips. What kind of riding do you plan to do?

  • I'm currently driving a little yahama neos moped, my age doesn't allow me to drive a bike. But it's a great way to learn how to drive on two wheels. Crashing isn't really a problem, because it's an old really lightweight little machine worth not even 200 bucks. And you can get warned for crashing all you want, but nothing is a better learning experience than a real crash. As long as others aren't involved. I Crashed multiple times while searching for the boundries on cornering, braking etc.

  • Lol my first drop was the first ever drive. Same mistake using front brake and in familiar w clutch friction zone. Broke off half clutch lever tho and bent pedal lever. Ahhhh

  • if you want to turn around on a road make sure you look as far as you can what way your going and plus never slow down whilst your doing it.

  • I would had dropped my bike like 3 times already if it wasn't because the bike is fairly light , one time I saved it from a drop with a 200 pound passenger ! the passenger felt the bike falling over and he leaned away from the fall whcih helped , but would had been a bigger bike it would had been droped , I am learning something new almost every time I take it out for a ride and I do not regret learning on the 250 , 110 top speed and 0-60 mph in 6 seconds is enough to learn on !

  • This is an advice to all first time riders out there or riders with very little expirience , start out with a 250! you will outgrow it bla bla bla , yes, maybe , I know I have not and I am happy with mine , I would also recommend to buy something close to new , that way you don't have to worry about something not working right , breaks etc , when learning to ride the last thing you want to worry about is if your bike is in operating order, continues...

  • I dropped my Sportster after having it for a month, I was PLP and doing quick stops, put feet down on a incline, was preoccupied with foot positioning on peg on right side when the dreaded feeling of gravity took over. I knew it was coming and couldn't stop it at that time. I also had a full tank of gas when before was only riding with less than half. I could feel the difference from the beginning of the ride. Also probably used too much front brake.

  • im on an apple and it sucks!

  • I know it's obvious, but I often forget that people will purchase a literbike/superbike as their first EVER bike and this almost always ends in tears. I feel grateful that for financial reasons had to start small. My first bike was a CG125, later a NC30 and eventually 15 years and 10 bikes later ended up on a CBR1000. By the time I got there all I'd already learned from a lot of mistakes under much cheaper circumstances. Haven't had a mishap since my CBR900RR in 2000! Touch wood!

  • remember your gear will save your life one day so buy the right gear from the word go!

  • @MRSHAUN8 I can't agree more!! You got your body right from your birth in perfect shape. Keep it that way!!!!!

  • what amazes me is how many people are sold bike gear that is ill fitting or inappropriate, above all a bikers gear must fit and be comfortable and suitable for the type of bike. You really should try it on the bike or a similar one if yours isnt there. Boring info I know but kryten's glove thing is a typical example and he has a useful posting here !

  • omg i dropped my bike today^^

nearly the same mistake, u- turn on the hill and hit the front brake.

i tried to keep it up, but the bike is so heavy.

  • dont buy leather gloves u need cloth motorcycle gloves and u should have filled the take when u started to learn to ride and when u learn how to ride always wear your healment so u get used to it

  • Just a word of advice (been riding superbikes for about 19 years now) If any of your gear is annoying to you, change it. When I was a noob-racer the front brake on my bike had a rather "spongy" feel to it. I didn't think twice about riding anyway. But the frontend wasn't giving me feedback + the brakes weren't either. so ended up in the gravel. If the brakes would've had more feel, maybe I wouldn't have crashed then. Anyway, ever since then, if anything annoys me, I'm not riding till it's fixed.

  • @slobowitz Great advice. Thanks!

I've gone through several jackets, helmets and gloves so far and you're right. Good gear makes a big difference.

  • i dropped my bike a month after getting it while i was backing out of my driveway... i was more embarrassed than anything at the time, but realize now that if i had to choose when to drop it, i'd rather it be like that than on the highway or in town actually riding...

i got off lucky and have barely noticeable damage on my side mirror & tail end of the fender, the can got it the worst, but i fixed it with some high-heat paint (it's still the stock exhaust)... looks like new now...

