Experts say just allowing purchasing across State lines would give 17 million access to affordable care.

True we already have socialized medicine with medicare/medicaid and SCHIP. Government controls consumtion and production thru rules and regulations. They even set prices for 1/2 the healthcare sector directly and the other 1/2 indirectly. They have done a lousy job of keeping cost down. Sense medicare healthcare cost have gone up every year over inflation rates. Government is the problem. So much could be done to lower cost without a massive spending plan. .

Health insurance is what 1/8 of the economy or more? Do want the government to Mandate that much of the economy. We have more options for covering the uninsured without this bill.

No one in this Country is denied healthcare. Of the 40 million without healthcare. 10 mil qualify for a Gov. plan but never apply, 11 million can afford healthcare but choose not to buy, 10 mil are not U.S. citizens. That leaves 15 to 20 mil who want healthcare but can't afford it. This trillion dollar bill will still leave over 20 mil w/o care in ten years. Experts say just allowing purchasing across State lines would give 17 million access to affordable care.

the arguement for universal health care has been framed wrong from the start...eventhough I understand why they have to express it in humanitarian terms...the problem is that we already have universal healthcare...if you get hit by a car and don't have insurance...you still can go to the doctor...the current system is going to bankrupt the country

True we already have socialized medicine with medicare/medicaid and SCHIP. Government controls consumtion and production thru rules and regulations. They even set prices for 1/2 the healthcare sector directly and the other 1/2 indirectly. They have done a lousy job of keeping cost down. Sense medicare healthcare cost have gone up every year over inflation rates. Government is the problem. So much could be done to lower cost without a massive spending plan. .