  • sportbike not good making tight turns or u-turns, I aways just stop or slow down and turn with my feet down

  • thank you for posting this , im really nervous about starting to ride. this helps

    ,jon

  • @lynette1953 Take a motorcycle safety course. They'll teach you how to avoid the noob mistakes I made.

  • When in doubt pull the clutch in and use your feet and turn! glad your ok!

  • who clicked on this and wanted to actually see him drop it?

  • I think you should always wear your protective gear. Here's a tip for new gloves:

Nuke for 15 sec (just enough to make the leather sweat, then wash them with leather soap. This speeds up the break in time on new leather. I also wear them for two hours after washing and light drying to help them form to my hands.

Enjoy your ride, its a nice one.

  • yea always gotta watch out for that sand

  • blaming ur equipment... gloves couldn't have caused it because your throttle wasn't stuck.. center of gravity was thrown off when u put your feet down... it's a learning exp.. and u rode away from it

  • those blinkers that sticks out like a sore thumb, it saved your upper part of your fairings being scratched.. your lucky those blinkers helped it.. LOL!!!

now take those ugly ass blinkers off, get new better bar ends, buff the left fairings where you scratched it at, sand and paint your mirrors flat black or matte black..

    bike will look new!

  • when I dropped my bike, the mirror just snapped off. Fairings and gearbox have some scratches.

The reason I dropped mine was because I looked down, which threw off my balance and I pressed the front brake.

  • oh common man those damages aren't even worth a video there so small! I can tell your a new bike owner because you care sooo much about keeping it in perfect shape (not making fun on you at all, I used to be just like you). You WILL crash again I can guarantee you that. All bikers crash once in a while, for me it's about once or twice a year and usually they are like yours. You will eventually get over little dings and scratches...Remember - you bought the bike to have fun - HAVE FUN WITH IT!

  • it's a i-bike thumbs up if you remember from the video.

  • Nice vid, good info for new riders ,and remind the experienced. Anyone can drop a bike , its easy!

  • Yeah i think the gloves prob got ya big time. It happens, i would ride without gloves and then i put on some gloves one day and it felt totally differant. YOu just have to get use to the gloves and if they stick or not etc. Well glad you didnt get hurt n the bike was ok.

  • @shaqdaddy11 It feels a lot different. Now if I ride without gloves I feel naked.

  • @kryten did ya change your bike? did ya sell this one for a gixxer?

  • @shaqdaddy11 Yep. I sold the ZZR and was going to quit riding but the following spring when I saw tons of bikes on the road I missed it so when I found a good deal on a GSXR I bought it.

  • @kryten quit riding ah. Why if you dont mind me askin? Was it the ZZR that made you not wanna ride anymore? or just got bored with riding?

  • @shaqdaddy11 I crashed. It didn't really scare me out of riding. I have kids and was worried about what would happen to them if I was killed or seriously injured in another crash. I missed riding so much though that I just had to have another one.

  • @kryten Oh yeah you got to think twice if ya got kids. What was it your mistake or the other persons mistake that caused the crash? And was it serious enough? See im a noob on bikes, but it seems like all the riders iv talked to have crashed atleast once. That to me is not very encouraging.

  • I have a video of the crash if you look at some of my early videos. If you're never ridden and you don't want to be scared out of riding you might not want to watch it. The guy in front of me crashed and I was following too closely. I panicked and locked up the rear wheel. It was a noob mistake.

Take an MSF course and you'll learn to avoid mistakes like that. I learned the hard way. You'll probably drop or crash your bike at least once. Just go slow at first and it wont hurt so bad! :)

  • @kryten ill check out the videos. Yeah i plan on taking the MSF course soon. But my dad was a rider for 20 some years and he never crashed or droped his bike. Hes prob the only person i kno who never crashed lol.

  • You arent supposed to use your breaks at all when turning.

  • Using your front brake is not a mistake. even in a turn. Learn the bike more and you will be surprised. Keep wearing your gear too.

  • happens to everyone at some point, you could sand the scratches on the clutch leaver out maybe the mirrows too finish with a low grade paper peace

  • i have the exact same bike and a week ago i was practicing with cones for the test and i had to make a hard right at a very slow speed and the handlebars went all the way to the right and i hit the front break and dropped the bike too. like yours my bike didnt start up when i picked it up again because when the bike was dropped the carbs get flooded, to fix this you can either wait, or try starting it with the throttle all the way open this seemed to work for me. i also scratched the fairing

  • @areed1212 Yeah I tried waiting but then I got impatient and just twisted the throttle about halfway while I tried to start it and it fired right up. It sputtered a bit but after a minute it was fine.

Later I learned to use the back brake in slow turns like that. Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way.

  • very lucky, when i put my bike down, i did a turn signal, a mirror and a clutch lever

  • I was lucky that I learned to ride on a mini-bike when I was about 5. Then SL 70 for about 6 years, GS 550, CB 900 Custom, GL 1200 Goldwing, GL 1500 Goldwing SE. Gloves, full gas tank, sand, etc. none of that has anything to do with wrecking a motorcycle. U have to be prepared for ALL these situations, plus many others, rain, deer, idiots in cars and on motorcycles, etc. We wrecked all the time as kids, thats how we learned. One small lapse in concentration can hurt u and your bike.

  • never speed on a street that your not familiar with, everyone knows that

  • same thing happened to me.. well kinda..

wanted to turn around in a driveway and i didnt pay attention to the angle of the hill or my speed... or anything else other than the place i was looking for. (your mind races when youre trying to find a chicks house lol)

but i ended up gently dropping it on the left side. the attatched helmet took most of the damage and so did my right leg from the footpeg (i still have a bloodclot in my calf right now from that day)

    live and learn i guess

  • I buy and sell bike every year for 8 years until this year summer, I just bought a Ninja zz600 just like yours and still holding on to it. Wohooo!

  • Yeah I remember my first drop I learned alot from it and I never dropped again. Slow down before a turn with the front brakes then accelerate through curve never fails. Suzuki SV rules.

  • how much will it cost you to get that fix?

  • @her87nsxr This happened 2 years ago. I've already sold the bike and got another one. The only damage was the fairings, the turn signals and a few scratches on the engine case. I replaced the fairings and put flush mounted turn signals on it. It only cost about $600. My insurance deductible was $500 so I just paid for it myself so my insurance rate wouldn't go up.

  • Wait thats a ZZ600 ? its a 600cc? omfg i was thinking it was a kawasaki ninja 250r =(

  • You got lucky with the damage man, Im still learning how to ride and tight turns are my biggest fear besides hills and stopping on hills and parking on hills... Thanks for uploadin the video and givin some insight to people.

  • Hey i got another question sorry... well =D i hear that shifting gears in a sport bike is different so how do u shift gears in this motor bike?

  • @DOPOPI Shifting gears on a sport bike is no different than shifting gears on most other bikes.

  • @kryten Well can u tell me if the shifting its the same in the kawasaki vulcan900cc.

  • @DOPOPI Its one down and five up like most other bikes.

  • @DOPOPI This is mostly accurate. My bike shifts 1 up 5 down.

  • Nice video. Thanks for posting it. Ride safe brother!

  • i got a Brand New 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R " Monster Energy Edition", and i dropped it yesterday May. 1, 2010...hahaha! and i'm one of the lucky ones! the only damage on it is a lil scratch on the left side and it's not even visible...funny thing is i got the same reaction you had..." i was like, didn't i just dropped my Motorcycle?!" i look at it for like atleast 10 seconds before i pick it up hahaha! and my tank was half way full too lol.

  • thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks man =D so whats ur next adventure (trip)

  • =S i got other question! =D sorry what u think of the kawasaki ninja 500r? i like it its good for a second bike BUT... i dont like the frame can u tell me somethin abaout? =O and the link of ur blog if u do one! thx! =D

  • @DOPOPI I don't know much about the Ninja 500 either. I know one guy that has one and he seems to like it. And I don't have a blog.

  • =O man thanks for all that info but one last question the 250cc engine is like any 250 engine or its a real sport bike 250cc engine u know what i am sayin? look a 2000cc kawasaki vulcan could easily get raped by a ninjaZX10R that is only 999cc so? the 250cc engine of this ninja is a sport bike engine?

  • @DOPOPI I don't know anything about the 250s. Both of my bikes have been 600s. I assume the Ninja 250 would be faster than a 250 cruiser but don't hold me to that.

  • 6. When Driving For Long Time Its Confortable? i am taking about 40km - 500km? idk how u feel?

    7.How About Its Mantiniance?

8.What In Addition Can U Tell Me About This Bike Something That I Might Want To Know ? Something idk?

    9. Do u Still Own The Kawasaki 250r?

Be 100% Honest Please I Would Like A Good Bike!

  • @DOPOPI

    6. No sport bike is extremely comfortable on long trips. You have to be careful not to put weight on your arms or you'll hurt your arms, wrists, and shoulders.

    7. I never had any maintenance problems.

    8. I didn't like the fact that it had a carburetor. That's one reason I sold it and got a GSXR.

    9. Its not a 250R. Its a ZZR 600. I sold it and got a GSXR 600. Both bikes had their pros and cons but I prefer the GSXR.

  • Ok here my questions =D i want u to be honest please =D i want to get a good bike for my 15 birthday

    ok

    1. How Good Is Its Sound?

2- do u think i can fit that bike i am about 1.64cm

    3. How About The Power? so wiil that bike give me enough power?

    4. How About Gas Mileage?

    5. How About Top Speed? i weight like 120lbs? so wiil that bike give me enough power?

  • @DOPOPI

    1. It sounds fine but you shouldn't be concerned with sound.

    2. Best way to find out is to go to a dealer and sit on one. I picked it because it was low to the ground and I wanted to be able to put both feet flat on the ground.

    3. It had plenty of power especially for a first bike.

    4. I think it got about 50mpg

    5. I had it up to 120mph but it would have gone faster. It has plenty of power for a first bike.

  • @DOPOPI my suggestion to you, is get 250cc it's alot lighter than a 600cc's....plus take the Motorcycle Course! and keep practicing til you get use to the Motorcycle and ALWAYS wear your HELMET,GLOVES & JACKET!

  • @deck2585 =D thanks and i always wear them =D =O and what Motorcycle curse? i already know how to drive i got like 1yr drivin motorcycle =S so what course ur takin about?

  • Hello man =( to bad u dropped its a beautiful bike but any way can u answer me some questions i got can u please give me ur email ? in a personal message because my dad is planing to buy this bike for me i am not a begginer i already have a honda 125cc legal street bike and my dad is planing to buy this bike for my 15 birthday!!! YAY! but idk if il fit in this bike i am a bit shot i am about 5'5 or 5'4 can u please please!! give me ur email i got so many questions! thanks!

  • @DOPOPI I prefer not to give out my email address but you can send me a private message on Youtube and I'll answer any questions that I can.

  • your a nob how the fuck did you pass your test

  • @deathchant999 You can't spell knob or noob or whatever the fuck you were trying to say! How the fuck did you pass third grade!

  • hmmm dont really have the luxury of no gloves here its still freezing in the U.k, thanks for the advice on braking, only have a light honda 125 atm, they stopped selling the ZZR over here in 2007 so it will be the older looking one i will probably get. Everyone in the u.k who rides will drop it or crash at one point inconsistent road quality and ice in the shade sometimes in spring!!

  • I'm SO glad you are required to get a drivers license before you can ride a bike...

  • I know its an old vlog but you gave us a great analysis.

    Well done!

  • i was a new rider ...bought a raider s...nobody told me that second gear is fast....well....the bike kinda took off on its own......forgot everything i learned ......so yea.....dropped my bike on first ride........and a year later another drop.......no major damage or even scrathces per se....just a broken foot pedal...on each side.......1.5 years later ....i'm still a novice....7000miles.......last month rode the highway in the night....nite time riding is fun.....105/mph so far

    cheers

    wylie

  • i lowsided at 70km/h, gravel on the road turning right. happy riding everyone

  • i made the same mistake using my front break when turning, only difference is that there was shit loads of gritt on the road hich i couldnt see in the dark, nice video m8

  • nice video. we learn from each riding.

  • Glad you learned from your mistakes but don't blame the gloves, you should never ride without all the right gear.

Yes it is a nice bike, Kawasaki rule.

  • that excact same thing happened to me except this was the first time i had taken it for a ride and i was on a downhill slope and trying to turn around.. but i learnt that if ur on a hill, then u simply pull the trottle and release the clutch little passed fiction point and your bike will not fall over unless you of course are on too much of a lean... but it asnt happened to me yet... oh yer and GO MAC the best computer system around

  • Wow dunno man i ride with and without gloves. full and empty tank... Biggest problem is the way people in the states learn to ride. In germany we have to go through 22 driving hours before we can even take the test, cone drills and so on but we also spend almost 1500 dollars for our license but i believe a lot safer on the streets, because this driving school i also got myself a 08 cbr1000rr as my first bike, yeah it wont forgive mistakes but i havent come close to dropping it.. stay safe

  • in the states u just get a learners permit and when u are ready you can take a road course. that's about it

  • i know i have a stateside license too =)

  • and i meant an msf course is great because you drop SOMEONE ELSES bike lol!

  • That's why an MSF course is great! I dropped an eliminator at low speed because i popped the clutch and grabbed the front brake. Using the front brake at low speed when you're in a turn is probably the easiest way to drop a bike which is why balance is so important. I grabbed the front brake because i slightly lost my balance and instinctively used my right leg to counter, but of course with no right foot over the brake pedal, the front brake is all that's left when stopping instincts kick in.

  • wow

  • hey i know how u feel like man. i lay my bike on a U turn just like u cause i hit a dead end. right when i turn i saw sand during the U turn so i decided tap the brake. my mistake i letting go of my friction zone plus the tap on the rear brake and the bike went down. i was lucky too there was very little damage.

  • Guess all we can say is Shit happens bud!! Just glad your ok and cheers for sharin your mishaps with us!!! At least you didnt throw your bike down the motorway ( freeway for all you yanks ;-) like I did lol. Ride safe bro from the U.K.

  • an apple sticker on your bike common man... thats disgusting

  • I think dropping a bike is a learning curve it knocks the cockiness out of us and like a dog getting knocked by a car, what doesnt kill ya makes you wiser, Personally i put dropping bikes down to 3 reasons the main 1 is freaking out tasking, distraction whilst balance shift, and braking, and not balanced at low speed causing foot slip or displacement, I guarantee when you drop ur bike u wil normally have not a clue what went wrong, the guy that never dropped a bike never rode 1

  • @kryten my mom loves that too :D, but nah good to see you learnt from your mistakes and are willing to put this out there so others may learn too, stay safe dude

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for posting. I see a few comments from Itsgaytobegay or whats his name - who would never admit making a mistake - and therefore will never learn a thing.

Youtube is full of videos of guys like him getting killed or injured in stupid accidents. Ignore him

  • damn that sucks man sorry :(

  • Thanks for the info guy. I am hoping to get my first bike in a couple weeks. I am an excellent ATV rider. 400 KFX and is alot of fun. I am nervous though. Sand is bad news on 2 wheels

  • ALWAYS USE FRONT AND BACK BREAK in COLDASACS.. lol - TRUST ME !! get in the habit of using front and back at the same time...

  • Thts nothin man

ma first "drop" going 40 mph in a turn no helmet droped the bike made a 3 inch whole in my ankle fell unconcious for around 2-3 minutes and when i woke up i had to pick up the bike n get my ass to the hospital with the injuries haha sucks to be me i know too me 4 months to fall though

  • I dropped my bike this morning this is what happend to me. I started down the sloped driveway and heard scraping, I had forgot to pick up kickstand, I looked down to pick up kickstand while rolling down the driveway I picked it up and realized I was about to roll into the grass I turned left and then made the biggest mistake, I hit the front brake. After that it was all over a split second later I am standing in the yard looking at my now horizontal bike. Lesson learned the hard way. :-(

  • Yep. That's pretty much how I did it too. If you're going slow and you grab the front brake, inertia and gravity take over.

Hope you didn't scrape her up too bad! I got away with very minor scratches. Keep watching my vids and you'll see that those tiny little scratches were nothing compared to what was in my little bike's future.

  • Scraped the bar-end, the brake lever, both axle sliders did their job, passenger peg scraped up pretty good but the biggest damage was I snapped off the right riders peg. I had to push my bike back into the garage with ego dragging behind me.

  • I remember when i was doing donuts with my ''new'' bike that i payed 500$ for ( i was new for me .haha) .. I started up on the pavement , did one full rotation , then whent on the grass , and when i got back on the pavement the bike flipped ! it happend so fast! .. you gatta lurn from your mistakes ..

nice bike and vid buddy :) ride safe:)

  • This is a great report for new riders with concerning dropping their bikes! I low sided mine about 4-5 months ago from dirt/oil on the ground that I wasn't paying attention to in my underground garage. Learning from these mistakes are invaluable.

  • This is a really nice retrospect for new riders. Thank you

  • sell it now while you still can

  • I sold that bike almost a year ago.

  • i know it probably sounds a bit silly, but i have just turned 16 and have a yamaha dt 50 and what this video has tought me is that accidents can happen alot easier than expected, and even though i have just started riding and have all the gear, i need to use the gloves because the same reason as you i am not use to the grip of them. this video has helped me and shown me that even the simplest of things can cause accidents.. so thank you

  • well bro my first time out on my bike i was coming to a stop and i use front and back brakes but idk how it happen but my front brake locked up on me and my bike came from behind me and i ended up under it but this was about a year ago my only drop i have ever had now im crazy with it man i top my R1 out on I-27 here in lubbock, texas but be safe and wear all the gear

  • Dude same shit happnd2 me on my Ninja 500- my first bike & my second time on the street. I was makin a sharp right turn on a hill and i hit the front brake. Nxt thing i kno is dat i'm on the floor.

  • Mines been on its side twice, i have a Honda Repsol 1000. First time i was turning in a cul de sac real slow, but i was in second gear not first and the bike simply stalled, before i knew what was happening it was over before i could stop it. The second time i stopped as quick as i could to take a photograph of something cool in the mountains, but wasnt rooted strong enough as i searched for my camera, again it went over. Both times my own fault, and both times hurt my wallet.

  • I bought a 2007 Suzuki GS500f and the second day i owned it, I dropped it. I was going around a curve a little too fast. I knew i was running out of road and decided to just go off the road anyway. I was going 20mph or less when i was omw to the grass. Basically once you reach the grass it's over. I fell off a little basically, when i fell the gear shifter digged into my foot. The left turning fell off and the wires were holding it on. some scratches and dints. I fix everything and its like new.

  • Man I dropped my 2008 Ninja 650r the third day I owned it.

It happened as I was making a right turn from a red light. Traffic was coming, but it was pretty far away so I figured I was good.

Being used to driving a truck, I reflexively looked into my blind spot as I turned. I had been told "look where you want to go" but it hadn't sunk in yet. I was turning in a direction that didn't sync with where I was looking so the bike dropped.

New riders: LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO!

  • thank you for telling new riders.. i am 16 and just started on my dt50, and i was continuously looking around not being use to it i expect. but i saw this video and read the comments, and this has helped. i read this 2 weeks ago and i have been looking where i've been aiming to go, and its really helped, i am a much more confident rider now as i am not afraid of turning to my destination. thank you.

  • Hey man I'm really glad I could help somebody. But now that you know that you need to look where you want to go, make sure you watch out for those people who can't see you ;-)

    Stay safe.

  • Front brake will do that

  • Nice and honest of you, I once doing a full lock left turn tipped bike, first gear with my foot under the gear lever ready for second, the full lock I moved my left knee out and that made my toes rise and lift the lever into neutral, no power to the back wheel and down goes the bike, never happend before or since and no one was around to laugh at me so I did it myself haha

  • It was so hot the other day where I live at....My kickstand dug into the damn street and over my gsxr went. Broken Clutch Lever, scratches on my paint, and a scratched frame slider..oh yeah a scratched mirror

  • OUCH! There's nothing like coming back to your bike and seeing it on its side. That sucks.

That happened with my GSXR just a few days ago. It was leaning pretty far but hadn't gone far enough to fall yet. I actually had trouble getting the kickstand out of the asphalt. I had to sit on the bike and rock it back and forth to get it out.

  • Kryten we share the same pain....when I came back and seen my bike laying on its side..it was like seeing someone close to you dead on the ground..lol I had 2 get help to lift the kickstand out the asphalt..it does suck

  • that sucks bro, ive never droped any of my bikes but i have wrecked every single one beyond repair lol.i have come damn close though in my first year or two on the street.crashing is a part of riding everyone will crash, just droping them from your foot sliping, or turning a round is due to inexperience not really any excuse for it.

  • I do appreciate it that you are sharing your experience with every one else. Glad to know you are not hurt. the tips you mentioned are helpful for all of use who begginers. SM

  • Yeah, yeah - how many excuses?? And There was diesel on the road and your tyres were cold, yes??

LOL unlucky, dude! It happens to everyone eventually, and at least you weren't hurt and the bike was barely scratched.

    Is it a 9r?

  • ive only fallen off my bike once... in the mud (with a moped) and i spun the wheels and fell on my side LOL i have a dirt bike too never wrecked that

  • better a damaged bike than a damaged head. Good job for staying in the neighborhood, that's what I did for several weeks.

  • Gives us new riders something to think about. Thanks.

  • don't worry about the damage, that's nothing. For those slow tight U-turns using the friction zone and counter-balance are key

  • generally everyone's going to go down at one point so don't worry. now you know what you did wrong and can correct it.

    just a tip:

you shouldn't use any brakes while in a turn. do your downshifting and braking before the turn. but if you need to come to a stop while turning straighten the wheel and then stop at the same time.

  • you can brake whilst doing a U-turn

I always use my rear brake to control my speed...it's much easier to control then trying to adjust both the clutch and throttle.

  • don't sweat it, at least you didn't get hurt.

  • Can you list the factor that caused your bike dropped here?

  • A classic noob mistake, I hit the front brake while performing a slow u-turn.

  • you should learn stand turns..

  • Been there, dude. It's like a hand pulling you down and nothing you can do once it's done.

  • As a new rider I don't know if I'll avoid the same mistakes but I will say that the video and your thinking your incident thru is a great help and something I'll be conscious of.

  • thanx for the video im learning also and its good to get tips

  • Good video man! Sorry to hear you dumped your bike... Glad to hear you, and the bike are okay!

Just so you know, however.. you shouldn't brake at all through a turn, with either brake, and in that case, if you absolutely have to, the front brake is safer, it's not providing your power, which is what drives you through the corner.

  • The difference between riding without gloves (when you're used to wearing them) and riding with them is amazing.

I rode around a kawasaki dealer 2 get my gear out of my car and felt really uncomfortable without my gloves

  • I know what you mean. I rode across a parking lot a few days ago without my gloves to get from a store I was shopping at to a restaurant and it felt weird.

  • i dropped my friends 250r and it busted up the turn signal. now i have to pay 60 moneys for another one. FML

  • good video man. everybody makes mistakes dont sweat it. how did you get it to start after? did you just keep trying? im 15 i really want to drive a bike when i get my license.

  • After trying for a while it finally started to chug a bit and I gave it some gas and got it going. It was fine after that.

  • Clutch control

  • Brake control.
